Some players just don't score 100 points. But they win multiple cups, considered the cream of the crop, and are the main core of their team. Like Bergeron, Kopitar, Toews.

Aren't they just tying their hands? Now they must trade Nylander lol. Should still be able to get fair and very good value from him though.

? That wouldn't make sense much. They could have just included the draft picks in the McDonagh trade itself instead of hiding it in the Jeannot trade? McDonagh is still a good defenseman who Nashville played 20+mins a night when they were still trying to make the playoffs last season.

Poor dude.. this is the same guy who had a message to teams who passed on him, passed waivers. Never be too cocky, too sure of yourself until you've really proven it lol.

Funny thing to retire from coaching, since it is an old man's job. I guess he has made his millions and now can use the time to spend it - smart guy. We drove him out of Vancouver because we needed/wanted change, but haven't found a better coach than him since.

So we have top 5 defensemen (Hughes)
Best players in the world (Pettersson)
Top 5 goalie (Demko)
And yet we are playing at the league bottom for the previous 3 seasons.
I mean Oilers have McDavid and Draisaitl - who truely are the best players in the world and they can consistently make the playoffs at least.
I wonder if we overrate our players or not.

Dude probably felt like he missed out with the 6.9million contract now this time hes out to get more back. Either this is a high number and it gets worked down or hes going to be traded. Toronto has too many high salaried soft players any way.

Omg free prospect! Funny Detriot would just waive him like that. I wouldn't mind giving him a try, IF we weren't trying to go throttle for a playoff spot. There is really no room for experiment if you have a mission.

With Muzzin in the fold they're well over the cap. Samsonov isn't even signed yet. Someone's got to give, surely it's Murray but even then they're a bit over. They could obviously trade Nylander but then they really do become a one line team.
Honestly I don't see this team going very far, they are built for the regular season being so top-heavy and reliant on the PP. Bertuzzi is a nice addition but that defence is just so thin, especially without Muzzin. Look at the 4 conference finalists - big mean tough defencemen. At least Allvin identified this and got us two of the biggest boys in free agency. Adding Klingberg to an already-weak defence is odd but seems to be the Leaf's way - hope they can score their way out of their problems. Crazy to think that their entire season rests on their only good shutdown defenceman's health - Muzzin.
I guess the theme was to get secondary scoring and toughness so you see Bertuzzi Domi and Reeves. Domi did ok for the Stars during playoffs, that probably stood out.

Not a bad contract for Bertuzzi lol.. 1 year with the Leafs to inflate his stats and a chance at the cup too.

People need to understand.
The chances are actually higher for highly drafted prospect that has been thrown around by multiple teams being bad than them being good.
You are actually surrounded by examples.. Kravtsov (ok fine, too early to tell), Lias Andersson, Jost, Juolevi.

That is one weird 9.25million bottom pairing.
I think we had a 15million or something outrageous 4th line a few years ago too, so not special for the Canucks.

We used LTIR too and wasn't even close to making the playoffs.. Don't see your point at all.
