  1. This signing is starting to look good. Maybe was adjusting to the new linemates and new system. 4.6 million is not a bad signing for this guy, as the year he was a UFA, there were not much out there, and there will not be much out there this summer also for defencemens. This signing Jason Garrison at 4.6 is as good as it gets, considering what was out there in the summer of 2012 and 2013. He's starting to look solid for us. Hope he can continue to improve. Most dmans play their best at age 30 +
  2. watching some of the highlights, I don't even think his skating is a problem, personally I think his skating is ahead of Sedins at the same age.
  3. Many scouts also pegged Ryan kesler as maxing out as a 3rd line centerman. I was so damn pissed when Canucks picked Ryan kesler, I was like wtf is this b.s? Are you kidding me? Ryan Kesler? How bout Tambelleni or Mike Richards? another 3rd line player? (we recently drafted another safe pick in Nathan Smith at the time so I was really really pissed off) but guess what. Ryan Kesler almost notched 50 points with a busted hip. Things turned out well.
  4. http://www.bellevillebulls.com/video/index click on video's and watch Gaunce score his 3 goals. HIs 2nd goal was pavel Bure like.
  5. Brendan Gaunce is one of their top offensive players, on a defensive team, from a player who plays a solid 2 way game. He is currently 2nd in team scoring 2 points behind Camorosa but who played 8 games more and 2 years older. At 26 overall this is a steal of a pick if you ask me. Anyone thinking we should draft Subban with maybe with our 2nd pick.
  6. It's quite sad..... I really wanted this to work out. We have a BC boy here, willing to take a pay cut to fight for his hometown team, bleed, sweat, and fight for the team. So far a huge disappointment. His +8 stands out very well, but beyond that, I'm quite disappointed in him. Really am. NO joke. 4.6 million is a huge overpayment and they say he already took a pay cut to come here. Looking at it last July, the list of defencemens on the UFA table wasn't that much, and yes, it was him, Denis Wideman , and Matt Carl were the big name free agent defencemens. You can say for the price those players went for, Gillis hit the jackpot at 4.6 million. But he is the biggest disappointment this season. I don't even think you can say he is solid defensively. I don't see it. Last year I will say he had the benefit of playing with Brian Campbell. He really did.
  7. Me too, however just so you know, they tried that on him in the AhL and it's failed miserably.
  8. The difference is Salo is probably done after the next season. So it's to different situations. Would love to see Gillis try to swing a move for Sami Salo this summer or even at next years trade deadline. That would be epic.
  9. Whats the time frame for the adjustment? Just wondering. Christian Ehrhoff, Dan Hamhius, had no issues adjusting to our system right away. Oh right, those are defencemens at a different level, I forgot that, despite being payed the same, he is not even at their level. I do however hope he snaps out of his slump.
  10. The problem is that Garrison has made everyone he paired with look bad. We all seen it first hand. Him and Edler, Edler looks bad, HIm and Bieksa made him look bad, and he also made Hamhius look quite bad. Put Ballard there, means we screw Tanev if you pair him up with Garrison. Unreal, we are better off playing with 5 dmans then having him win the line up. Give Cam Barker a shot. i can't see it getting any worst then Garrison.
  11. I realized it from the first day. It's just really too bad we coudln't get things done. I honestly believe someone like Christian Ehrhoff deserves more money then somoene like Kevin Bieksa. Heck after Hank Dan, then Ryan Kesler, I really believe Christian Ehrhoff is our next best player. ... Ehrhoff played with a shoulder injury. Also without him, I don't think our team would have won the Presidents trophy, Sedins woudln't have won art rosses, and we wouldn't have made it that far that year.
  12. I totally agree with you bro. Losing Ehrhoff effected the teams overall powerplay and offence. Without him, I don't think either Sedin would have captured a Art Ross. Just like how WAyne Gretzky relied on Coffey's end to end offensive rushes and skill, this team really depended on Ehrhoffs. I was very sad from the day we lost Ehrhoff IN the last 2 seasons we lost Ehrhoff followed by Salo, replaced by Garrison and Tanev (Promotion from within). I'm looking at this summers UFA list, wow, what a terrible list for defencemens. Next years look much much better.
