  1. Close enough to 0, that the odds of even making the playoffs are listed at 0.0%. http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL.html
  2. One of Lind or Gads could be picked by Seattle if they show too well here. They may already have an eye on one of them for the draft. Canucks could potentially start next year with the top-nine of: Hoglander-Peterson-Boeser Gads-Miller-Podkolzin Pearson-Horvar-Lind Is it good enough to compete? Do they try and bring in some other top-end talent? I don’t know if there’s enough grit there.... And on D? Do you bring Edler and Hamonic back? Because if so, you end up with basically the same group again: Edler-Schmidt Hughes-Hamonic Juolevi-Myers How do you upgrade the team of everyone comes back?
  3. Still riding the GME train. Almost 300. Let’s go!
  4. Can’t trade Motte. Schmidt? He’s finally turned his game around recently, just need to see more offense. Hamonic? Sure. Next year probably includes: Edler (cheaper, short-term deal), Hughes, Schmidt, Myers, Juolevi, Tryamkin(?), Rathbone(?), Rafferty (?). Probably have room for one-depth guy - is it Benn? Hamonic? Other?
  5. I'm relatively optimistic the team will turn it around, but not this year. They've lost too much ground. They're not playing well. Everything is going against them, and there's only 30-odd games left in the season. Team next year must include [untouchables] Pettersson, Horvat, Boeser, Hoglander, Podkolzin, Motte Hughes, Juolevi Team should include: [players kept unless a significant hockey trade/improvement is available] Miller, Beagle, Pearson [re-sign him as a solid top-9], Gaudette, MacEwan Schmidt, Edler (but only if he re-signs for 3-4 million), Myers (only because other RHD options are likely worse) Demko, Holtby (as a stop-gap for another year) Team should move on from: Sutter, Virtanen, Eriksson (anyone....), Roussel (one year left, should find a taker...), Benn, Hamonic
  6. I’m still in on GME and AMC from the last run. Waiting this out - no paper hands until 10k!
  7. My goal has always been teaching, which I’ve been fortunate to be able to do over the last decade - but I actually transitioned into leadership positions in the last few years along with completing my Masters. Combine those experiences with living overseas, and pre-covid, traveling, and I’ve been able to accomplish a lot of my “career goals”. I’m constantly exploring new areas of teaching and learning, and at some point will want to transition back home to BC/Canada.
  8. Equivalent to going on an 8-game losing streak during regular times.... fire someone!!!!!
  9. With a six-game losing streak pending. Are they going to do anything before Saturday....? Because.... losing 10% of a season in a row is dire.....
  10. Just jumping on the bandwagon for the giggles. Only throwing in a few hundred.
  11. I’m jumping in on the GME and AMC buys today. First time into stocks, mostly doing it to avoid boredom through this month. Hoping it goes the moon.
  12. Curious if there are any lineup changes.... Shake the team up a little.
  13. Well this is one way to help Demko improve his SA%. 25 shots by end of first. 75 shot game?
  14. Defense is going to burn out if Baumer/Green only play Juolevi 8 minutes a game. Either play him, or sit him for someone else. Playing Edler, Hamonic, and Myers 20+ minutes is not going to be helpful. Lots of other issues too, but this sticks out. Need all the defensemen to be playing at least 12-14 minutes.
  15. I’ve lived in Wuhan for a decade, similar to Smokes I think. They locked the city down until May. Since then, everything’s pretty much back to normal. Schools re-opened in September as usual. Most people wear masks outdoors, but it was around maybe 70% in September because of everyone’s comfort level with how much it’s been taken care of. With more outbreaks in other cities in December, sensitivity has been much higher recently and seeing more things like temperature checks, increased barriers limiting entrance points to locations, more locations checking Health App tracker again, etc. Luckily not a single case in Wuhan since the lockdown ended. Fingers crossed that the Chinese New Year and millions upon millions traveling doesn’t lead to any problems like it did last year.
  16. My guess would be that should read 2:00 pm scrimmage
  17. Yes, I am still in Wuhan - couldn't really leave in the summer for a vacation back home, as at the time borders were closed and if people living in China wanted to keep their jobs, would've needed an invitation letter back in (which weren't being granted). My colleagues and I all stayed through the summer in China, and it's only been this month that China has permitted visa applications again, meaning many of my colleagues are now on their way back in. The outbreak led to a 60+ day full lock-down where myself, and all colleagues, were essentially locked into our apartments and couldn't leave. Some of us were lucky to be able to walk our pets in the complexes we live in, but mostly quarantined. In May, the city tested all 11 million citizens (estimated) and found any residual asymptomatic cases and mandated hospitalization. Since then, everything is "normal" - in the sense that no cases have appeared. By definition, in China, asymptomatic cases are not considered in the numbers, but here's what I know: -There was an outbreak of a few people in Beijing in May/June, and they shut the city down and tested everyone in a week. -There was another outbreak, I forgot where now, and they tested everyone quickly and found the cases. -This week there were 2 cases (meaning with symptoms) in Qingdao, and they shut the city down - and are testing everyone. The "new normal" is: --about 70-80% of the population wears masks everywhere in public --mass transit requires masks at all times --hospitals require masks at all times --entering many major areas (ie. shopping malls) require masks --schools require fever checks upon entrance and leaving school every day --if you have a fever, you must have a negative covid test before returning to work or school --if you leave the province you are in, you must get a negative covid test before returning to work or school --anyone returning to China from abroad must have negative covid tests done before arrival, and upon arrival in China. Followed by a mandatory 14-day quarantine, at your own expense, in a hotel designated for quarantines. --if you are found to have covid upon return, sent to a hospital for as many days necessary until testing negative -- even if asymptomatic. I'm aware of a couple people in the hospital (isolation ward) for 30+ days before being released back to another 14-days of quarantine. I know there's skepticism of the numbers, but I don't get the sense anything is being suppressed. At the local level in December was where the major problems occurred with reporting and sharing information. Once it reached national level, major actions were taken and local levels lost a lot of control, or at least had more oversight. We will see as we go into flu/cold season in the fall, but it's nice here now knowing that a) it's being thought about seriously and b) life is pretty much back to normal now (+masks). Cheers,
  18. Their center depth is weak and have an excess of wingers. I wonder if they'd look at Sutter+ (maybe a Brisebois or a pick) to bring in Gallagher. Cap is roughly the same.
  19. Is what it is. At the time, it wasn't reported as being transmissible - lived a month through it in Wuhan when it was just a "suspicious" flu. It's too bad the information wasn't more accessible early, but I don't think it would have made much difference knowing how international the city has become with flights. Countries weren't going to stop all incoming flights on a whim, especially when there are many different outbreaks (plague, H1N1, etc.) that pop up in Southeast Asia each year. Luckily for those of us still inside China (or Wuhan), everything has been back to normal since May due to testing of 11 million people - and haven't had any cases emerge in over four months.
