  1. Agree with your logic but balance that with the need to also bring players along and start winning as well - you need some 'solid ground' else you end up like Edmonton. While Tanev is a vet he is only 26- he has 8-10 years left in him so I don't think you can throw him in the same bucket as Doan etc. He clearly can be part of a long term solution I don't think tanev is too old for their core and much like the canucks have done - Arizona really needs to bring in some transitional pieces in that 22-27 range - to help young players. Tanev fits that bill I am not saying they WILL do it, but as Arizona, you'd have to consider it given how much youth you have, your lack of depth and experience on D and the fact you can only sell the future for so long without busting players- not to mention you need to start winning games to keep your fans. How many years have they been mired in this nonsense of bottom feeders? Tanev is not 'selling the future' for now, he can play a valuable role for them now and the future - that's where we disagree I think
  2. Yep or Tanev and Columbus 2nd for Arizona 1 and 2? That gives us 2 top 5's in round 1 and 2
  3. Interesting the lack of consensus in the top 5-8 in the differnet draft rankings - ie mittlestadt (anywhere form 2 to 11) and hirschier as well. I think this draft is going to see more off the board picks this year than normal if this is any indication
  4. Arizona might actually be open (Tanev) to it this year given their stable of youth, need for D, and not a great draft by any means. Although, a right handed Dman who is solid in his own end, still relatively young should garner more than a first pick unless its top 4 / 5
  5. Is the player media availability today? thought i heard it was -starting at 10am? was i wrong on that?

  6. shiny new object syndrome - grass is greener attitude
  7. agreed but means nothing right now, worry about positioning when we get to mid July
  8. Here's an experience tip for CDC. When you want to make a sound argument, your opinion alone does not make it sound. It is also not an 'affront' to you personally if someone challenges your opinion. That being said, when crafting an argument, if you base your opinion on facts, vs simply opinion, you have a defensible position. Start developing your logic and fact based debate skills, it will serve you well as you enter the workforce- Use facts and logic and your opinions will hold water. Just saying things and thinking you're right does not mean you are right, and then getting uppity when that is expressed to you will be a challenge for you in the workforce if you do not accept this reality and learn those skills.

You know what's a really awesome idea, take someone's differing opinion.  Get REALLY offended by it, start insulting them THEN TALKING ALL IN CAPS without ever simply accepting that they have a differing opinion based on the exact same information you have.

All while never simply understanding there was never an argument in the first place, or that at no point in time was the person with a different opinion antagonizing, offending or attacking you.  All without reading their actual opinion or trying to understand it.

It's cool to write a status update, it's even better to go all Alex Jones on them.  But hey, what do I know, I'm no expert

What if its a fact that my opinions are awesome?