  13. He didn't play a lot because he's been scratched many times this year.
  14. He's been terrible. He will be this years new whipping boy unless he changes his game quickly.
  15. "oh damn I think its best for him to stay center" after tonights game. " oh damn I think its best for him to stay as a left winger"
  16. No, only because he's not good enough, he's not even good enough to play on our 3rd line. Now we know why he's struggling this year, and I now I totally understand why he's been scratched so often this season.
  17. He's not 5'9. I took a picture with him, and i'm only 5'8. I'm easily at least a full inch taller then him. If he's 5'8.5 then i'm 5'10, which i'm not. Not that it really matters at this point. If he's good enough they will give him a chance at playing.
  18. why would you put Schroder on the 2nd line when Kesler was very good for us on the 2nd line? I don't get CDC sometimes.
  19. Nothing against Gaunce, but Couture has far more offensive skills, then Gaunce, even heading into the 07 draft, Coture skill sets including, very high offensive skills, as for Guance, solid 2 way player. Look at Coture last year, he made the all star team. I'm not knocking on our own prospect, no no no, but just sayin.
  20. What?? No speed? no speed and short is a bad combination. I swear, Jordan Schroeder was the 2nd fastest straight ahead skater in the 2009 draft behind Magnus Paajarvi. Anyways, I took a picture with him one time. Jordan Schroeder. I am 5'8. I was clearly taller then Schroeder by at least 1.5 Inch. I'm sorry to say, he's not 5'9. It's exaggerated.
  21. I forgot we signed this guy. LOL
  22. The day we are happy with 3rd line players in a luongo deal, it means it's a very very very sad day.
  23. question is who is was better at the age of 18 Brendan Gaunce vs Nicklas Jensen. Jensen 29 goals 29 assists 58 points in 61 games Gaunce 28 gooals 40 assists 68 points in 68 games.
  24. HOw do young players benefit from playing with other young players? I don't get this. I heard about how veterans can mentor younger players, but not younger players mentoring other younger players. I still scratch my head when people say, "Oilers" is the best fit. I'm not sure about you morons, But I can tell you a young dman can benefit more from playing with Salo, Hamhius, Bieska, or even Edler, or in other words, one of the best defence cores in the NHL then playing with Cory Potter, Cam Barker, Theo Peckham, or whoever plays for the Oilers defence. Just my 2 cent. I'm not going to slam his decision, he wants to "grow" as a NHL player, again, not sure how you will "grow" as a player playing along side Cory Potter Pechkam or Cam Barker, again, It looks like Shultz wants to by pass any developement to the NHL, and wants NHL ice time RIGHT NOW. He wants powerplay minutes RIGHT NOW. He doesn't want to earn, it, he just wants it RIGHT NOW. He chose the worst NHL city in the world just so he can play in the NHL RIGHT NOW. Canucks can move on. MIke Gillis does not operate a team like this. He does not gauarantee any prospect UFA ice time they haven't earned yet. Maybe this time Gillis could have lied to him, and gaurantee him the ice time, but in the end giving him bottom 6 minutes, I don't know. I know succesful businessmen, how to lie every now and then. But again the Vancouver Canucks are a team of that rewards their players if they are good, and if they are bad, they will need to undergo further developement. I Agree with what MIke Gillis's decision not to offer an unknown prospect ice time. It is kinda sad, I was hoping we can get a free high end prospect, but as Mckenzie said, he's just an above average prospect. But I support what Gillis's decison all the way. I don't think he dropped the ball at all. Good luck to Shultz and the Oilers. I think it's time to close this thread and talk about July 2 2012.
  25. but honestly I hope he doesn't get booed...... it doesen't make sense if he does. He chose a team that met more of his demands. nothing more. Move on. I do hope Kassian levels him though.
