  1. It's the only movie i've ever seen that pretty much strictly follows the exact story line of the book with very little deviation lol. I watched the movie first actually and when I read the book after it surprised me. It was all there and accurate lol. In the book at the beginning scene driving in the desert. It reads "my attorney in law started pouring beer on his chest to facilitate the tanning process"....watching the movie first I was always perplexed why in that scene he poured beer on his chest, they never explained why in the movie...but read the book and laughed my ass off when I read that part lol.
  2. I think this point here is interesting and worth talking about. Yes the team is playing better under Tocchet, but I also think we are seeing a team play more confident now that they have their starting goalie back. With Delia and Martin the team played very apprehensively. Trust in your goalie is a real thing. If you don't trust them to make that save every time it deflates the whole team. Obviously Demko had his struggles to start the year but I think it was obvious to everyone he was behind due to his injury. Martin looked good in relief of Demko, but when he went down again and the focus was on Martin he really struggled with the load and lost the confidence of his teammates...not in any way he could help it. It's just natural that it happens. If your goalie isn't stopping the puck it's damn deflating to try and play your guts out to cover up for 4 goals against every night. Same effect with Delia too, he come in a looked good for a few games but then same as Martin a habit of 4 goals a game seemed to be the norm. It's hard to be a starting goalie in this league, every team studies game tape on you and figures out where your weakness lies, Martin and Delia are serviceable back ups, but they are easy reads and easy to expose weakness wise, once every team finds your weak spots they just hound you on them and the goals start going in. Long story short...i'm so happy to have Demko back! This is how we should evaluate this team going forward as well. With a healthy Demko, Hughes, Miller, and Petey what kind of team is this? The addition of Hronek, Beauvillier, and other youngsters could round this team out nicely...add in some off season tweaks and we could be a pretty solid team next year. Will be interesting to see if they can move some cap space and make the changes needed. I'm pretty positive they will figure it out IMO.
  3. That cap is killer tho lol. But at least he's performing better than OEL. Not gonna happen anyways but thought popped in my head and decided to post about it lol
  4. Got a question for you all. Would you trade OEL for Karlsson if Sharks retained some of his cap? This could be a decent change of scenery type trade for both players. Both have 4 years left on their current contract. I'm torn but it could help both teams out.
  5. I’m still in shock that we won this game…! I mean…our line up was half AHL squad. Honestly, blame Dallas they come out sleepy in the first thinking would be easy. We get 3 goals on then before they wake up. If they brought their A game to start they would have won. Demko made sure to keep us in it during the 2nd and 3rd. Good to see him back and in solid form. But I doubt he could even help us win this game if Dallas woke up and played the first period. I get all the tank frustrations…but c’mon really? Our line up said it all. Bitch at Dallas not the Canucks lol
  6. I think everyone hopes he finds himself and lights it up in our top 6. But i’d even be happy with him playing on a solid 3rd line with Podz and possibly Raty. Would be a fun line to watch. Give him some PP time and get his minutes up between 12-15 and I think we may have an effective player even if he doesn’t flourish in a top 6 role.
  7. I very much agree. I am very so so on this guy. That being said I think our coaching staff here will give him 2nd or 1st line opportunities right off the bat to see what he has. So I can’t help but be excited to see what he may have. He has such a small amount of NHL games it’s anyones guess what he could turn out to be. I do think it’s one of those 50/50 shots. Either he makes it in our top 9 and flourishes or he bolts to KHL. There is no in between. And I’m ok with that kind of risk. We did not pay much to get him.
  8. Yeah his skating is a big hurdle. But I’m always reminded of a player like Andrew Brunette…he was a terrible skater but his awareness was off the charts and was always in the right place at the right time all over the ice…you’d be like…how the hell did he get there!? I feel Raty has that in him. Hopefully he improves his skating. But his smarts are always getting him in good position to make the proper plays whether offensively or defensively. Maybe his ceiling isn’t as high as his draft position. But we have needed to fill our 3C spot since…as long as I can remember…i’d take that too if that’s what he is.
  9. 73…don’t go there lol. However, I actually liked Gaunce on the farm. I feel like we never developed him properly in Utica. With the change in coaching and development staff I think we are finally seeing the difference it makes for our farm team players. It’s been a big difference.
  10. I’m surprised Juulsen hasn’t got the call yet with Schenn going home. Although removing Juulsen would really gut the defence on the farm. But would love to see Woo and what he can do as their top RD. Keeper needs to get some games in too. I think he’s just been a spare all year? Not sure what’s up there? As for Breezer, I thought he played a clean simple game last night. I like his chances of staying up with the big club to finish the year. Wolanin can definitely be an adventure, but I’d hazard to say at this point of the season it’s worth the risk to see what they got in him snd whether he can improve to finish the season. I am liking him on the 2nd PP so far.
  11. I hope so too. I mean we’re stuck with that awful contract so may as well hope for the best. Wolanin has been a treat to watch on the farm this year. Jack Rathbone should pay attention. Wolanin is a good story of perseverance. Keep working hard and one day you will make the show. I’m rooting for him. He’s paid his dues. Rathbone on the other hand to me looks and is playing defeated on the farm. I’m sure it’s hard to handle your emotions. You’re 24 and thinking maybe I won’t make it. But all he’s gotta do is look up and see Wolanin at 27 making a difference.
