  1. Hanging out with a bunch of Swedish HoFer's, learning. What a bunch of mentors, Alfredson, Sundin, Sedins, maybe even visiting with Salming. Happy Birthday, maybe he gets a gift or two from the Leafs.
  2. 7 - 4 Leafs Nylander (the one that was not good enough at the draft)
  3. Canucks get the third string goalie again, a chance. Canucks need to make this a run and gun game, they can't play from a defensive shell. This needs to be a high scoring game, that might make it a pick'em game Malkin exposed some opportunities. I think Toronto wins though but Canucks could surprise knowing they have the hottest team in the league tomorrow and this game is there best chance out of the next 3 games
  4. Montreal is much much younger Canucks looked really bad vs Ottawa, very slow Martin stole the game So much against the Canadiens re: suspensions, missing two starter forwards and all their starting goalies. Montreal 5 Vancouver 3
  5. Where is Hughes ranked? Or all the defence?
  6. Age, older players very rarely get faster. Dependence on one player, Demko. Playing so they can be traded Injuries catching up A bad room. Been talked about for years. If anyone is watching Demko he isn't moving the same side to side or the splits and his posture is a little different too. I read his hips operations could be causing him trouble that was an opinion.
  7. Ya I was thinking the same thing but that wasn't what he said when hired. On After Hours he seemed to be coming to decision, he certainly didn't try to cover up bad play. He presents a honest judgment and close to majority of the fans opinions. But I wonder if Alvin is getting that direction or is Rutherford just sitting back letting him find his rhythm. Is that rumoured trade at the draft still sitting there waiting for cap space to develop and it could be a game changer. Miller for a star level young defenceman? Does he have several potential deals simmering on hold right now? I wonder that no media people aren't asking about the confusion being created by conflicting actions versus statements?
  8. Who are they being compared to? Which players on which teams?
  9. I guess a lot of poster try to hope to think of answers because the team isn't providing any. I look at the standings, does that make me a hater? I bet occasionally so I have to evaluate who is most likely to win, if I say this or think the trend is for the team to lose make me a hater? I don't get it, they haven't been in the playoffs for 7 years, all the star rookies are in the line up already and are now considered vets, all the good prospects are playing, the team has no cap room for adding improvement. If I post this am I a hater? They are not close to half way in the league. If this doesn't make me a hater what does? I bet they lose the third periods a few times and make a buck or two more often than not so far because it is something that they are doing. If I am hater how or what do I need to do to change that?
  10. How can the team pay for them? Obviously Horvat is worth more than Miller @ 8 mil and I am pretty sure Petey is looking at 12+mil. 20 million Then there is Kuzmenko, Dermott, Schenn, Burroughs, Bear and Hoglander And whatever it costs to move OEL if they do that
  11. Why couldn't the Sedins have done something similar like Sundin did? Could have got the teama bushel basket of picks/prospects and then resigned either for one season or to retire. I would not have minded that. Next up is Edler.
  12. Are the hockey gods giving them a hint? Resurrect the 6 - 40 - 9 line?
  13. Seems that there are many stories of Brakett battling it out with Benning to draft Pettersson. It stands to reason that Benning would say anyone other than Brakett because he essentially canned Brakett at the end of the year. Benning was always about covering his arse. Maybe JB's nod at the table was so someone else would take him. Apparently, Pettersson was a guy then-General Manager Jim Benning never wanted and was convinced by then-Director of Amateur Scouting Judd Brackett The doubling down on Miller in light of the previous observations in interviews has started the new management of at a sprint to catch Benning. Is Miller this groups Eriksson? Is Mikheyev the over paid 3rd liner? It is early yet but they are on their way. I hope they can reel it in and reset somehow I just hope they aren't spending good money or picks after bad.
  14. I think it was because Rutherford said there would be changes that fans might not like but would be okay with because the fans were knowledgeable in this market. So maybe the players played better so they were valuable to other teams in hopes of being traded. Play good enough so other team might want them. Two years of trading the #1's is hurting the team immensely, player depth, skill and cap control the same for the other picks as well.
  15. New draft rules and better or smarter people at the top. Those two were before Brakett was named top guy. GM usually made the first pick, Juloevi was playing on a top junior team but still dropping in the rankings, Segachev was surging up as well as a few other kids. Virtanen was a mystery really he already had a shoulder surgery and those are dicey. Pick any around them and they were a win. Yes but star players just aren't traded, Flames were already a very good win now team. Canucks won't have the cap space for that kind of deal and if they got a rental would he want to sign here? Given up? Well there haven't been too many teams that do well when they need a .640 win percentage 46 wins out of 72 remaining, last year Colorado had a .682 win percentage With the lack of depth and the lack of top 4 defencemen of those I don't think Hughes can play the season putting 27 minutes a game. As far as Pettersson still being a RFA, Tkachuk and Dubois both were and both have already stated they wanted to be moved. Pettersson has already said that when he signed, he was going to wit to see where the team was, he wanted the playoffs and a run at the cup. Pettersson is 24 Nov 12 Players aren't dumb, they know good teams from bad one's and they know how long it could take I'll go with the players, ya done
  16. Will winning this game have any meaning except not being on the bottom of the league? Seems this team isn't as good as the last 3 years. This looks like it will be a goalie battle. Will the officials give Vancouver the big edge in power plays again? Players look like they are playing to be traded off the team, I think that maybe the big push last year was because they thought there would be major changes after what Rutherford said and they wanted to be more desirable to other teams. They should win, at home, rested, desperate. Anaheim wins though, the younger guys on that team don't know they shouldn't win. Win by a couple of goals one an empty net gift. IMO a must win, as it is they need 46 more wins to make the playoffs, 98 points.
