it's not back-diving that's illegal. It's super long contracts that allow for back-diving to make a significant impact on cap hit that are illegal. Nothing says you can't give a player $10mil in his first year and $1mil in his last of the contract. You just can't sign a player to a contract more than 7 years long, or 8 years if they're your own free agent. We benefited from luongo's contract as much as we did because it was 12 years long.

petey will be in the same tier as those guys in a his prime, it's just gonna take him longer to get there. his intelligence, shot, hands, and compete are generational but his body is quite behind and it does hurt him. hes going to really take off at 23-25 imo.

I think that considering McDavid was named captain 3 months later it's quite possible it wasn't a factor, but I'll concede that it's possible it was. Hall was also completely blindsided by the trade though and even said he wanted to stay after he was traded I believe. I don't think he at all requested a trade. He expressed that he wanted to stick around to see the thing through. Nonetheless, your argument seems to be changing with every response and it seems you're grasping at straws to support your idea that Bo's not the best captain for the team.
