  1. How does helping someone Automatically hurt others ? So you don't like goalie coaches either ? they are primarily for only a couple of players . Any advantage over other teams that the the Canucks could take advantage of to help attract top free agents should always be considered . Sorry I could not leave this one alone but I do think your thinking is pre cap era . Now the best way for teams that don't get tax advantages to try things to lure better free agents as teams can spend as much on anything other than players . The swedes and other euro players already have a community here . Sorry again you didn't like my post But your last comment was nothing but mean
  2. With the Canucks apparent reversal in Drafting top quality Russians . Are there things to make the Canucks a more friendly destination for Russian players . With Glody if he sticks and the return of Tryamkin and the arrival of Podkolzin would a Russian free agent or two in the next couple years be worth more to this group now ? Is hiring a English/Russian speaking assistant coach an asset . What makes some other teams Russia Friendly ?
  3. After reading everybody's posts and than rereading the article other than getting everybody talking in the summer not sure "exactly" who it was meant to be insulting ? Benning for his contract , the coaches for his deployment or maybe his fault for getting injured "I remember one of his qualities when he was signed was that he never missed games " . He will not play on the pp will always start the PK . Will not have many faceoffs in the offensive end after an icing against the opponents bottom 6 But will mostly take faceoffs after an icing in the Canucks end against the opponents best . Looking forward to seeing what he can do if he can stay healthy and have an improved Jake on one side [ yes I think he just keeps getting better every year ] and Baertschi or Ferland on the other wing . Along with a defence core that can get the puck out of there own end . Not expecting 20 goals from him but 12 to 15 would be welcome
  4. All of the above including most of what everyone has added . My little addition is that when we get to the last ten games of the season it will be so nice to cheer only for wins and if they lose not be "Oh well at least they might get a better draft pick "
  5. I Think the fact that No Dirty Laundry has been made public is a sign that both Linden and the organization will be accommodating . Might be less animosity between them than everyone thinks . Trevor has been and always will be a true professional in everything he does and will always have my admiration
  6. WOW ....... Bennings extension topic sure has brought out the "My Mother can Beat up your Mother " in a lot of people !
  7. Gillis's Canucks shoulda/coulda won not 1 but 2 Stanley Cups and if they had he would probably have a statue built . I like Gillis not trying to throw him under any busses but to get what he accomplished he gave a lot of No trade clauses and traded away many draft picks . remembering our firsts were always near the bottom of the first round etc . So for many years we had No up-n-comers . Bennings hands were tied on who he could trade and every player agent will say that the first item of signing a free agent is the TAXES so some teams [ mostly Canadian teams ] have to really sweeten the pot with extra money or term to get them here . I don't agree with everything JB has done . I think injuries have really halted his ability to make the trades he could of at the trade deadlines . When he has said that they do not want a "Losing Culture " they knew they would lose many more games than they would win . They said they just wanted to be in those games 4/3 or 3/2 Not 7/2 Blowouts all the time .... Sorry for the Rant
  8. Gillis was fired for wanting to trade away the core which would have replenished all of the lost picks he used. Confused the core that he gave all no trade clauses to?
  9. Agree with everything except I do think JV has improved every year and will continue to do so and be a top 6 winger someday when all is said and done and with OJ hip fixed I can't wait to see what his potential is again
  10. In Hindsight it seems like maybe JB knew he was getting an extension only a matter of dotting " ï " etc. when he Traded away next years or the year afters first along with taking a the tenth pick that he might have no control over for the next 2 years . Not that good looking for a new job resume if you knew you were leaving . That was my first thought when I heard the trade . Liking it a lot more now after hearing he will be staying and I have heard more about both JT Miller and Podkolzin
  11. Congrates to JB . Now time to get things done Sign Boeser [ trade some salary for picks please Sign Brock long term ] than sign Goldie and Get Ian Clark to sign an extension . Than go have a well deserved Beer

    Pre-season Poll #1

He's still on the Canucks "CAP" Payroll so to me he might be retired from Florida But not Vancouver . Ask me again when we are not still paying Cap for him . Then I will probably say yeah throw in Mclean as well
  13. Always hoping for the Best for the Nucks but if too many injuries to key players happens again this year . Well than it is supposed to be one of the best ever draft years . Oh wouldn't it be nice to be still cheering for them at the end of April again !
  14. OJ is still young really and I am hoping he takes the next steps and can become top 4 . I expect the Canucks will start him in Utica unless he has an unbelievable training camp . He needs minutes so I hope he plays top 4 with pp and pk time on the farm . if they only expect a 5-6 dman I think he will be called up sooner than if they are grooming him to be a top 4 in Vancouver . I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he stays on the farm most of the year unless of course injuries .
  15. the plan as best as I can remember it from when JB and TL first took over was to not have what happened to Edmonton . Where the youngest players ran the team and there was Not nearly enough good older veteran leadership . I do recall statements of we do not want to lose too many games 7-2 8-1 and create a losing atmosphere . thus the filling the team with older traded for players instead of bringing up too many drafted rookies . Some things that have sent that sideways I think where the 100 point season under WD . How good JV and Jared McCann Played at the beginning of their rookie seasons . Having to give long contracts to get free agents to play here [ prior to this year ] . LE not being the winger for the sedins . OH Yeah and Tortorella who Did Not want to be here and wanted a Tear down immediately not after the sedins left . Which is when Linden finally used the words rebuild than got fired . JB saying that there goal was to make the playoffs every year was more to " Put Bums in seats " during the season .
  16. I Never said anywhere that the Players shouldn't get the money they signed for or that they have to retire . Just that they have to stay with the team that they were on
  17. I have thought along these line for a long time as well . It would be very hard to implement . Some teams would be immediately way over the cap . Might cause worse kaos than when they first brought the cap in . I am sure there are a ton of other things that would have to be done as well . the High taxed american teams would jump all over this as well . Not really sure the reasoning why it was not changed when the cap was brought in , equalization payments could be used to offset the weaker teams better if the claim is to help with team stability
  18. No . If you are asking me about the Luongo recapture if the league changed the rules the Contracts should have been either exempt or renegotiated when they changed the rules but that's just my opinion
  19. Arrow 1983 Thanks I think this is an awesome topic for discussion . I do disagree with you on this one . If I ever come across as being disrespectful to you or anyone it is a misinterpretation . Sometimes I do not always take into account that things written do not always come across as things said in person
  20. Just because things are legal does Not always make it good or fair . So I believe weather or not the board of governors decide it is in there best interest that still doesn't make it right . the argument is not weather it is legal but is it the right thing to do ? guess we will always see if from opposite sides of the lawyers desk
  21. You are trading for Cap Relief NOT a Hockey Player if you can not understand why others feel this is Not appropriate and should be taken out of the CBA I will Never be able to explain it to you .sorry
