  1. Its funny cause today looks like Spector is back on the Koskinnen bandwagon along with Oiler fans. I watched the game and he handled the puck like a hand grenade every time it hit him or he had to make a save. He is definitely not an NHL caliber goalie in my opinion.
  2. Shouldn't he be doing more important things like flying off to space???? Nice to see someone with the financial means giving back to humanity - much like Gates as someone mentioned earlier in this thread.
  3. Agree 100% - don't see the Rags doing it but man Schneider and Hughes on the blue line would be amazing
  4. Exactly - you have to think other GMs around the league are just waiting for his call lol.
  5. Multiple years of 1st round draft picks maybe. Have to love the goaltending situation for the Canucks - Halak and Demko are out and Martin comes in and gets us a point. The fact that our young star Petey knows how to back check vs the two stars in Edmonton who don't played a role in Spencer's success and is one of the reasons Edmonton still struggles. The Canucks as a team played a style of game last night the Oilers haven't been able to master. Add in that their secondary scoring is non existent and you have the disaster that is the Coilers right now.
  6. If Leon showed this kind of push back and effort on the ice Oilers might not be struggling like they do.
  7. It's funny that everything I read about the Coilers here every day in Albertabama talks about accountability of the players and the mindset. Explain to me how bringing in Kane helps any of that lol.
  8. I have to say it's times like right now when I love being a Canucks fan in Alberta. The chirping I put up with at the start of the season has become an enjoyable silence as Oiler fans realize that once again they likely have wasted another year of McDavid and Draisaitl in futility here in Coilerville. The Stanley Cup parade planning committee has become the "Run Koskkinen out of town" committee and soon EPS will be starting patrol along the bridges to make sure fans don't jump into the river. Loved watching the Sens comeback and McDavids pouty press conference. That team has a leadership issue and bringing in Kane won't help and I am loving it. Yes Petey is having an off season but the Canucks are trying to stay competitive whereas the Coilers have a 3 to 4 year window to win with McDavid and Leon and so many holes to fill. Skinner isn't their goalie in waiting, Bouchard isn't the defensive d man they need and even Hyman can't score. And their inbred cousins down the road the Flames - another wonderful team to watch implode :D
  9. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/rockets-owner-hasnt-given-dream-houston-nhl-team/ Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta says he hasn’t given up on his dream to bring an NHL team to Houston. “There’s not a month that goes by that we don’t have some type of talks about the NHL,” he said in a radio interview with Houston Matters on Monday. “And it’s definitely something that one day I look forward to bringing to Houston, Texas.” Fertitta has been very public about his interest in owning an NHL team since 2017, when he bought the Rockets from Leslie Alexander for $2.2 billion. While that interest hasn’t gone away, Fertitta acknowledged Monday that there are challenges with bringing a team to a southern city in the U.S. “The studies we have done, it’s a little harder below the Mason-Dixon Line. It’s a little harder to put butts in the seats,” Fertitta said. “And we’ve got to find the right team, and then we have got to just make sure that we can put the butts in the seats.” Sign up for NHL newsletters Get the best of our NHL coverage and exclusives delivered directly to your inbox! *I understand that I may withdraw my consent at any time. In May, commissioner Gary Bettman said that there were no immediate plans to bring a team to Houston. But he added that if a team ever were to come to the city, Fertitta would be involved, since the NHL club would likely have to share the Toyota Center with the Rockets. “I don’t think there’s anything active right now with the Rockets’ ownership in terms of bringing an NHL team to Houston,” Bettman told the Houston Chronicle. “Houston’s now the fourth-largest city in the United States. If there were ever to be a team there, unless there’s a new arena, Mr. Fertitta would control the entry point. But as of right now, there’s nothing for anybody to focus on.” The NHL awarded a 32nd expansion franchise to Seattle last December after 32,000 season ticket deposits were placed in the less than 24 hours. The Seattle ownership group — which includes billionaire David Bonderman and movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer — agreed to pay a $650-million expansion fee to the NHL. When asked Monday if a team in Houston would be a new expansion team or relocated from another city, Fertitta said he didn’t know but he would be open to either option.
  10. Personally think he might be willing to sign with the Oilers as they might end up playing Vegas in the playoffs which means a few free flights there for him to try his luck at the table???
  11. What I love about this for the Coilers is they take a guy with known issues off ice and in the locker room and add him to a young team with young leaders - sorry Duncan Keith isn't even playing so no leadership there - Evander Kane does not put them over the top vs teams like Vegas - desperate GM making another desperate move
  12. I love it - Oilers need goaltending and D men Ken Holland's solution:
  13. Maybe he goes to Boston to protect the Rat Marchand?
  14. What a great start to 2022 - after last years amazing stories love seeing another one in a sport taht goes unappreciated in this country - just like soccer in my opinion.
  15. My prediction is he signs with Calgary or Edmonton - Calgary cause they love the type of player he is or Edmonton cause they are desperate for any help lol
  16. Saw this on Sportsnet: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/trade-market-intensifying-coyotes-jakob-chychrun/ The trade market for Arizona Coyotes defenceman Jakob Chychrun is heating up, with interest being shown by almost one-third of the league. "I can confirm that at least 10 teams in the NHL have made enquiries about Jakob Chychrun," Sportsnet's Jeff Marek said during the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada. "A couple of offers have given the Coyotes cause for pause." Marek compared the return being sought by the Coyotes to be similar to that of when big puck-mover Brent Burns was traded by the Minnesota Wild in 2011 for Devin Setoguchi, Charlie Coyle and a (2012) first-round pick. "So what the Coyotes are looking for is a young player, a high-end prospect plus a first-round pick," Marek said. "Teams we believe who have the assets and could do that and might be interested include the Los Angeles Kings, the St. Louis Blues and certainly the Anaheim Ducks, who might be losing Hampus Lindholm to unrestricted free agency at the end of the season." The puck-moving Chychrun, the 16th-overall pick in 2016, is highly sought after because he's predicted as having a dynamic upside if he were on a good team, is only 23 years old and is signed through 2024-25 with a bargain cap hit of $4.6 million. This season, while playing on the perennially rebuilding Coyotes, Chychrun has two goals and five assists for seven points in 26 games, but is also an atrocious minus-29. Marek added that there has also been interest shown in Coyotes scorer Phil Kessel and 2015 first-round winger Lawson Crouse, the latter of whom is being sought by Boston. The trade deadline is March 21. Anyone else think we should be making a move for Crouse? Big kid who can score.
  17. We would be stuck with a 31 yr old goaltender at 6 million with a NMC - I loved Marky in Vancouver but the right choice was made to let him walk with Demko in the wings.
  18. The point I was making is Thatcher is just as capable and at a lower cost with no NMC and oh yeah is 5 years younger?
  19. As I have said before in Topics about Thatcher - Jacob who???
  20. Great time to be living in Alberta as a Nuck's fan - Oilers are sucking and the Lames backed out of an arena deal and have to continue playing in the crushed beer can/maxi pad looking Saddledome hahah
