  1. Here comes another future case of rushing another promising young player. My condolences to Broberg's career. Why can't Edmonton just let their prospects develop a bit. Haven't their fan base suffered enough?
  2. Even though you are probably right they could always trade or buyout a couple of guys so it possible.
  3. Benning should call them up and offer Loui for a years supply of rice for the whole team lol
  4. Nope, just saw it. Figure it's a typo but figured I'd see if cdc heard anything
  5. Saw on wiki that Ferland is playing for vancouver. Typo or upcoming signing?
  6. What was the reason for him not being taken in the first round? On paper he seems to have all the tools and the drive to succeed but surely there must be some holes in his game that scared off some scouts. With more are more smaller players making an impact in the league you would think there would be less biased towards the bigger players unless of course skating is an issue.
  7. Does anyone know if Panarin has Vancouver on his list of destinations he's visiting?
  8. Is the case of him dropping due to teams scared that he's only doing well because he's more physically mature than most of his peers? It's kind of ironic that a lot of prospects are held back till they mature physically yet teams are sometimes reluctant to pick players who are already mature. I know there's more to it than being strong but he seems to have the tools to potentially make it, just a matter of how well his skill set translates.
  9. Part of me is kind of bummed that the chances of us going after Panarin are now Almost none. Sure, they could technically still afford him but they still need to upgrade the defence which won't be cheap and they need to be wary of the future with Pettersson and Hughes getting paid.
  10. Don't see all the fuss here, they acquired a top six forward which this team desperately needed. If the Canucks are at least not playoff worthy by 2021 then there's something greatly wrong here. Yes the defense needs work but we will have a full season of Hughes and maybe Juolevi as well. We still have cap to add another defenseman in the free agency and you have to think with the experience the core will get within two seasons should be enough to elevate us to fight for a playoff spot.
  11. If Calgary is looking to move Neal would an Eriksson for Neal swap make more sense? Neal is slightly younger and far less removed from a 25 goal season. He would be slightly cheaper but at longer term. Calgary might be willing to take less term and if Eriksson could rebound a bit, he could still be an effective 3rd liner for them.
  12. My grandfather was there and thankfully was not on the first wave but none the less was very fortunate to survive. I never met him as he died before I was born but according to my dad he was very hush about the war. He never saw glory in it, just something that had to be done. My dad was shown a picture of himself and his squad, he was the only one who survived.
  13. Another trade involving moving higher ceiling for a higher floor, not complaining though. Like many of said it reeks of the shinkaurak/ Granlund deal. Hopefully it turns out the same way.
  14. I think the difference between the AHL and NHL is the expectations. In the NHL you have to produce and making mistakes can cost you ice time while playing in the AHL is mostly about development so mistakes are forgivable.
  15. The one question I have is have the Canucks reached out to him to see if he even has any desire to play in the NHL? I know typically there is dialogue but in this case it seems like they are hoping he's willing to come over.
  16. He fits the bill for what they are looking for being highly skilled and fast and he's such a long shot just based on his draft position alone so what the hell. It's more interesting than drafting a bunch of hopeful plugs.
  17. Just saw it yesterday and I'll give it a solid 7 out of 10. Visually it's very impressive and even though im not African or black I can appreciate the culture they incorporated into the universe. The few negatives I have revolves around the story being somewhat simplistic and not a whole lot of characterization. The action is good but fairly standard for a marvel movie and of course theres enough comedy to keep the mood light. Overall I'd say it's one of the better marvel movies that been made.
  18. I don't fear what I cannot control. If the powers that be want to start a nuclear war then what can a single insignificant person such as myself do to stop them? Nothing. I hope to go out in the first blast in that case because the idea of living in an apocalyptic world is more scarier than the war itself.
  19. The debate to wether he's a top six or not is pointless in my opinion because he has the potential to be a factor even when not scoring. Goldobin is a prime example that without work ethic pure skill is not enough. If Gaudette can come in a be a great two way player while chipping in a few goals here and there then he would already surpass expectations for a 5th rounder. Becoming a top top six is just the cherry on top.
  20. I guess I'm in the minority because I liked the last Jedi. It wasn't a masterpiece and it didn't answer the questions from awakens but then again it would have been lazy to make Ren a Skywalker or a Solo. The whole point of the movie was to transition from one generation to another, was it done perfectly? No but I think it was for the best.
  21. I admit I don't watch him play and rely on the the information if others but from what I've heard he sounds like a Hansen 2.0 in the making. He's not a big player but has top end speed, grit, tenacity and decent hands. I don't know if he's as good defensively as Hansen but that's not a bad player to become if he makes it.
  22. I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about Pettersson, or any of the prospects for that matter, but from what I heard and read I was really hoping to get Glass. Glass just sounded like a more sexy and exciting player which is what this franchise desperately needs but like I said, what do I know? Hopefully the Sedins will stick around long enough to mentor the boy and hopefully his supposed chemistry with Dahlen translates to the NHL. We could be seeing the future 2nd line of the Canucks.
  23. Guardians of the galaxy vol 2 7/10 In my opinion the first one had a bit better story while this one focused more on the relationships between the characters while being much more over the top. They did a good job of answering a lot of the questions for the first one and in the end it's obvious what direction the third one will go in.

    Olli Juolevi | #48 | D

For some reason I never got excited about the possibility of drafting Tkachuk, maybe because up till now is was always between him and PLD who I was higher on. Tkachuk will no doubt be a good player and I would have been happy to have him but nobody can doubt his stats were inflated. I dont think we will see Juolevi for a couple of seasons so it's really going to suck watching him rack up points in Calgary, his stats will get inflated again playing with Gaudreau and Monahan. I just really hope Juolevi becomes a top 2 defenseman to make up for the inevitable whining that will ensue shortly.

    Olli Juolevi | #48 | D

My initial reaction was disappointment and honestly I still am to a certain degree. After finally coming to terms with losing out on the top 3 and getting excited about getting PLD or MT, the kind of forwards the Canucks need, the pick was bit of a shocker and it doesn't help seeing the damn oilers get rewarded yet again for sucking hard. That being said, I have little insight on Juolevi and I do trust Bennings judgement so I'm going to be as optimistic as I can. If Juolevi reaches his potential or at least close to it then the canucks will have a player teams would bend over to trade for. The drawback to defenseman is they take longer to develop so it sucks that we likely won't see him for a long time, kind of like a shiny new toy your parents put away till your older.
