  1. There has been plenty of indication from Miller that he wants to remain a Canuck. Whether it's financially feasible is another story.
  2. Allvin is very familiar with Marino, and it seems that he made no attempt to acquire him. Maybe Allvin knows something we don't ?
  3. We’re not getting Schneider .2nd OA or Bratt. Hate to be a Debbie Downer but I believe none of these assets are on the table.
  4. I dont think there's a chance in hell ,a team is going to give up a 2nd OA for an almost 30 year old player
  5. Jordan Schroeder and Derrick Pouliot. edit: also thinking that Olli Juolevi could at least be a serviceable NHL d man.
  6. The Canucks had a down season in 2007-08 (two top players on RHD injured), In 2006-07, that group were a 105 point team.
  7. Disagree, the McDavids,Mackinnons,Crosby Ovechkin players only pop up every 4 years or so.You could purposely tank every year, and still not get those players. in the finals this year, both teams had a #1,and a #2OA picks on their roster. Canucks have never picked higher than 5th this whole millennium, despite finishing with a terrible record on several occasions. Look at Arizona this season, you cant have a more premeditated tank than that team. Picking 3rd in the draft ? I do agree that the team should have been accumulating futures, especially between 2013-17,but they did not. They were competing for a playoff spot all those years.
  8. You could have finished dead last in the league and tanked for 10 consecutive years (proper rebuild) , and still not picked 1st or 2nd OA. Pretty much all the players you listed but one.
  9. If Myers went to FA right now,he would likely get $5M. That is the rate of exchange for RHD. He’s not grossly overpaid. The management will have to execute plan A before any talk of moving on from Myers. It will be interesting to see if Allvin can pull it off ?
  10. Ah ok, I thought we were talking under the assumption that we would be replacing Myers via UFA (not trade), hence my concern.
  11. I completely agree that we could use a different type of D man than Myers. The ones you are describing. After Myers, there isnt anyone on our roster, or in our system that can replicate his minutes on RHD. He is the only legitimate top 4 RHD we have. I just don't see how you can acquire these players you're talking about, without substantial dollars and longer term. It just reads as a lateral move at best.
  12. I'm not sure that you're going to get much back for Myers. Would his replacement be cheaper, when all the dust has settled ? We all know the UFA rate of exchange for a RHD. Any replacement is going to want top $, and 'term' You're right back to square one.
  13. No problem, RHD are as cheap as chips.
  14. Agreed on strengths and weaknesses Trotz definitely has a leg up on game structure, and Boudreau has an innate ability to motivate players.
  15. Yes, Trotz has won a Stanley Cup, but is he the 'right' coach for this particular group of players ? (its not one size fits all). He was fired the other day, there's obviously a reason for it.
  16. Honestly, I dont see JR trading primarily for picks (who are years away), I see him trading for younger players. Completely sewering prime years of elite players contracts (EP has 2 more years) would be shortsighted right now. Bringing in another coach right now would be a distraction, right off the bat. The players have fully endorsed the coach, and the results under him, tell the story
  17. He obviously isnt the long term option, but he's correct option right now. Yeah, so Miller had a career year, even if he doesn't match . I think that Hughes ,Petey and Podz are going to improve their stats next season
  18. Should be interesting. Seems like there's a mutual admiration between the hockey club and JTM.
  19. An icon of the hockey world.Glad I got to see him him play .I was in awe watching him as a kid...RIP
  20. Halak crapped the bed in about 4 games, but he is not the reason the Canucks are missing the post season Halak played well enough to win a number of games in the first quarter of the season, but the team couldn't (didnt) score when he was in net. Not getting any points from the Red Wings,Sabres and Blues (I believe ?) paints a bigger picture.
