  1. Would be great for Healy and Simpson to learn words other than 'shocking'. FML.
  2. Daniel needs to be scratched and forced to watch hours after hours of footage of him doing fly-bys on Dmen in the offensive zone. He is so unwilling to play the body. You don't need to crush a guy, you just need to separate them from the puck. You don't even have to knock them over. Just get in the way.
  3. ....what? He's been the Canucks' fastest skater two years in a row....
  4. Yesterday I learned how to ignore users. I'm really going to appreciate that function.
  5. This is where I come to ease the pain of a loss, can't thank you enough SCSB. I will be livid if Gillis deals any prospects at the TD. Whatever tplayer(s) GIllis could get in return would still not be enough to put the Canucks into the upper echelon. Let's bring the kids through the system the right way (send to them back to junior or Utica next year).
  6. I was dissapointed when they glossed over the details and took the audience for granted. In one scene, DiCaprio begins to explain penny stocks and then says "you probably stopped listening by now" (or something to that effect), and just moved passed the details. I don't like directors making the assumption that I'm either stupid or just don't have an interest in learning.
  7. The Oilers D is so soft. The Canucks need to make the Oilers pay in their own zone. Best way to shut down Hall et al. is to make them run around in their own zone. Since Ference is out, the Oilers' D is seriously AHL-calibre: ? - Schultz Potter - Petry Belov - Marincin
  8. Anchorman 2: 2/10 Should have asked for my money back. The movie wasted my time, I'm not going to waste more time describing why it sucked. Will Ferrell is terrible and hasn't made a good movie in what seems like ten years.
  9. It isn't so much that there is a league conspiracy against the Canucks as much as it is there are a bunch of idiots working for CBC and the league. PJ Stock says stupid things about literally every team. That is why he is there. It is easy to hate his face and even easier when his face starts speaking. But that's what CBC wants. If they cared about having articulate analysts, they wouldn't have hired Stock. There are a hundred retired NHL players just like Stock, but Stock gets hired because he's the one willing to be the CBC patsy. He wasn't hired for his informed opinion, he was hired to cause controversy. CBC took the Fox News style of news delivery and applied it to their NHL broadcasts.
  10. When Torts isn't fired up, yelling, and acting like an idiot, he is quite an endearing person and a very genuine guy. He can definitely provide his side of things in the meeting and hopefully can do so calmly.
  11. It is certainly going to be the key difference that justifies the suspension. However, I don't think it is borderline crazy, just not thought out. Torts was ragin' and had tunnel vision. He wanted to go after Hartley, but Hartley made things worse by (1) not acknowledging Torts' rant to start the period and (2) hiding behind his players and coaching staff during the intermission. I don't have the .gif, but there is one out there that shows Hartley pop his head out to the tunnel and then shrink back into the room. Hartley's decision to start a fourth line was what dictated the game. Westgarth isn't a centre, that line had not played a single shift together all year. Hartley claimed that those three had been playing well together, which was a total lie because Blair Jones was making his first game back after a knee injury. Hartley's poor decision forced Tortorella to choose between two bad decisions (put the Sedins out and risk them getting injured or put his fourth line out and risk the melee). What Torts was not forced to do was start something in the tunnel, and for that he has to be held responsible.
  12. McGrattan wasn't on the bench. Was most likely aimed at SOB as he had just wandered over from the D-Man side of the bench. That's what I hope anyway. Guys who have taken steps to address their alcoholism shouldn't be targeted about their past alcoholism. If you're a guy like SOB who hasn't done anything to really address his behavior, he deserves to have shots taken at him.
  13. Former user name was sea_of_red. Hahahaha. It'll be at least another five years before the Flames make the playoffs. Makes sense that he'd change his username given that it is so rare to actually see the 'Sea of Red' at the Saddle Dome.
  14. What? Any team's coach would be suspended for what Torts did.
  15. Why not? Its similar, though certainly not the same. Comparisons don't have to be of identical things. The differences are that (a) Roy didn't intend on the glass tipping over ( b ) the incident happened on-ice. The similarities are that (a) Roy did something stupid ( b ) he put people at risk of injury.
  16. He could turn down the in-person hearing and do it over the phone. If the suspension can be 5+ games, the 'offender' has the right to an in-person hearing. If they don't want to travel, they do not have to exercise that right. At least Torts could pay Brooksie a visit.
  17. He deserves a suspension, even if I understand why he did what he did. Interestingly enough, IMO, if it wasn't for Brian McGrattan playing peace-maker, that incident would have been a lot worse. I have a lot of respect for McGrattan after his After Hours interview. Last night helped me appreciate his role on the Flames. In no way did he try to go after or antagonize Torts. He held back his own coaching staff and made sure things did not get out of hand. Good on him, he probably saved Torts from being suspended longer.
  18. Exactly. The risk, no matter how small, of having the Sedins get taken advantage of against a fourth line that was clearly put out there by Hartley to send a message is too great a risk. If you're Torts, you don't think about what 'analysts' or 'fans' might think, you do what is best for the team. What is best for the team is to avoid putting your star players at risk of injury. The downside is that you put your 4th line guys at risk of injury. You choose the lesser of two evils. That's why Torts apologized to his players last night. Torts doesn't believe that a coach has the right to tell players to fight, but he basically forced his 4th line guys into that position. That is the difference between Torts and Hartley. Hartley has no respect for his fourth line guys and uses them like pawns (just ask Scott Parker).
  19. Worst mod on this board. "I didn't watch the game, but here is my uninformed opinion anyway. Maybe you should see what happened to start the game, the type of tactics Hartley uses (treats his players like pawns and then acts the coward). The team didn't resort to anything. They played the game the right way.
  20. Karen needs to learn what off the record means.
  21. Mike Milbury called out Hartley for hiding behind his team. Eddie Olcyk also commented that nothing would have happened during the intermission if Hartley had confronted Torts earlier instead of hiding behind his team when Torts was yelling at him.
  22. DiCaprio's role doesn't seem that much different from Catch Me if You Can or The Great Gatsby, which is why I don't think he'll win an Oscar. It could be an excellent acting performance, but its just the same acting performance. He needs to stretch himself if he is going to win an Oscar.
  23. Anybody know what happened to CaucksHD? Used to post tons of Canuck vids for us here on CDC, but hasn't posted any in 8 months: http://www.youtube.com/user/CanucksHD?feature=watch
  24. When Luongo didn't get traded, you'd think he'd have been happy and just shut up. But no. With no trade talks, he has nothing to say so he just spews garbage for attention.
