[Trade] Beauviller to hawks for a 5th
The King of Kings replied to BertaNuck's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I just dont understand why JR/AV acquired him at first place. I remember JR said he wanted a "roster player" in return for the BO deal , but an overpriced middle 6 winger is the last thing the team needs. -

[Buyout] Oliver Ekman-Larsson
The King of Kings replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
This is very frustrating. The OEL acquisition is Benning's fault, but for 2 years , they have extened Miller,Boeser,Kuzmenko and acquired Mikheyev and Hronik WITHOUT clearing significant cap space first! That's on Allvin. -
It has to be the OEL trade because it happened in the salry cap era. for the Nealy trade, you may say the assets that the Canucks aquired were less valuable than what the Bruins got. for the OEL trade, the Canucks got NEGATIVE values from the acquisitions. Not only they got the assets that have a lot less value than expected, the cap hits of OEL and Garland prevent the management to acquire other pieces to improve the team.

How long until we are competing with Vegas & Colorado?
The King of Kings replied to Nucks89's topic in Canucks Talk
When the Canucks keep being mediocre or below average(9th to 14th at the west), and when Vegas and COL both tank for rebuilding. -
Who here is actually happy with the Hronek trade?
The King of Kings replied to Odd.'s topic in Canucks Talk
If the management made up their mind that they're not gonna "rebuild" (like it or not), then I am fine with the Hronek acquisition. And I believe that giving up a 1st round pick is pretty much a must I just dont like the fact that, they also attached a 2nd to the deal, instead of sending some contracts/cap relief to the Wings. When they traded Horvat, they eat back the Beau contract and retained 25% of Horvat. How come there's no money going back to the Wings for the Hronek deal? Why the management was ok for that deal when they knew they have huge cap problem? -
Let's Not Panic -- Cap Situation is NOT that Dire
The King of Kings replied to HKSR's topic in Canucks Talk
Most NHL teams have cap problem, and JR/PA succeeded some bad contracts, so I dont really mind. The issue I have with the current management is that, they keep digging holes for themselves. They had all the chances to trade at least one of Miller/Boeser/Garland since last seanson's TDL, but they did nothing fo those big contracts. I believe there was a market for Myers too. Also, they were able to trade Bo, but why took back the Beuvillier contract? In comparison , they traded for Hronik without sending a contract away? And they re-signed Kuzmenko without a moving away one or two contracts first? -
Thr Myers' bnous won't be paid until September. But by the time between the June Entry draft to Free Agency to September, most teams would already planned on how to spend the cap or already used up most of the cap. There wont be too many teams having 6M cap space all of a sudden on Sept. Young rebuilding teams like Arizona wont pick up a 30-yr old Dmen unless you attach prospects/picks to the deal.

[Signing] Canucks sign Max Sasson
The King of Kings replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I really hoped that the "major" offseason was the last one. Too bad it looked like the management refused to make big/bold moves without having their man behind the bench, and they kept patient instead. There are three overused terms by this management group: CapSpace, Right-Handed Defencemen , and Patience. They did nothing to improve the first part; it took 20 months to make one move for the second part; but man they do have patience for player transactions. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Max Sasson
The King of Kings replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Why would Canucks fans be excited about signing UFA defenseman, with all the overpaid signings like Harmonic, Myers and Poolman... -

The King of Kings replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
the team has too many wingers. With the fact that they probably couldn't trade Pearson, and both Podkolzin and Hoglander need full time NHL spots (if they stay),the Canucks need to trade two of Boeser/Garland/Beauvillier -
Hits and Misses - Evaluating Rutherford and Allvin
The King of Kings replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Canucks Talk
Hits: Dollar for dollar, Harmonic for a 3rd is the best deal they've made. I still can't figure out how they could possibly pull this one off. Misses: The fact that Rutherford told us that, he didn't know Bruce was given a 2-yr deal still annoys me. Was it his job to find out the basic backgound and status of the existing personnels who would be working under you during the interview? -
What is Your Offseason Wishlist/Priorities?
The King of Kings replied to Diamonds's topic in Canucks Talk
It's not easy. How do you find takers for the likes of Pearson and Myers. Why NHL teams want them? Also, It's not about how little the returns are for those players, it's about what the Canucks want to add to get rid of those players. Note that they traded two 2nd rd picks already this season. -
“It's not the cycle we're in to trade high draft picks.” “I want to be careful with our trades,” said Rutherford. “I don't want to trade draft picks, unless they're later round picks. It's not the cycle we're in to trade high draft picks.” That recognition of where the Canucks are currently is key and one that the previous regime seemed to struggle with, pushing just to make the playoffs instead of maximizing a window of Cup contention.
