  1. Lol, I just want to spend my money on my over priced beer and mediocre food.
  2. Does anyone know a pub to watch the draft at? With sounds obviously
  3. I think the best way to do it is to force/encourage the private sector to do it. We do this through carbon taxes and laws banning things like single use plastics. You create an environment where innovation is forced and directed by the experts of the industry, not governments. . The best alternative for single use plastics are biodegradable ones. Great points have been made in this thread about the sham recycling is. We need more that will just rot away... because we will run out of land fill room. Or burn it. Burning it works too! to the people who don’t like the ban, what do you see as an alternative? Do you not think it’s a problem?
  4. https://www.city-journal.org/html/platform-or-publisher-15888.html i thought this was a good article from the OP’s point of view
  5. I think it is worth mentioning this partly an honest attempt at stifling bigotry and misinformation. We we are entering a new era where there is huge opertunity to manipulate people. This happens through censorship, populism and hate speech. Im not sure platforms, that are intrinsic to our society, should be able to censor or control the content but I’m not sure how you free the internet from it. You have open source platforms but it will never compete a company that actually pays. So it would never be used en mass. It it is very easy to complain about these things. Let’s hear some actual ideas to fix this. We know the terrible things misinformation and populism cause. We also know what a slippery slope censorship is. How do you regulate this without the regulation threating the intention of the regulation? iIm hoping that carefully crafted AI can help with this unbiasedly. Humans have always done this. From executing heretics to censoring World War One to burning books. Our humanity needs to be stripped from some things. AND this certainly has the tone of self victimization. I’m sick of this crap. No one is censoring good conservative ideas or good liberal ideas. I hate using those words, by the way. I feel/hope most people dont align perfectly with one or the other(in the contemporary, divisive use of these terms). It just simplified things.
  6. Tanev(50 percent retained), Sutter(50 percent retained) and a second for Zaitsev, Sandin and a third 2020. toronto then trades Kadri for prospect/picks. They will need entry level contracts moving forward. They won’t be able to rely on FA’s for while, until the cap goes up significantly. Also, this gives them roughly 4 million more in cap space for Marner. Toronto probably doesn’t do this though haha
  7. Here we go again.... haha Im pretty excited about Woo. I went the the game he had against the giants and he was great. On the power play, penalty kill, scored their only goal, defensively strong, passing was crisp and seemed to be on the ice the whole game. Played a ton. Ive gone to see shinkaruk and Lind and was disappointed by both. This was mostly because of my perceived effort on the ice. Woo showed, what appeared to have a professional and competitive vibe.
  8. It’s nice seeing the comets do well recently. It’s great for development. I hope the get Mackewan and gaudette back soon to make a big push for the playoffs. Also, thanks for all the videos etc. Much appreciated.
  9. He just mad you’re in his mom’s bedroom
  10. Looks like his game today is on TSN 2 at 430
  11. https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/?model=hrrr&region=us&pkg=ref_frzn&runtime=2019021105&fh=8 if you’re interested. This website shows a bunch of raw models for weather forecasting. A bit over half the models were showing snow for a few days
  12. Honest question, have you seen reports or interviews saying this was the intention of the GM? Obviously size, skill, speed etc all play a roll in what players are signed traded for and picked BUT so does what players are available. Because even if your value size over other aspects what if these players aren’t available to you? You end up taking the smaller player. We all know how hard and expensive it is to get any good player, regardless of what their entangibles are. Also, what happens when you have a late pick like Point turn out to be a great player? I wonder how intentional it is, and think for the most part, teams do the best with what the have then fans and the media paint a bullseye around it. A team may prefer something they can’t get. Maybe Tampa would love larger players! But they’re stuck with what they have.
  13. I definitely agree with the puck watching. When I see him get scored against I think “he could have easily gotten in a position to prevent that with his elite skating” but no, he’s watching the play. haha. It’s all good though, I have no doubt he’ll figure it out. He’s really impressed so far.
  14. Good post. I mostly agree with you. He has tracked well statistically but when I've watched him, only one game this season and a few last year, he has some bad turnovers on top of lacking dominate physical play. This is fine. People expect the 5th overall draft pick to perform like a 5th overall draft pick in a re-draft scenario, which I don't think is fair. On the topic of rushing players, I think it is more complicated than just devolpment. For virtanen, this is complete conjecture, he needed a more professional environment than junior provides. I don't think it was a devolpment thing.
  15. Then irony I am referring to is “demonize and insult anyone who disagrees with them.” Nothing to do with joulevi but with criticizing hf with what is happening in this very thread. But I gotta say I don’t spend much time in canucks section, just the prospects section of hf. ALS jokes are not cool. I was just trying to comment on some of the pitch forking that goes on here. I didn’t mean to take away from your criticism of hf, which seems well deserved.
  16. Haha you have to laugh a little at the irony here. Just a little. You must to consider the opinion of someone who is disappointed by OJ’s development. There is some truth there. CDC is a discussion board that should be used to find out the truth, not a place where different opinions are harried into retreat. I think joulevi is tracking OKAY. I’m not putting the blame on anyone because drafting is a bit of a crap shoot. Players develop at different rates and different ways and he is progressing, which is awesome. And after seeing the devolpment of virtanen , I am hopeful!
  17. You are correct! https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/juniors/scouts-like-juolevi-chychrun-nhl-draft/sn-amp/ Hopefully it's not the same knee...
  18. I’m jonesing for a shift by shift this year... I have the naloxone ready
  19. Very well put. I'd like to add that our perception of the past is represented by the people that survived and thrived. How is somone to report on these experiences if they're dead, destitute or marginalised. I'd think CDC is filled with mostly well to do folks. Bias and difficulty with objective perception, I think, is strongest argument for the reduction in quality of life. At one point in time, thousands of years ago, these mental adaptations were advantageous. They allowed us to thrive. Now with our extremely complicated world they are a dis service to us. Ironically, I feel the key to creating better times for humans is by dehumanizing ourselves. This especially necessary in politics BUT I have no idea how to do that safety, how to have safe democratic technocracy.
  20. I’m only quoting you because you’re the most recent person people saying how it’s worse now. It is not worse now. Yeah, social media is strange, but does noone remember the terrible things that happened in the 20th century and the strives we’ve made for woman, lgbtq, health, child poverty, education, standard of living, entertainment, communication, transportation, clean energy I could go on and on. You guys talk about toxic politics do you not know about the Dreyfus affair, Huey Long, the Cold War, the rise of fascism and communism, again, I could go on and on. On topic! Im 30 and not jaded yet. I am reasonable successfully making good but not great money. I see my efforts get transformed into opportunities and my mental health is improving as well. It’s only getting better. I am getting jaded in regards to politics. This jadedness is product of disillusionment, not change inpolitics. It really seems no one cares about making the best life possible for the governed via science empathy but fighting for unfounded ideologies with their backs against the wall. PMO -Nostalgia bias
  21. I did some quick math. The top 20 penalty receivers in the nhl take 1.79 penalty minutes per game while the in the AHL it’s 2.55. I don’t know if you’re wrong because I don’t watch many AHL games but do you have any stats or professional analysis to back you claim?
  22. Rathbone with a goal! Just checked the box score.
