  1. Yeah he has more goals and points than Pettersson. I guess there's no disputing he is the #1 pick if there was a 2017 redraft
  2. Lol Boston is known to be a clutch team and the one time the Canucks needed the Bruins to be clutch is when they choked
  3. I mean if that's your opinion fine. In any event my point is that I'm a Canucks fan for better or worse, even if people don't agree with how I feel with the media
  4. Hey this was from the Vancouver media TSN 1040 and Sportsnet 650. If you are going to question my fandom maybe you also need to question theirs' too then This is not my take but from the media that supports the Canucks and that are in the know of what's going on in the NHL
  5. That is fair. But in the category of wins and losses this is an L for Benning. Problem with Benning probably is bigger than missing out by picking Juolevi though so I can agree to this
  6. I think it was in TSN or Sportsnet that said it best Canucks beat a team that were reported to be the least motivated in the bubble (which made sense considering the won a cup a year prior) and Vegas I forgot who said it (might have been someone based in Toronto Steve Dangle, Tim and Sid, one of those), Canucks had nothing left againts Vegas and it was the goaltending keeping them alive. Edit as for the Leafs Habs, Bruins are the one that made it to the finals and Caps are the president trophy winners. I think the other playoffs they lost to was against the Bruins and they were also a very good team at the time
  7. A bust is a bust no matter the circumstances. Pretty sure people here aren't giving Milbury any slack for picking DiPietro as the #1 overall and getting rid of Luongo in favor of DiPietro.
  8. Ah yeah both are true but keep in mind The Leafs were eliminated twice by a team that eventually made it to the finals that year and one against the President Trophy winners. And even if they get bounced this season can anyone really blame the leafs losing to Tampa or Florida? Vancouver only made it to the playoffs once and made it to then 2nd round once since the Leafs started becoming a playoff team. And they eliminated a team that was ready to leave the bubble and wasn't even that motivated to win the series
  9. This (meaning the post this quote replied to) aged well Unlike my reaction when Pettersson was chosen ... Please for the love of god I hope no one finds that here
  10. Strangely enough even if Canucks were drafting over positional need there were 2 other team that were ranked similarly to Juolevi that ended up being elite d-men
  11. Would people here agree Demko + Miller for Matthews (if he agrees on an extension if the contract expires)?
  12. I'm just not comparing him to past Canucks GMs but also GMs from other teams. Benning is no Yzerman or Ken Holland. As some analyst from TSN said. "a monkey can draft in the 1st round" it's the late rounds that determines if you are a great drafter or not
  13. Yeah so I guess Benning always has final say even if Benning preferred Glass over Pettersson in the end of the day his regime picked Pettersson. So I'll give him credit for that. That said, as what some said here already, Benning is only an amazing drafter relative to Gillis. It actually he's been pretty good but until his picks have produced a Brayden Point or a Jaccob Slavin, I don't see him as stand out drafter
  14. Toronto's problem is that they paid the big money in the forward position. But like it or not Toronto is at least a consistent playoff team something Vancouver isn't. Besides as Ray Ferraro once said in TSN, he would rather overpay for star players (which was what Toronto did) than depth guys (which is what Benning did)
  15. My story might be mixed up but didn't the Oilers scouting department wanted Murray over Yakupov? So I guess someone in the Oilers organization overrode their scouting department's decision
  16. I dunno I remember in 93/94 during the regular season talking to my elementary school friends and a friend of my cousin that were high school at the time. Most agreed that Canucks were not a good team
  17. I love how we Except as recent as last season people here we're saying to be patient with him Also to be fair these are stars the Tucker Poolman defenders here will use (even +/- see he's defensively good lol)
  18. I think going up 2-0 in 2011 and losing it all is also a dubious distinction. I know Detroit also suffered that but at least they already won the cup I remember someone mentioning statistically going up 2-0 in the finals ensures like a 80+% of winning the series. Edit if this probably actually had merit. Canucks had better odds not to drop in the draft lotteries than losing the finals at 2011 Conclusion I think the hockey gods just hates the Canucks
  19. As the guys in Sportsnet said. Motte is a good player but not the one Canucks should be extending considering where they are at the moment. What he brings is more suited for teams that are ready for a deep playoff run which the Canucks aren't.
