  1. The Rangers only have $2.278m cap space and that's without Lafreniere. They can't afford Boeser even at 50% retention and they could barely afford Garland at full retention. I doubt they see either as an attractive substitute
  2. There's nothing unethical about them. The problem with offer sheets is they're ineffective, You overpay for potential and you put yourself in an adversarial position with another GM. Essentially eliminating them as a potential future trading partner.
  3. Yup. And some dream of playing in a hockey crazy market. Everyone is different. People making a mountain out of a molehill
  4. Just like some Montreal fans were counting the days until Lecavalier or PLD were coming to the Habs.
  5. People were expecting Toronto to use the buyout wi dow to buy him out. If it came and went with no explanation on why he wasn't bought out they'd face a firestorm from the fans and media
  6. Or, he's actually suffering from the effects of multiple concussions and is unable to play.
  7. The injuries players are willing to try to play through during the playoffs aren't a real indication of health. Look at Weber and Price in Montreal. Both write wartiors in their cup run. Weber hasn't played a game since. Price tried to come back but only managed a handful of games. You have no idea what the state of Murray's health actually is. He's certainly had enough conclusions to lend credibility to the ltir claim. If other teams, the league or the players union had doubts they could file a grievance.
  8. Luongo chose to retire rather than train to get into game shape over the summer. That's your answer. This is no different than Pearson and Poolman being on LTIR for Vancouver
  9. If they're looking to add goal scorers the three guys you suggested aren't the answer for them. None of them broke the 20 goal mark last season and all of them are overpaid for what they do bring. If Nashville is looking to aquire goal scoring they'll take their business elsewhere
  10. Like I said. He never won an individual trophy. During his playing days He had well documented issues with his behavior on and off the ice. You can whitewash his behavior and dismiss it if you like. But he's an extreme right wing conspiracy theory nutcase who used his kids urine to cheat his way through drug tests. Yeah. He scored some points. He's still not the kind of person you want to hold up as an example to young kids.
  11. Cool. But retiring a number is as much a PR move as it is a celebration of the player's accomplishments. You're celebrating the person. He's not deserving of that honour
  12. Meh. Fleury has been a polarizing figure going back to his playing days. His attitude, history of substance abuse (he used his own infants sons urine to cheat drug trsts) and problematic politics just don't make him a likeable enough guy to want to celebrate. Yeah. He was a point a game player during the firewagon period of hockey. Lots of guys were. But I don't think he ever won any individual awards.
  13. Toews has been fighting long covid and there have been several recent reports that he's considering retirement
  14. People need to stop throwing around the term "elite" for average players. To me elite means top 5-10 players in the league. There's nothing elite about Garland
