Baertschi is useless on the 4th line. It was never him vs. Schaller. He was competing for a spot with Leivo and Pearson. I like him on Bo's wing. They got chemistry. His hustle and compete have taken big strides since he first came to Vancouver. I've been a fan of his and would have loved for him to succeed, but I can understand Leivo and Pearson winning out over him.

I really don't like using this kind of logic to determine which line a player is capable of playing on. It totally ignores the fact that half the teams don't make the playoffs and thus do not have capable players playing on appropriate lines. If we were to use this logic, the correct way to do it is to say that the top 15 players for each position statistically are capable 1st line players. Anyone below is theoretically not a 1st line player on a playoff team, for example.

Thats a good point. Because you said this I looked up his weight on the AHL website and it's listed at 183. I *think* he was in at least some of the AHL training camp last year and that might have been when he was last officially weighed. Could be up to 190 right now if that's the case.

That would be awful for development. Team would have way less practice time due to increased travel that comes with playing on the west coast. How often does the scenario of needing to rush a player from the farm team on game day actually occur? not often at all. And it's a 50/50 chance that if that scenario does arise that they would be on the road anyway. It is far far far far far far far better to have your affiliate on the east coast.
