  1. The only slight edges I'd give to Hughes is maybe his edge work/agility and even then they're close. But I'd say Hughes is better at finding the open man in the OZ. Dahlin usually uses his natural skills to break in for a quality shot, Quinn likes to draw everyone to him then pass it off to the open man.
  2. September can't come fast enough. At least there'll be training camp news instead of nickname debates lol
  3. Fair enough and to each their own. But for what it's worth that last sentence is pretty much the definition of being pessimistic.
  4. I'm pretty sure you're probably just pessimistic in general. Bear and Granny have both put up numbers for us that were more than fringe. And Pouliot was our 2nd (I think) highest scoring D last year. It was a down year for the whole team no doubt, but would Shinkaruk, a 2nd round pick, and Pedan have been better? What are the worst trades Benning has made in your opinion?
  5. You have to understand that those examples don't help his narrative. Kind of like Pedan for Pouliot or Holm for Leipsic. Say what you will about his trading but he's traded a lot of non NHL talent for NHL talent.
  6. Alright so by your logic we should ice a team of 25 years or younger, and trade any player who plays through injury?... Somebody get this guy Aquamans number! I see a GM of the year nomination coming.
  7. The Sedins were injury prone? Like Henrik Sedin? the guy who damn near lead the league in a very impressive iron man streak?...
  8. Hughes was almost a point per game as the youngest defenceman in the league. What's your definition of dominating?
  9. I'd say the ability to keep your head up is more important than size in that regard. Just ask Nathan Horton. And even if you do get drilled, its not like your career is automatically over. If Toews can survive getting mitchell'd there's hope for everyone. It's a physical sport, you're going get hit.
  10. He made one nice play behind the net with a guy draped over his back in the first period, and moved the puck clean out of the zone. He hasn't been great by any means. But team white is also the stronger team offensively, so it's meant to be a challenge.
  11. I must say everyone putting Try as the #5-6 guy is hilarious. He's not coming back to play there. Top 4 or Russia.
  12. He's also already dominated NCAA hockey as the youngest player. Could be a good time to go pro in Utica or Vancouver.
  13. I think he'd look good in 7 too. Plus it's sedin-esque, as he was drafted there.
  14. Shaking from exaustion trying to catch em lol
  15. If we have to play McJesus for the next decade, having a Dman that can skate with him will help. Hopefully he improves his shot a bit. Great pick
  16. Like any true Canuck fan you assume they're a bust automatically because they're not in the NHL
  17. So EP will be in the minors but Gaudette's starts at 2C? Agree to disagree. EP even has way more expierence playing against men.
  18. Yeah but he's in on 5 of those 11 goals, he is the team!
  19. If Bo is the future Captain, than Brock is sure on his way to wearing an A for him. This kid is pure class and one of the hardest workers. Mixed with his natural talent he's going to be one hell of a player.
  20. Off topic but Gillis aquired tons of the right players to play with what he inherited from Burke/Nonis. Ehrhoff, Malholtra, Samuelson in the offseason and players like Lapierre and Higgins at the deadline. It didn't work out and we lost in 7 (not going to talk about officiating.... not going to talk about officiating.... Deep breath) don't let one game make him go from being arguably the best GM in Franchise history with a cup win, to a bad GM. Yes he did make some mistakes (Luongo contract/getting screwed by rules implied after the fact) but he was a great GM
  21. No GM is perfect. It's about doing more positive than negative, for as long as you can until you get fired. And they will all eventually get fired or at least not renewed. Similar to coaching there's a shelf life.
  22. Did you just assume his natural side?!
  23. I always thought players signed after their college/junior seasons were eligible as well? Or is that PTO's only? Megna and Chaput are understandable since they weren't waived on the deadline day like Gaunce was.
