  1. Actually Ratu (who is a 2nd rd pick) cancels out the Canucks' 2023 2nd rd pick , so... It's Horvat for Hronek and Beauvillier and a 4th.
  2. the longer the team holds on to Schenn, the less the return is. Similar case for Motte last year.
  3. what a line-up when you consider that players with NHL contracts ( OEL/Schenn/Bear/Dermott/Poolman/Stillman ) are all out at the same time.
  4. Is Lane Pederson back with the Canucks already (scratched), according to the Canucks official app?
  5. In another point of view... If the Canucks decided to sign Horvat at the summer instead of Miller: Horvat's contract would be around 6.5M to 7.8M, not 8.5M Also the return from a potential Miller trade would have been higher if he's traded at last season's deadline or at the summer (i.e. durng r after the 99pt season). The Horvat at Feb 2023 was a rental while Miller last season was not.
  6. Tha would be quite a scene when fans throw a few of this jersey on the ice
  7. I am wondering though, which player would give the Canucks a bigger return: Miller at last year's deadline, or Horvat at this year's deadline?
  8. In hindsight, I really hope that the management just let Boeser go for free last summer, or simply matched the qualifying offer at 7.5M for one season.
  9. that's an interesting comment because the Canucks, Leafs and Hawks are the most active teams on the trade market after this season started.
  10. First of all, got to give credit for what it is due. The Hamonic deal was fantastic! but in many occasions, fans here overestimate the assets of their home team. Remember lots of fans here wanted a 2nd rd pick in return for Motte last season? At the end there was a huge gap between the fans expectation and the actual market. And hey, this season I saw a few posts in this forum suggesting "Schenn for a 1st" already.
  11. That is a big IF here I think fans here would agree that his unnecessary penalties are one of factors for the Canucks' failure. It's unfortunate, but the team is playing +.500 hockey after he was excluded from the lineup. So I really can't see a second in return for the CURRENT VERSION of Pearson.
  12. there is no way you can get a 1st in any deal for the current version of Brock Boeser. Which team would do that? Pearson a second I believe that means the Canucks need to throw in a 2nd round pick to get rid of Pearson? just like Dickenson?
  13. I would love to see the management traded Miller before the trading deadline of last season, but I agree that 7x8M is not a bad contract once the management decided to keep him. The Boeser signing is a worse signing in my opinion.
  14. Last season, Miller was doing lots of shouting both on the ice and in the dressing room, and many fans here considered it great leadership. I remember there were lots of posts suggesting putting the C on Miller. Those fans want a vocal captain instead of the silent type.
  15. It's impossible to tank if they keep playing .450~.550 hockey. in order to tank in this season: 1. Demko comes back immediately, be the starting goalie, and continues to struggle until April . 2. Trade Horvat and Kuzmenko asap (trading them on March won't cut it)
  16. I really wonder what would the team be like if the Canucks decided not to re-sign Boeser last summer. Fans here complain about the Miller signing everyday (due to the J.T./Bo comparison), but the Boeser signing is the one that crippled the team.
  17. Wow, why would an NHL team offer a package including a 1st rounder for the current version of Brock Boeser? So Mr. Milbury got his job back for the NYI?
  18. The team are performing well with this jersey recently.
  19. it is impossible to tank with the high scoring roster like the Caucks have. and with the cap situation around the league, the canucks can only mak one or two moves involving big name/contract players. if the trades involving Horvat/Kuzmenko are near the deadline, it's too late to tank hard. the big blow-off will be during the offseason, i.e. after the draft lottery.
  20. actually the lightning made some sacrafice of their own too. they couldn't keep Gourde and Palat.
  21. He has a good start, but he is unproven for the Stanley Cup playoffs, and actually he hasn't prove himself in a full NHL season yet. When you talk about "late first rounder", you are talking about contenders here. I guess they would be looking for more proven playoff performers if the price is a 1st rounder.
