  1. What moves made by Hughes makes you think they're tanking? Hughes is building something and a landlside of injuries over the past two seasons have made them.look far worse than they are. They aren't in tear down mode. They're in build and progress mode
  2. Savard and Matheson are thier only good veteran D. I doubt they have any interest in moving him. If they do he'd be part of a package to upgrade and get a guy in the same age range as their young core. They have the depth and draft capital to do another Dach/Newhook type deal
  3. I think he had a sinus infection or something and the blood vessels in his eyes ruptured on the flight to a game
  4. Must have just caught you right. Lol. I remember when that happened to his eyes. Talk about intimidating your opponents
  5. All three are Americans who were/are playing in Canada. That may or may not factor in. But something to consider.
  6. I don't think it's nearly that simple. A lot of things will factor in. Like if he's happy with rhe direction of the team. If his demands meet the cap structure available, and how much he wants to join his brothers (assuming NJ has interest and space for him then) Time will tell
  7. You'd probably do a massive overpayment by NJ that they'd never offer? I mean. Just say what you mean. There's no reasonable deal to be made that both teams would consider
  8. Only 2 teams can retain on a players contract. Pittsburgh and Montreal are both already retaining on Petry so that's it. Detroit can't retain anything if the try to move him
  9. Every team is above the cap floor already. So his value to those teams is being overblown. Every gm knows the Canucks have cap issues. They not only won't give up anything to aquire Myers, but they'll ask for a sweetener to take his cap hit for the year.
  10. Montreal already has a glut of middle 6 forwards aavd with retention they'd essentially be paying over $7m for Beaulivier. I don't really see a fit there from Montreal's perspective. If they're retaining they'll be looking for picks or prospects. Vancouver doesn't really have excess on either of those fronts. Plus. It's been suggested (and I don't currently have a link to support this) that all 15 of the teams on Petry's no trade list or in the western conference. He wants to stay close to his family.
  11. The owners locked out the players for an entire season to get the salary cap. Then the players held out another half seadon to get the hockey related revenue split to 50/50. Lets not even get started on escrow. Do you honestly think suggesting teams can spend as much as they want is something that will EVER happen? So yeah. You're wrong. I don't miss the pre cap days when a handful of big Market teams could overpay to get whatever player they wanted.
  12. It's tough to know. They're a better team than they showed last year because they were decimated by injuries. Suzuki was the only guy to play every game. They have a very young team. I don't think Hughes and MSL are interested in tanking but I don't think they'll rush the process too much either. The move today made sense on a lot of fronts. I think you'll continue to see Highes make moves like that. Moving their extra late 1st for a high talent but yet to break out guy like Newhook (and last year with Dach) certainly shows the path they're taking. Dach, Caufield and Newhook are all from the same draft class. Suzuki is only a bit older. Slafkovsky is a wild card right now. They have young NHL quality D by the fistful, with more coming. I think they're looking to be competitive down the road. But not too far down the road
