  1. I think they looked at Reinhart as a comparable for points etc. Regardless, for what he's doing, the contract is too much, but we are probably better off keeping him and seeing if he can have a good bounce back year next year and if necessary trade him next deadline. This deadline, I would really like to focus on moving Miller as I think at his age and with the fact that we just traded Horvat, he really no longer fits our objectives and plans. I would trade Miller, extend Schenn for 2 years and give him an A and make this Pettersson's and Hughes' team at this point. Full reset on leadership. Move OEL at the deadline as well if it can be done with 2 million retained.
  2. Curious on anyone who has actually watched him play, how is his foot speed in terms of readiness for the NHL pace?
  3. Valid point, but they could have just issued a QO, and considering his struggles with injury, take a chance that he bounces back and if he performs but doesn't want to sign an extension here, then you flip him at the deadline. If he doesn't perform, then you are probably flipping him anyway. What people need to remember though, if you look around the league, he's producing at around .78 points per game in an off year where he started out with a hand injury (which I don't think he's completely over). His salary is not really that far off of what .78 per game guys get.
  4. Remember, it wasn't Benning who negotiated and signed the current contract with Boeser, it was signed by Allvin! Benning had his flaws, but this is not his contract. It really should have been about 1 million less, all things considered. Now, Boeser has been playing better the last few weeks. I really think we need to move him and Miller at the deadline.
  5. If we are able to early pay his signing bonus (not sure if this is allowed, but I can't think of why it wouldn't be), I believe he would be extremely attractive to Arizona. Not just because of actual dollars spent, but because he would be a good trade chip for next deadline. It's all about kicking the can further down the road. That's the only reason why you trade a 24 year old defenseman like Chychrun on a really cheap cap hit.
  6. They wouldn't want Boeser, they don't want hard salary. In this context and situation, Myers is probably worth more to them than Boeser. If Canucks could prepay Myers 5 million signing bonus, the idea of having someone take up 6 million in cap space for only 1 million spend next season, would be really attractive to a team playing in a 5000 seat arena. Rathbone, Lekkerimaki, Myers and the Islanders 1st and other picks. Arizona wants picks over anything else right now. The Cap Floor is 61 million right now. If they can get there while only spending 52...ish million in actual dollars, don't underestimate how much value that carries for them. Arizona is not a team that wants to compete next season, in 2025, they are going to be a scary team to play against with all the picks they are piling up and high end talent.
  7. I would probably ship them Stillman, although he has been playing better the last 3 or 4 games. I think he will do better under Tocchet structure.
  8. Arizona doesn't want to take anything much in salary back in trades, they want to stay at the cap floor. So... To Vancouver Chychrun To Arizona Myers (We pre pay the 5 million signing bonus) 1st 2023 from NYI Rathbone 2023 4th from NYR 2025 2nd or Raty, their choice. No, I don't believe that this would happen...
  9. Just a quick question, wasn't Lou the GM of NJ when we traded Schneider to them in exchange for the pick we used to draft Horvat?
  10. Not liquidation mode specifically, we had a lot of talent, but we need to redistribute our lineup. We don't have the right mix here, but we do have enough core talent to compete.
  11. Not panicking about him, just curious as to whether anyone has seen him play for Abbotsford yet and what impression is. It's also likely that he will take time to adjust to our systems, and his lower points could also be how he was utilized in the NYI system. I know this kid has potential, but that doesn't always translate to NHL success.
  12. We don't need a rebuild, we need a redistribution of talent. We have enough talent on this team to compete, but we definitely do not have the right mix. Couple more trades and we'll be good for next season and we'll have a nice high pick this summer in a really deep draft
  13. I have no interest in dumping him, but if there’s a trade out there that let’s us get younger with a first and an A rated prospect, I’d definitely look hard at it.
  14. It's absolutely a massive assumption, it's what we do here, we speculate, WILDLY I think that OEL will be moved or bought out this summer
  15. The assumption is, that OEL would be leaving no matter what.
  16. Sol although I don't think we would, or should trade Hughes, IF New Jersey came to the Canucks with an offer like: To NJ: Hughes Boeser 1 million retained To Vancouver: 2023 1st 2024 1st unprotected (not that I think they would need to) 2025 2nd Nemec Holtz Siegenthaler I would have to at least stop and ponder a defense of: OEL / Nemec Siegenthaler / Bear Dermott / Burroughs / Schenn (assuming we bring him back) OEL has been pretty good when he's required to be #1LD
  17. As I said, there's really only one way it would happen, and that would be based on Karlsson giving them only one team to negotiate with, and that's Vancouver. I don't see this happening either.
  18. Yes, which is why I said, only way it would happen would be that Karlsson tells San Jose that Vancouver is the only place he would be willing to waive for. Canucks aren't going to offer 3 first rounders, but I think they might be willing to do what I suggested.
  19. How has Raty looked in his first couple of games with Abbotsford? My concern with this guy is, he should be dominating in the AHL, considering how well he handled Liiga, and he hasn't been. I know he's only 20, but just expected that his production, considering he was once considered strong contender for 1st OA in his draft class, would be about 1 point per game at the AHL level.
  20. No, C will pass to Pettersson, but not until camp. 4 A's till then.
  21. So, although I don't think the Canucks are going to offer up anything like a 1st for Karlsson, I do believe that the Sharks want to move Karlsson and Karlsson has a full NMC, so he controls the destination. I think my suggestion before on another thread was more around: To Sharks: Boeser Rathbone 2023 2nd round pick 2024 3rd round pick 2025 4th round pick To Vancouver: Karlsson 3 Million Retained 2023 7th round pick (the one we gave to Arizona) NOW, the ONLY way that this would happen from San Jose's side would be Karlsson saying to San Jose, yes, you can trade me, but ONLY to Vancouver! With Mikheyev down for the season, we have the cap space to make this work with LTIR NOW, the ONLY way this happens from Vancouver's side is, we have a plan in place to move Myers either at the deadline or after his 5 million signing bonus is paid (does anyone know if that can be paid early?) Also, I believe that we would need to at the very least, also have a deal in place to move either Garland or Miller. PLEASE NOTE! I'm not suggesting that we SHOULD do this, I'm just suggesting a structure that might work for both parties.
  22. So, there are SOOOOO many players being discussed in the "Trade Boeser" thread, maybe we should have a general player trade discussion thread just for the deadline...
  23. Paging, @Alflives, to outfitting....we need a new enforcer on the team... I already checked, Tonya Harding has a different contract, it's Alf's job to lose....