  12. Yeah i’m torn on this notion. On one hand it’s great for our current group of players development. It’s important to see what they have in all these young guys…but I really don’t wanna stop the tank from rolling on either. We need a top 5 pick!
  13. As much as we crap on OEL this is important to remember. I thought last season he played well for us. This season it’s been obvious from day 1 something wasn’t right. Turns out it was a lingering injury he was trying to play through all season long. The whole team kept it quiet while we all happily crapped on him over and over this year. I actually feel bad for my share of it. I hope he comes back next year and provides us that much needed 2LD spot like we need him too. He needs that, and the team needs that.
  14. I like both players but wow we are getting smaller and smaller on the back end. Orlov is great but I don’t even think he’s 6 ft??
  15. Geez, Phil you’re right! How could I forget about the flailing lol Then flop on your belly and do a snow angel. That will be sure to trip everyone in sight so it’s pure chaos. It’s all about the chaos Breezer! You got that!?
  16. I can see him saying to Brisbois… “ see, you stand here inside the net. That way the goalie can’t make the save”
  17. I just dusted off the old play station last night. I played Assault Rigs with the boy and took him back to 1995. Tank on baby!!
  18. Where did you get that from lol? My point was that even as good as Clark is you just don’t find goalies like Demko every day. Clark for all that he has been given can only do so much. Edit: I mention his downfall to highlight the fact that even tho he is a great goalie coach there are others out there with their own unique process. Clark isn’t the only one. And everyone has a weak point that could potentially be their undoing. I think his single minded focus on what makes the best goalie could be flawed. But nowhere did I mention chasing him out of town. Hopefully that clarifies things a bit more.
  19. 100 % correct If there was a flaw to Clark is that he seems bent on one “shape” of goalie. He’s been interviewed in the past about what he looks for. He likes range, but also quickness/reaction time…that’s what he scouts for…he then quickly says even a smaller goalie has range under the right circumstances…basically he wants his goalies long limbed I think. He can teach everything else in between. Look at Mikey DiPietro. He couldn’t shape or mould him at all. I am starting to wonder if this may also be his downfall. He can find good goalies in the later rounds for us. But none of his prodigies have ever become great consistent year after year goalies other than Bobrovski, Marky and Demko (and all 3 still have their issues with consistency) Columbus: he has his hands all over that ie:Reshaping Bobrovski, developing Korpisalo, Merzkilins, plus the young fellow who died in that freak fire works incident at manny legacies house a few years ago..Tarasov I think. All hand picked by Clark. All good goalies. But I wouldn’t say top goalies in the league. We have given Clark a lot more reign in Vancouver so time will tell if his ways are correct. So far he recovered Marky into a really good goalie, built up Demko into one heck of a goalie (but I think we have rode him too much and may have broke him!), he sank DiPietro, and he has salvaged Delia and Martin from ECHL despair…he has drafted a couple interesting guys ie: Silovs (who I love and am cheering for) and Kosuveno (spelling??)…it will be interesting what other talent he comes up with this draft. I still think we need a few more horses in the stable goalie wise because none can replace what a top end/healthy Demko brings. I don’t know if I could stomach another season of mediocre goaltending. It just kills your team’s confidence and performance. Plus do we really want to ruin Silovs next year by trotting him out as a starter…I think this market would eat him alive if it doesn’t work out…and then where the hell do you go after that doesn’t work?? We don’t have any guaranteed top end goalies in the pipeline to replace Demko, none other than the slight hope Silovs could do it…no way am I gonna bet on that. Only if we sign a good ufa back up goalie in the off season would I let Demko go. Good target would be Raanta or Varlamiv imo.
  20. That was hilarious…why is he behind the friggin goalie….I literally wanted to reach thru the TV and slap him.
  21. …your new cryball? How many of them have you broken after they don’t work..!?
  22. Oh he’s crapping his pants right now thinking….shit I’m the number 1 RD on this team…and visibly panicking on ice lol. Last year he was pretty darn good for us. This year it’s been full chaos giraffe non stop all the time. I feel bad for him, he’s in over his head at the top of the line up. Schenn took pressure off him big time. We will call up Juulsen to replace Schenn, we are light on the back end, need some beef to push people off the damn goal crease…cause Myers doesn’t seem to want to do it this year.
  23. Plus give him the C for 2 years. Let Petey work up to it slowly and learn off of him. He seems hesitant to take the C right now. Let Schenn have it for now. I always think back to Luongo when he took the C. It was a major distraction for him and he even admitted when he gave it up to Sedin he was just able to focus on his game again. I feel like the same may happen to Petey. He’s gonna sign here long term. There is no reason to rush a C on his chest while we rebuild/retool over the next 2 years.
  24. Sorry I forgot which thread we are in. Back to wishing Toews best of luck or worst of luck healing from long covid. Sucks no matter which way you spin it whether he deserves it or not. He has a family and they are suffering to I would imagine. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
  25. They definitely have an up and coming team. I sure wish we had a chance to draft Seider! They have good young pieces so I can definitely see him staying. He’s having a hell of a year. Wonder what that will cost them??
