  4. linden is a hero to Vancouver hockey fans......why would he risk his legacy.
  5. technically, Lou leaving isn't ther end of this era. That won't happen untill the Sedins/Kes are gone as well.

My belief is that. Something has transpired to create this situation. Like the Sedins are actually retiring at the end of this year.....all the players know it, management knows it. And the 7 million contracts are a distraction for the fans, so we will continue to support to the end of the year.

If they knew they were retiring wouldn't more people want to support/see them play and buy memorable merchandise before they are gone forever?

who knows what the out come would be but by not saying anything you can't do any harm. If you did say this was the last year. That some fans might want to see them more but, at this point, with their production and the teams lack of fight. A lot would just give up and wait till things change. Out come being less fans in the stands.

  6. ok, what 30 goal scorer can we trade Dalpe for now, offer lasts only till the end of the game.

  11. This will be the most.....managed game of the year, in an effort to make this high profile game as exciting as possible. I would count on it going into OT.
  12. Edler, I believe will come around. Some of the best defensemen in this league never matured until they were in their 30's. He's biggish and has a long reach, the only mistake was paying him top money before he was a top d-man. This is a new trend in the league, thanks to player agents now running teams, contracts awarded for next years potential performance instead of last years performance. Remember the good old days where you were rewarded for a solid year. For example, you cant just pay guys Lidstrom type money and expect them to turn into Lidstrom, because that's what you wish you had. Just look at the Oilers. I'm ok with losing Kes, depending on what else happens with the core. You can bet that Kes has talked with the Sedins about this wanting to be traded as well. I would say that there is a 50-50 chance that the Sedins will retire after this year. I think that they will look at their stats, look at the concussions and injuries and the fact that the NHL is a meat grinder and realize that they can go back to MODO and be superstars for another 6-8 years, rather than hang out here and get pulverized for a paycheck with little to no fanfare. speaking from my own perspective at 46 years old. Once you have some financial success in your life the only thing that are a concern are family, health and happiness. They don't need money and they could go back to being superstars in Sweden for the rest of their careers, with a lot less chance of getting brain damage in a dysfunctional league, a la Pavel Datsyuk Kes wanting out is not a desire to leave but more of a wake up call to management to rebuild or go with someone else. My belief is that next years Canucks are going to be a far different team than this years. Gillis will recommit to Lu, keep Kes, make him the captain, and that will become the refreshed core on this team. Awarding the Sedins 7 mil. contracts was only a distraction from the obvious fact that they have already retired.
  13. Did Harper get his beer yet?

  14. Puck luck and favorable bounces are created by working hard and doing all the little things right. You can't just put a mark on the calendar and say this is when it will arrive.
  15. well, if Toronto is ever going to beat us....now is their best chance

  16. Blame everyone but the Sedins.....Sedins don't step up...fire the coach!....Sedins can't score....It's cause Burr is hurt.....4 wins in 18 games....fire the GM.....

Its the GM's job to surround his star players with good supporting cast. What has Gillis done in this department in the past 2 years? All the while, the teams around us got better, bigger and younger. But yea lets blame the Sedins because father time is catching up to them and they're not in their prime anymore to be able carry the team on their backs. These two guys had led this team as an offensive fire power for years without any legit top 6 forward to play with.

  17. I swear someone has paid the team to tank the year, al la Black Sox
  18. distinct kicking motion on that Edler goal :-)
  19. Remember that show where the coach said something inspirational, and the team responded.....well thats what I'm saying now!
