  1. Any two of those plus Iorio. He's the young RHD we so desperately need in the system (not to mention being a Coquitlam boy too).
  2. Some Detroit fans may not be mad that they drafted Larkin over Pastrnak, but some Vancouver fans are mad that we drafted Virtanen over Ehlers/Nylander (or Juolevi over Tkachuk). These irrelevant comparisons aside, what this boils down to is a situation where two similar and highly-ranked prospects both dropped fairly dramatically in the draft. Allvin had the choice to choose either one and the question was, would he resist the urge to draft the Swede over the more highly-ranked player (in nearly all prospect rankings), or go ahead and choose the Swede. He chose the Swede, and now some of us Canucks fans are very curious to see if he really knew something that most others didn't know or, once again, just chose the Swede. It has nothing to do with hating on Lekkerimaki, as waaaay too many CDC'ers have frantically suggested, but everything to do with wanting to see if Allvin actually did the right thing in making his first ever draft selection for this franchise. As is always the case in these situations, only time will tell.
  3. Well it frees up Dobson to be traded for Miller, of course!
  4. Maybe true, but had to laugh. In the pics of Mik and Kuz in the few posts above yours, it looks like they're smiling
  5. All we've seen so far is that the rankings appear to have been accurate. Will we find out in the future that they were inaccurate? Maybe, but so far we can only base that on hope.
  6. That still doesn't explain why, given a choice between the two, Allvin thought Lekkerimaki to be the better choice.
  7. There were literally no draft rankings that had Lekkerimaki rated ahead of Kemmel. I can't see what would have convinced Allvin to pick Lekkerimaki over Kemmel, aside from a Swedish bias.
  8. Unless he's not as adept at wheeling around right to left.
  9. I can't agree with that first point. I think Ray is a straight shooter, who isn't going to sugar coat anything or be a cheerleader for the team, which is an approach that too many on CDC seem to be find incomprehensible. I really miss the fact that we don't have any guys with that kind of inside hockey knowledge ( which exceeds Drance's by 1000%) on local sports radio.. As far as hearing from other management staff is concerned, that's nice to hear sometimes, just to get to know them a little better, But I think that if you want to get any real insight into what management is thinking and what they might be trying to do, you want to hear from the guys at the top, which is why i'm personally more interested in interviews with them.
  10. I would too, just to see how he'd do. Not so much if he got his clock cleaned though. As we all know, being big doesn't necessarily make him a good fighter.
  11. Would we be able to trade Miller and just say that we already did those contracts with Eriksson and Beagle?!
  12. I don't think anyone is panicking. But I can't recall seeing any draft rankings where Lekkerimaki was rated higher than Kemmell, so when the Canucks chose him over Kemmell, I couldn't help wondering if a Swedish bias influenced their decision. Hope my hunch is wrong, but this will be an interesting one to watch over time.
  13. Would have been interesting to see Jurmo come over and spend some time in the CHL, the way Edler did. They were both 3rd roud picks, if I remember right, and have similar size. Would be great to see Jurmo follow a developmental trajectory similar to Edler's!
  14. Now if only he could switch to being a right-handed shooter....
  15. He may be a fast hobbit, but could be beat this dwarf? I highly doubt it!!
