  1. Up to speed now equals up to Toews speed. Cool, will remember that moving forward. You are both entertaining and now have offered a new dictionary. Toews, as I stated above, is a HHOF talent and very player style compare to PLD. PLD is an outstanding talent and to try and diminish him through a trollish compare on stats from a veteran cup winning team with a generational winger with Toews to the stats for PLD was disingenuous. You seem to dislike being called on your BS troll work whilst offering up comedic brilliance. Please don't stop either, highly entertaining.
  2. You are gold. Keep at it. Entertainment value these days is hard to find - you provide it well. Cheers and thanks!
  3. LOL Sam, for your sake alone I want the big guy to succeed. You have been his biggest proponent here and every time I see you post, I know how well you will give a reasoned supportive message for the big guy.
  4. Who is putting Hamonic on a pedestal? On GDT I made the point that Hamonic struggled in that game. He was top 2 on Flames last year in ice-time and has been a top 4 in the NHL for years. Tryamkin is a prospect who is getting older all the time and remains to be "working on things". BTW, McDavid flies by a lot of top four Dmen in NHL.
  5. You watch a different game than I do.
  6. You seem to have his number wrong. Goodness sakes dude, he was smooth as butter out there with a great first step. Watch the game again if you can and concentrate on plays he made against LD for example. At speed he readily kept up, changed position and calmly broke up numerous plays. He is a big guy so not a waterbug type skater but he was very noticeably smooth, mobile and more than sufficiently up to game speed.
  7. What most of my coaches did and what clients now say too. Sure you are not my agent in disguise? Some people above who used it to make a point that PLD was not up to speed as a 21 year old. I disagree, this kid has a tremendous ceiling but the joker who made the comparison rarely makes sense so I simply like having fun with him I personally think Toews is a tremendous player/leader and HHOF lock who in no way should be compared to PLD as entirely different type of player.
  8. Can agree with that....he could make Vancouver next year but he would not be an upgrade to Hamonic.
  9. Sorry, I am not sure on what you are doing for your comparison but Hamonic can arguably play in the top 4 of most any team in the NHL and Tryamkin would be lucky to get one-way contract offers from most. I continue to be amazed at the legend this guy has become in a league where Nigel Dawes is equivalent to Connor McDavid. I liked the big guy as a prospect and the Canuck D circa 2017-18 desperately needed some prospects with upside but given the depth they have assembled and the emergence of other prospects, I personally (may be only person here with that opinion) that this guy could current crack the top six with the Canucks and perhaps not even the NHL/taxi line up.
  10. I see a lot of people talking about BB's shot but what I really noticed in the snippets of camp that I could get to see and then watching the recorded game last night was how much quicker he seems than at any point over the past two years. Look at a number of the line rushes from the game and it looks more like the BB that blew past Dmen in college with frequency. That speed combined with an elite shot could easily have him back to where expecting a full season of 30 to 35 goals should be his basement and not his ceiling.
  11. Doubt very much Vancouver leads the Regular Season but expect them to be in the top 4. I still think Leafs are vastly overrated and I don't like the Flames "soul" and expect it to be a "soul crushing experience" for emotional guys like Marky and Tanev. Habs are a wild card for me - so much change and so many veterans that could all have good seasons and make a difference that really shows up in the standings. Winnipeg not as bad as people seem to think - just not sure what they are either. I also think Ottawa will nip at heels and even pass a team or two. I like their youth. Going out on a limb and thinking that Habs or Leafs will lead in points but one of Canucks, Jets or Oilers will win the playoffs in the West.
  12. Ya, Dubois has a veteran Cup winning support team around him and Kane on his wing too which makes it more obvious this kid isn't in the class. Plus, we know stats are everything. How dare such a comparison be made by many hockey people.
  13. For a "rookie" playing first regular season game, he was actually outstanding. So many cool, calm and collected plays that oozes confidence. The one hiccup was more of him being hooked but as he didn't have an Oilers jersey with 97 on the back, it wasn't going to be called. He made some really good passes and some well-timed pinches and rush joins. Foot speed looked good. Nice start OJ!
  14. Vancouver’s new name after EP40s amazing 20 year HHOF career
  15. Any team would be nuts not to kick the tires on this kid. This is one player worth risking future draft picks on. Given the youth the Canucks have, this is worth at least one first round unprotected pick plus one grade A prospect and a roster player not named Hughes, Horvat, Boeser or Pettersson.
  16. I am still in awe of the pass EP40 put onto Brock's stick given how long EP had to take the pass from Hughes and find Boeser perfectly keeping him onside.    In f*ckin' awe.

      It's a Swedish thing!!!

  17. He is the biggest Peter Forsberg fan of all time and feels EP40 could get to that level of on-ice vision even as early as this year. The other current NHL players (I had to ask him of course) for ability to make that play in his eyes are Niklas Backstrom and Erik Karlsson. He said Claude Girox is at the next but close tier and that if you include the past decade he would put a pre 2015 Joe Thorton and Henrik Sedin on that list too. Notice the Swedish content (and Thornton looked like a viking for much of his career).
  18. I noticed an effort by officials to call most anything when McDavid was "impeded" but Pettersson was mauled twice. I don't mind protecting elite players to let them perform at their best but at least be consistent. I hope that is not a sign of the times for this season with there being two tiers of officiating. I also thought Vancouver got away with a few on Bear. Wasn't impressed with consistency of zebras in this game.
  19. OK, I think we should all stop before someone comes out about that "one time at college and we were all really drunk...."
  20. Got sent a text with this YouTube link from a good friend/colleague who played the game many years and is still in the game for business - he knows hockey - and the text was simple "there are maybe five players in today's NHL that can make that pass on purpose with that little time thinking about it, and three of those players are Elias Pettersson. This kid is better than people realize no matter how good they think he is."
