Pens signed Letang to this contract just to keep the team relevant while Crosby still playing. No other reason.. They won't be cup contenders but will be playoff team for next cpl yrs before Sid retires.. can't have pens be bottom feeder to end Crosbys career.

Stanley Cup winner will be getting a 8+ mill per year long term deal.. Teams win with a guy like Kadri.. that's why he'll be in high demand as UFA.

I don't think Miller gets traded until trade deadline. Canucks will try their best to extend him and only trade him if they can't get him to sign extension. Depth at C position is super important.

It's very important to be deep down the middle. JR and Alvin will try very hard to extend Miller. EP Miller Horvat down the middle is a huge strength. Need to build up D and add size and speed.

I read somewhere earlier that Alvin started working on signing Kuz before the ink dried on his contract to become GM of the Canucks. He worked for a long time and very hard to get Kuz. Alvin made Kuz decide he was most likely going to be a Canuck well before the interview tour to the other 4 teams. Him and his agent just doing due diligence and hearing the pitches from other teams. See how other teams approached the process. But Kuz knew unless something spectacular happened during trips to these other teams he was going to be a Canuck. Alvin had been selling Vancouver and making Kuz feel Canucks saw him as a core piece for the next 5+ years. Alvin had built a connection months ago.

Hmm. It sure helps to have star players as team mates but Makar has to be considered top 3 player in the NHL. Maybe top 2 after McDavid.

Why would they trade away a 21 year old stud Dman. They can re sign Kadri for similar or less money than Miller will get. They're not giving up Byram for 1 year of Miller. They'd rather keep their own players. Avs have 3 ufa Dmen. Byram is rfa. He'll move up the get a bigger role next season.

Makar is something special. What a player. He will take the Conn Smythe this year. He's only 23 yrs old. What a stud. 9 mill a year 5 more seasons. Great cap hit for a superstar Dman. Once in a generation talent.

Most likely SJS will pay the difference between what kane will make on next contract vs what he would have made with SJS. Kane won't get the full amount from SJS plus all of his next contract. SJS will likely pay 1 to 2 million per year depending on Kanes salary next contract. Kane will make all of his money from SJS contract but paid by 2 different teams.

Nichushkin is a great 2 way player with size and speed. 27 yrs old UFA this summer. He's going to get a huge raise from the 2.5 mill per/yr last 2 seasons.

Tampa face Dallas and Montreal in SCF last 2 years. This year they're facing the best team from opposing conference.

He wants a top 6 role and will want top 6 money. One of the fastest skaters in the NHL and has good size. Not a great finisher but great speed and forcheck. Mikheyev or Copp. I'd be happy with either one.

Salary Cap. 6 mill cap hit.

Shevchenko is such a great fighter. One of my favorite MMA fighters over all. Tough challenge with a tall and very strong opponent in Santos. But Shevchenko showed heart of champion and was great last 2 rounds for the win.