  9. a number of the players you named are ranked in the 2nd and 3rd round - i think i explained that in my response try reading it vs simply scanning and rushing to try and be 'right' - sometimes if you read a response maybe you can accept you made some errors nothing wrong with making errors - but trying to defend them in light of facts that refute them, simple makes one look childish
  10. skating has been described as suspect and likely not NHL level - avoid
  11. not at all but point of most of the comments here are A) our first pick B ) you should state what rounds then since most of those guys arent worth our early pick and or how you'd acquire the other late first rounder to get some of them
  12. Arrival 9/10 But I also have a bit of an Amy Adams fetish
  13. Canucks loss NJ beats Philly and Arizona beats Dallas and we're tied for second to last but will have one game in hand on Az
  14. depends on when one of their balls comes out. Remember last year they have the machine going and draw all the non playoff (lottery) teams and would call out 10-1 position based on what ball came out at what position (like watching lotto 649 results) But vegas is guaranteed at least #6. So, say they get pulled as #7, they would automatically be given the number 6 and then next guy drawn is number 7, then next is number 5. They wouldn't 'go back in' as then they are getting 'more chances at the top pick -which isn't how its designed So for the draw they are given the same number of chances as finishing number 3 Worst position they can fall to is number 6
  15. In my view here's what it comes down to 1. Draft position obviously but assume we're top 5 2. Top 2 then no brainers given need we take 1) Patrick or if we get 2) Hirschier 3. If we are in three to six hole it then depends on who goes but what I think is key is Benning knows we need a young center and there are quality centers available (so we will end up with a good prospect) Question I have is, of those centers and I really don't see him taking a dman(unless we have a trade lined up but stranger things have happened,) but question is of the following who does he have ranked higher and who's watched alot of these guys? I have seen none but read alot on a few of them Villardi - sounds like Bo 2.0 - Benning may want a sure thing and be happy with that - I had read his skating was suspect but also read the opposite but his numbers don't scream elite talent to me. http://lastwordonsports.com/2017/03/31/gabriel-vilardi-scouting-report-2017-nhl-draft-3/ Glass - making a real name for himself and putting up big offensive numbers, apparently a good skater and very competitive- needs to fill out though but 6'2 so he should http://lastwordonsports.com/2017/04/03/cody-glass-scouting-report-2017-nhl-draft-6/ Middlstadt - done alot of reading on this kid and sounds like a legit number one potential, great skater, distributor and makes players around him better apparently- question is quality of competition - since he's in HS - but they factor that into their numbers/adjust - scouts see him top ten so he's legit. Great skater, 6'2 200 lbs already. http://lastwordonsports.com/2017/04/02/casey-mittelstadt-scouting-report-2017-nhl-draft-5/ Rasmussen - know very little, read very little but a big kid, local, but much like villardi not puttin up dominant numbers - a project i dont think we would take that high Necas - unknown read little Since I haven't seen these guys play and most here haven't either other than youtube highlights its hard to know who's best for us but I would venture to say Middlstadt, Villardi, Glass are probably the order (or at least I would hope) benning has them ranked.
  16. I was agreeing with your point about people not actually seeing players play and then you suggested we needed elite talent and named these guys and basically through yourself into the same bucket 1. Maxime Comtois - was highly ranked last year and this year hasn't even put up a PPG in the Q - this is not a first line forward and he might fall into the second round 2 Matthew Strome - my guess is you're going by his last name vs skill. Poor skater, more of a grinder and probably higher ranked because he's a strome -certainly not first line guy 3. Entwhistle isn't even ranked in the top 2 rounds, Thomas second round, and Klostin lower first. I am not sure if your post was a troll or what but the guys you're mentioning for the most part are late first/second round picks not top 5
  17. Hate to burst his bubble but that's not how benning makes decisions Hey I had a Canadian center like Bergeron so I should find a czech one! if that's his simplistic approach? LOL umm no
  18. No they pick order of all the top ten i believe? that's what they did last year, its how the balls come out of the machine. they dont just pick top 3 then go to standings position
  19. Las Vegas has the 'same' odds as the number 3 pick to be specific
  20. I think we're pretty much locked in min 4th seed going into lotto now With the Detroit win tonight the worst 'draft' position entering the lottery we will have is 4th worst in the league. NJ is one point back and even in games played, and surprisingly Arizona is only 2 pts back, but we have a game in hand. If there is any time to 'ever just tank it' - it's with 4 games left and 2 pts out of second to last. Shut down Edler, Sutter, Tanev, and try to go 0-4. Not a tanker but 4 games for potential long term gain is smart Dallas is 6 pts (Detroit 7pts) up on us with 3 games left, they need only 2 pts and we're locked out of 5th We'd also have to run the table in our last 4 games The combination of those two things is unlikely. Better chance we get third spot going into the lottery or 2nd spot tbh.
  21. Well it looks like with the Detroit win tonight the worst 'draft' position entering the lottery we will likely have is 4th worst in the league (unless we get 7 of 8 pts and Dallas gets none). @ItsMillerTime Vegas as 'same odds' as #3 so there are 2 number 3's in the hat
