There biggest mistake was basing there comments on what they expected.the vaccines acceptance to be. They based it on the last few major vaccine roll outs. This is a problem that is 100%,caused by the anti crowd They were.quick out of the gate with new terms.like division - discrimination- tyranny and Patriot. It's still wrong that hockey hasn't been moved to the summer Olympics. With modern Ice abilities they could host hockey during the summer months and potential even grow the sport globally even more when it's played in non traditional winter cities They need to move it so it doesn't collide with the NHL season and additionally by doing so would provide recovery time prior to season start

We are at a point that we need to have an open and frank public discussion about Unvaccinated people. we know they are the largest driver of hospital numbers and I believe fatalities. If every person in public was vaccinated I believe we would be out of this mess already i don’t know what the solution is but so long as their are unvaxxed this virus will continue to mutate and continue to cause chaos to our routines never have so few had such a great impact on so many.

I think it’s more the lessons learned last may/June. People were in such a rush to ditch precautions and the anti crowd used the changes at that time to push their narrative masks indoors were still recommended for unvaccinated but magically overnight 100% of the population said they were vaxed I think for most if not all there is no one wanting the outcomes worse or cheering for bad numbers. The issue is that the early reporting that this variant is much less severe is being coupled with the narrative that this is endgame and proof that all restrictions need to be lifted as it’s nothing more than a cold virus We can all have hope in the early reports in thisnvariant while still wanting us to make sure that early data remains consistent here in BC for a few weeks before jumping head first into end game planning for this to transition to an endemic

Reasonable and the right types of new restrictions leaves schools alone and focuses on entertainment more so than anything else. and it’s only 4 weeks so gives time to determine the factual healthcare needs and risks Then based on actual facts on the ground here in BC they will be able to either remove or continue restrictions after Jan 18th

One thing that us for sure is this is a no win situation for any government Bring in restrictions and the anti crowd will scream democracy is lost Don't bring in any restrictions and be blamed for all of the fall out and for any deaths at all Take the middle road like we do in bc and just try mitigation restrictions and people then scream it's prove to be just a cold and it's time to end any restrictions No matter which the option they get roasted and the Facebook Trained experts will blame government for not following there beliefs

Also another marker is health care sites in outbreak. Residents of BC long term care are nearly 100% fully vaxed. Laat summer we got it down to 2 sites I believe before it exploded again in total numbers of sites in outbreak On Friday BC was down to zero health Carr sites in outbreak. The next 4-6 weeks is a hold your breath phase and if hospitalization/mortality rates and site outbreaks remain low and trending that way then we can begin to hope this is fading...... but not until then I add in long term care as that's the best indicator we have regarding break through infections when the group is fully vaccinated I get it the general public isn't at the 99% plus rate but if we don't see any further sites go into outbreak by end January they could point to the fact that vaccines not only work buy are 4he path to ending this once and for all

This is the same issue I take with people declaring it's now endgame and over based on one report from Africa People forget that in May we saw the same thing here in BC and our numbers dropped like a stone and by all reported data the beginning of the end was in site for covid Then of course tye 4th wave exploded and we know that story I think this is one time we all want the early story to be true... however this is following the same path we went down last May. None of that is fact and frankly is dangerous. Something s simple as early lifting on indoor masking greatly impacted the sharp climb of the 4th wave and until medical facts declare this variant endgame it must be treated as dangerous. No one likes any restrictions but really ... few if any restrictions have been imposed in BC and outside of masks and large gatherings have reduced limits we are pretty much business as normal waiting till medical experts make the call that it's winding down is the prudent thing to do and the consequences of not doing so would see major new lockdiwns as we are now seeing across Europe

I think the NHL should adopt something similar to the NFL starting Feb 1st if the medical facts conclude that this new variant isn't anywhere near as sever - continue safety measures in place - continue player testing until the WHO declares it to be an endemic. At that point only symptomatic individuals need to be tested - for the new variant any testing positive be allowed to return immediately following one negative test - for all others testing positive with Delta variant maintain 2 negative test requirements

It's at tge point that most teams will have a few players off on rotation all season. I agree it's time for a 2 week circuit breaker and then get back to fully manned teams playing

Exactly..... we don't have to get into debates on the severity of this variant or any other details. A simple 2 week break for all teams right now with I instructions for players to simply go home and relax would be all the circuit breaker needed In my opinion Break the chain Instead of simply chasing shadows over and over

Not one report is calling this endgame yet . We all hope it is but really could we not create one single covid thread and push all of these kind of items to there ? Weaker reactions or not the nhl is not going to let positive players play and nor will other players be willing to play against them The only hockey related portion of this is that this should mean a quicker return to play as players won't have as many symptoms still lingering once they test negative
