  1. I actually wondered if Bruce would play Demko back-to-back, given the players just had a super long break.
  2. One positive about the long break is that, now Bruce has the privilege of playing Demko at LA, back-to-back games.
  3. The concept of international competitions is about winning championships, but Never about Best on Best. You are going to have TONS of "Power House vs 3rd-tier Team" matches. That's what it is, same for all the sports in the world. I'll just watch the NHL , NBA etc for the Best on Best competitions. The concept of international competitions is that you are proud to wear your country's uniform and compete fair and square, even you are going to lose 0-15 three straight games at the first round. Having a tournament that heavily favors two specific countries could be nice for the entertainment value, but the concept is not the same as Oylmpics or what a World Cup tournament should be.
  4. It is a positive. And it comes at the right time. They have four defensemen in protocol (Myers, Poolman, Schenn and Hunt), and two are hurt (Hamonic, OEL). The break will buy them some time, and will be beneficial to all the D-men of the team.
  5. that's why the world cup cannot replace the Olympic games. It's very strange that the World Cup follows rules of one specific league instead of the international ones. They are having referees from two countries only which is unfair to other participating countries. The involvements of players from other leagues are minimal. And the main tournament itself never left the same continent! How can hockey fans outside of of the North America be excited for a tournament like that? And yes, the concept of 'team europe' is just not right!
  6. Fans were extremely harsh on Cloutier and Potvin those days (Hirsch and Weekes too in some occasions) The most well-liked goaltender at that time period was Bob Essensa.
  7. In this case, it looks like "Assistant GM" is not the same as "assistant to the GM". GM is a job position reporting to the President. Assistant GM is another job position reporting to the President. Both positions serve different functions.
  8. By looking at the standing, we should find out that a team actually needs to be 4 to 5 games above. 500 in order to start any conversation regarding the playoffs.
  9. Actually, trading 1st round picks two years in a row (20 and 21) , is not considered "rebuild".
  10. Of course I have more than 12 posts. For some reason, this forum deleted all my posts which were posted before some certain year.
  11. Sorry for bringing it back again, but I think it is a relevant thread for the current situation, and we can reassess now.
  12. Three shutouts in last four starts... https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/phi-vs-cgy/2021/10/30/2021020123#game=2021020123,game_state=final,game_tab=stats
  13. Six points in five games so far... https://www.nhl.com/player/nate-schmidt-8477220
  14. I am sorry I didn't follow the whole story closely. But why did the Canucks traded both Schneider and Luongo in two years? I could understand why the Canucks traded Schneider as Luongo's contract made it difficult to trade him. But why did the Canucks eventually traded both, even they needed to eat up part of Luongo's salary?
  15. The Canucks traded Juolevi two months after re-signing him. https://www.nhl.com/news/canucks-trade-olli-juolevi-to-panthers/c-326733984
  16. That would have freed up 6-mil per year. It could help the current RFA situation.
