He's not worth McDavid's contract under any circumstance. -

[Signing] Golden Knights re-sign Adin Hill
MattWN. replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I'm not convinced he's worth the money, even coming off the cup win. It's only 2 years though, so it's really a fool proof deal. I think there would have been options as solid for less money, but you can't really complain if you're Vegas right now. Thompson and Hill for under 6 mil is an amazing tandem. -
Honestly fine by me. He doesn't move the needle when he's healthy, he sure as shit wont be doing it after missing half the season, then having to play catch up when we're (hopefully) in a fight for a playoff spot. Bye Fel-ethen.

(Speculation) NYR to sign UFA G Jonathan Quick

Is Quick considered an upgrade on Halak? -
Good proposal.

Good to hear. When you have leverage over a guy like Bear, we can't afford not to use it. If he wants the security, and the ability to rehab with team doctors he's familiar with, he needs to take a 1 year prove-it deal. There isn't going to be a massive rush by other teams to sign a guy who's going to sit out the first half of the year with a significant shoulder injury, especially when he's a bottom pairing quality player.

[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade

That, or waiting for San Jose to move EK to open the space for Myers. -

Seattle still has roughly 20 million to spend, and they tore through the western conference last year. -

100% A 6'7 RHD is going to have value, especially when you're getting him for peanuts. Myers would be a great bottom pairing guy playing a sheltered role, especially in a more competent system. It's when he's playing 18-22 minutes a night against tough matchups that he is a train wreck. Worse players get dealt at the deadline for some high value. -

Are you talking about his prorated cap, or judging that based on his actual money paid? His cap hit annually is still 6mil. Either way, as we saw this past year, there is always value in retaining salary. Adding Myers 6mil at the deadline, even when prorated, by retaining half, you're giving that team the option to effectively go and add an additional 3 million dollar player. Depth wins championships. -

100% We need to go after whoever gives us the most flexibility. Bargain shop for guys willing to take 1 year prove it deals. Move Myers at the deadline if we're not contending for a playoff spot, retain 50% of his contract and recoup some decent assets. Realistically with Seattle, Vegas, Edmonton, and LA way ahead of us, and in the same division, next year probably isn't going to end well for us. -
Keeping him the year, is one year. The extra buyout year is the second year. Compared to our situation now, waiting until next summer effectively reduces his buyout by two years. I didn't think he'd be tradeable either, I just don't see us contending next year regardless with LA, LV, and Edmonton, and Seattle ahead of us in our division, arguably Calgary as well. I would have rather sat it out another year.
