  1. 4-2 Oilers with an empty netter. Draisaitl with GWG. Horvat with the first Canuck goal.
  2. It's admittedly a bit of an optimistic projection, but I don't think it's entirely unrealistic.
  3. I'd say it's probably reasonable to expect somewhere around 15 goals and 15 assists if he plays all 82 games and gets notable PP time.
  4. I'd bet Myers would do okay in fights just due to size. Chiasson has also had 10 career fights so far and is 6'4", 208 lbs, so he might be a decent fighter too. Miller has fought twice as a Canuck and I figure he's not too bad at it.
  5. If we have cap and contract space, I'd like taking him. Langley boy too, so he'd be returning home.
  6. Love his truculence, but 2 points in 34 games isn't good enough for even a 4th liner. Add a mediocre pre-season on top of that and I'm not devastated, though I will miss him a bit. He was a likable guy and probably our best fighter.
  7. I know Tanev was an undrafted college signing. I think the rest were drafted though.
  8. Probably an okay deal, but it might not age super well unless Ekholm himself does.
  9. I'm guessing he'll be at about 1.00 points-per-game. I'd love a bigger improvement, but even getting to 1.00 would be nice. I'll guess about 72 games and thus, 72 points.
  10. Reminds me of Devils captain choices: Bryce Salvador Andy Greene Jamie Langenbrunner Hard working, though not flashy players.
  11. I liked him, but he was a bit disappointing in this pre-season. It's hard to take on additional players at this time of year for any team, so there's a chance he passes through. He also didn't really score at all last year. Chiasson outperformed him in the pre-season. Hopefully he can be serviceable during the regular season as well.
  12. I liked Burroughs in the pre-season. I think he could be a capable #7 guy.
  13. Moved to "Current Roster"!
  14. Deciding to move Ferland to "Alumni" since there's almost no chance he ever plays NHL hockey again.
  15. Weirdly enough, last year, Lammikko's DZ faceoff percentage was actually quite a bit higher than his OZ faceoff percentage. 39.4% in the OZ and 47.3% in the DZ. I think he's a bit of an anomaly, but I've noticed that it's not terribly uncommon for players to be better in the DZ, for whatever reason. Oddly enough, the same is true for Dickinson, who had 38.8% in the OZ and 46.6% in the DZ. There are counterexamples, though. All four main Canuck centres last year were better in the OZ, though Miller was only just barely. Beagle was 59.0% in the OZ, but 52.5% in the DZ. Sutter's difference was even more extreme at 60.6% in the OZ and 52.3% in the DZ. Perhaps most striking of all is the monstrous difference between Horvat in the OZ and DZ. He's 61.5% in the OZ, but a much lower 43.9% in the DZ. It seems like getting his stick down first is very significant for Bo.
  16. Very interesting. A quick look at NHL.com does suggest that OZ faceoffs are a percent or two higher than DZ faceoffs on average. I'll try factoring that in for future reference. Thanks for informing me, both you and @SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME.
  17. I thought that was only the away team that had to do it, but maybe I'm mistaken. I'm no expert on faceoffs.
  18. Interesting. I haven't thought about this before. Why is this? Is it related to taking a faceoff on a player's "weak side" or something to that effect? What is it about defensive zone faceoffs that makes them harder?
  19. Agreed. I probably disagree with a lot of Dickinson's feelings, but I'm glad he feels free to share what he believes. Just as I was glad that David Booth felt free to share his beliefs, I'm glad that Dickinson does too.
  20. I don't put a lot of stock into the pre-season, but I will say that I've been pleasantly surprised with OEL so far. I will be crossing my fingers that it continues as he faces the elite forwards in the NHL.
