  1. Have not seen too much of Lockwood this season. Hi-lite stuff only. The question at the start his season was, could he cut back on his kamikaze defensive style and stay healthy ? He's done well, health wise. Has he, in fact, toned things down in that area ? Has it affected his overall game or is he still flying around hitting everything in sight ?
  2. New goalie acquired ! Edit: Mazanec
  3. Not too sure who you would have started. JB backed himself into a corner when he delayed on replacing McKenna, but last night was not part of any plan. Bachman, Demko injured and McKenna on a fake conditioning stint. Markstrom was pencilled in to start every game till Demko/ McKenna came back. When Markstrom couldn't go, who was meant to start ?
  4. Was surprised ( shouldn't have been ! ) how much extra net the shooters had with a 6ft goalie compared to our usual 6ft 6 version !
  5. Anyone with any Tyler Madden news ?............anyone...........anything !
  6. The veterans have been bolstered. Domino effect, now the rookies have less pressure on them. Just Kero to start, add Gaunce, add Pyatt and lately Schenn. Huge difference !
  7. Good to see Utica beating their top rivals. Was very interested in the fact that Leighton started in back to back games, especially as this is a three games over three days weekend for the Comets. Kulbakov will probably play today ( noon PST ). Canucks have to get another NHL goalie under contract. The DiPietro situation has to end. My guess that it's either Leighton or McKenna. Didn't get to see the LVP game, but reports indicate that Leighton was the better of the two. I think Leighton will soon have a NHL deal ! The Flyers are +/- 2days away from having to waive McKenna or keep him on their NHL roster.
  8. I can't speak for @mll, but I'm 100% over the top pro JB and everything Canuck. When I question something, it means a great deal of positivity has been passed by. You're not talking to one of CDC's negative ninjas. It takes a lot for me to be critical of anything Canuck related. So....no........I won't shut it !
  9. Strange that they 'fudged' the truth on this. Being concussion related seemed to be the logical cause. Why skirt around that fact ?
  10. It is a 'conditioning' stint ! 14 days, starting 30th Jan..Don't know the loophole that Phillie used, but he was not injured and had recently played a game.
  11. For a guy that is right all the time, it would be nice if you could spell Stecher correctly !
  12. I remember rushing to watch one of those rare Utica TV broadcasts ( must have been playing the Marlies ! ) Had many young prospects that I wanted to get a look at. The two d-men on my 'list' were Andersson and Tommernes. They were good-ish, but Biega was way better. Was a little annoyed as I viewed Biega as an AHL only signing. PS.......one other player was superb in that game.......Alex Friesen. Some make it, some don't !
  13. Michael Leighton starting in goal for Utica tonight. Maybe a good game gets a NHL contract. Edit: McKenna starting for LVP.
  14. I was, many years ago, involved in analytics in the business world, mainly insurance and agriculture. When basing big money decisions on analytics, you want as few variables as possible. Hockey analytics can point to a trend and do have a modicum of value, but there are way too many variables to be taken seriously.
  15. Noticed Dylan Strome doing just that last night. Compare his Arizona analytics to his DeBrincat pairing analytics. Probably slightly different.
  16. Gudbranson struggling ! Who cares. Bo is in a scoring slump. Let's tie him to the whipping post too.
  17. Not affiliated with any team, NHL or AHL. Doesn't appear to have played this year.
  18. Crap or not, their silence on the subject just exaggerates the speculation. For me, there are two logical explanations #1....he has the flu and they don't want to have it spread through the team and #2....there are concussion issues. Denied by the team, but it makes sense and is worrisome. Canucks need to address this issue !
  19. We need someone at the NHL level. If this was about the AHL, I'm sure they could loan us a goalie.
  20. Hmmm ? Not to sure what devious stuff other teams would do, but, if we sign Leighton to an NHL contract, he must be waived if they send/ keep him to Utica. Perhaps we shall find out who will be spoilers ! I think that if any team claimed Leighton, it might backfire on them !
  21. Ironic that a player on our 50 man roster who never gets thought of as an NHL option might cause the most angst for Canuck brass ! Bachman's injury hardly got people crying that the 'sky is falling', but his absence might cause JB a lot of stress. If we can't get McKenna back from his fictitious 'conditioning' stint, JB is going to have to give up a prospect or a draft pick. Michael Leighton might end up falling into a nice lucrative NHL contract ! I think that the McKenna 'conditioning' stint started 30th Jan and has a 10 day life. Flyers probably wont send Hart anywhere, so they are pressured to waive McKenna or Stolarz. When McKenna was claimed by Flyers, I don't know if there was more than one claim put in. If they were the only claimant, I think we have the right to take McKenna back and send him directly to Utica. ( if there was more than one claimant they might have some rights ! ) PS....... McKenna has played one game in the AHL for them. LV plays Utica on Friday. Which bench will he be on ? Edit: Conditioning stint for non injury is 14 days it seems !
  22. I find the deafening silence around the Baertschi situation to be worrisome ! ( have I missed an update ? )
  23. Don't think that any of our rhd can comfortably play the left side, so you're probably correct. That left side does not fill me with confidence. Whether Brisebois or Pouliot is on the 2nd pairing, I can see our opposition attacking that side of the ice all game long !
