Hindsight.  Sometimes you trade a "blue chip" asset for an established one and walk away a winner (Shinkaruk as some have mentioned), sometimes you get egg on the face.  They said he was a proud "lonely star", almost like he was above others on the team.

@Jimmy McGill if you had McCann would you trade him for Pearson, and what would you do if the opposite was true?  (I think it would only be a marginal improvement even if Jared was here since at most he'd be a 2nd line wing or 3rd line C and we could bump Gaudette to play wing).  Would probably be a wash in my books between Tanner and Jared.

Pearson is more valuable to the Canucks as he is a left winger who plays a heavier game with BO.  McCann is a natural centre who has ben converted to the wing, smaller player who will get his points but will never be a high end type player and wouldn't fit in on the current Canucks team.

I think I'd rather have Gaudette than McCann. 

One thing is for sure, Benning sure can draft.
