  1. Dhawiwal says they are not in on Vatanen at least to this point. Hamonic would be a solid fit IMO. I’m sure they will get someone but this is an area the Canucks needed improvement and I don’t think based on cap and whose available any significant progress will be made but I will hold out hope. At least we aren’t spending money foolishly. A good strategy moving forward (not just this year) is only sign players who are willing to come on team friendly deals.
  2. ‪After OEL, Tanev, and Barrie. What is plan D for the Canucks and their Defense? ‬
  3. I’d like to get Barrie as long as we also acquire a defensive D-man as well. That will be hard to do with our cap space though. At this point I’d be fine with trading our 2021-1 with LE for a 7th rd pick. LE has some value to small market teams during covid who need to get to the cap floor but want a higher cap hit than actual salary. might get away with a 1 for two year of LE rather than the 1 for one year of Marleau
  4. Arizona is gonna be in big trouble not only with the OEL situation but they couldn’t pay their player and it’s only gonna get worse with no attendance.
  5. This week It’s clear Benning does not like the Bennings.
  6. Fans should start a go fund me for LE to retire, if the fans did it instead of the Canucks it wouldn’t be illegal would it?
  7. That would be a dream come true I would have mad respect for him if he did that. Maybe retire his jersey or at least ring of honor lol. Wish we could just pay him under the table to do that.
  8. True and agree but I kept the 2021-1st out of the deal because I added(conceded) Hoglander if the reports of them wanting Hoglander podkolzin or Demko are true. but maybe arizona feels they need one of those guys plus the 2021-1
  9. If trade talks ever started up again I’m guessing OEL would waive to come to Vancouver. If that does happen Eriksson would have to be involved, which would allow the Canucks to also sign Tanev which would be a huge boost to our D. if I was Vancouver I’d trade Hoglander, he has nice moves but could easily fail as an NHL top 6. LE Hoglander Woo 2021-2 for OEL i don’t think they want Virtanen due to salary, LE has a huge cap hit but isn’t owed much $$, he doesn’t have that much negative value to a team like Arizona.
  10. Darren Dregger and Rick dhaliwal both reporting Canucks have re-engaged Tanev in contract talks. I’m guessing he resigns today, he doesn’t want to leave.
  11. Concerned with his save % from last season and would have liked 3.5 million or less for any Markstrom replacement but I wouldn’t be surprised if Holtby bounces back and I have more faith in Demko than the average. Overall I’m pretty happy with the deal but wouldn’t have minded saving more cap for other areas. i hope Markstrom gets a ton of money for 3 reasons 1-feel better about holtby deal 2- I really like the guy 3- ties up cap space of potential rival
  12. definitely a dart throw but i like that button had him ranked 50. He works hard and can maybe develop skill probly would have went higher in the draft if not for the russian factor. this could be a steal but still unlikley he makes much of an impact.
  13. I would absolutely do this, MAF is a bargain at 50% of his contract and we get the opportunity to add a 2 (something we are trying to do). I honestly think he is the perfect partner for Demko and solves our expansion draft issues. We’d only save a bit of cap compared to Markstrom but every bit counts.
  14. Knowing that Arizona will have to take back contracts or retain salary I’m all for acquiring him. The cap will continue to go up after a little while which means even with a little decline, the contract won’t look that bad. something like: LE stetcher Virtanen 2021-1 for OEL or OEL(1.5 million retained) for Virtanen Juolevi Lind 2021-1 either trade we shed some salary and OEL at 6.5 million would be solid through the contract IMO. Impossible he disappears as much as Eriksson.
  15. Henrik would be a great backup 905 save percentage this year which is fine for a backup. Some of the other goalies names being mentioned as replacement for Markstrom would only save us about 2 million but hopefully we could convince the king to come out west for a year or 2 a 2-3 million dollar deal. would be an excellent mentor for Demko.
  16. I think the overwhelming consensus is Boeser > Toffoli due to age and higher ceiling. However it is not as simple as keeping one or the other. It’s quite possible we keep Boeser and Toffoli walks. However if we trade Boeser and get fair value back then we keep that value and in addition we keep/sign Toffoli. The trade would have to be for a player on his first year of ELC &/or picks and/or prospects. imo it could be a good idea to trade Boeser as he’s a good scorer but doesn’t have great defense (even though his D has been better this year). I have also wondered if the Canucks would get back more value in a Boeser trade due to him being a good scorer but not great all around. His speed and defense isn’t great even his shot hasn’t seemed the same this year. as with any trade it depends on the return. Having another really good player or two on rookie contracts 2 years from now when the Canucks can really contend could really help.
  17. Would you guys trade Demko and Eriksson for a 7th round pick in order to free up cap space? it would suck to lose Demko but it would give the Canucks more cap space to attempt to sign Markstrom, Toffoli and Tanev this year as well as Petterson and Hughes next year. I would do it because it also solves the problem of only being able to protect 1 of Markstrom and Demko in the expansion draft. markstrom has been great for 1.5 years and we also have mike dipietro as a solid G prospect.
  18. Who’s playing better MacEwen or Eriksson? who should come out of the lineup if/when Beagle is back. rhetorical questions. Green wouldn’t understand though.
  19. With everything that has been happening (injuries, tough losses) the Canucks could use some luck. They are getting luck but it’s been bad luck, not only the 1st period coyotes goal but Columbus blows a 2 goal lead and flames win in overtime. I never felt we were in danger of missing the playoffs because of our lead and I believe we are a good team but it’s a real possibility now. i still think we will make it but definitely not as convinced.
  20. All we have to do is fake two injuries in Toronto and he won’t even take up cap space.
