  1. After every questionable move by Gruden, another little piece of me dies. What is that man doing to my Raiders? More and more I’m becoming less of a fan of that team (and I have been on board since the early 1970s), and just a fan of the NFL in general.
  2. Long ago a few members of the Broad Street bullies were arrested in Vancouver for their actions in a game against the Canucks. I believe Ed Snider, the Flyers owner harboured some resentment towards the Canucks about the incident.
  3. I love my Canucks, but this year is all about watching the young prospects develop and learning how to play without the Sedins. A new team identity will start to emerge. There will be some bloodletting this year. Guys like Gagner, Erickson, MDZ, etc They are what we thought they are. Time to cut bait and move on. You won’t see any of these guys have a career year. Scoring will continue to be a problem, even though our pp will continue to outperform other aspects of our game. Defense and goaltending will continue to be on the bottom 1/3rd of the league. It all adds up to 29th overall, because, well there is Ottawa and the Habs,. I am excited to watch Bo and Boes continue to grow and flourish and I super stoked to watch EP40 work his magic. I think that it’s a make or break season for Jake and I’m hoping that he can put up 20 goals and 20 Gordie Howe hat tricks. I am really hoping that the injury bug does not hit hard again this year. I would love to see Edler, Guddy, Tanev, Baer and Granny all play 70 plus games this year. If they do, the team has an outside shot at a wild card. Unfortunately we have seen these guys go down for long stretches over the past few years, and that has been a major problem. I don’t see things changing on the injury front, hence my prediction of 29th overall. I think that the Sharks will beat the Laffs to win lord Stanley’s chalice. Edmonton and Winnipeg will be the other CDN teams in the playoffs - sorry Lames. TBL BOS and Pitts will also perform well in the playoffs
  4. Nice comeback. Great to have Travis back at the helm
  5. Andrew Harris sure enjoys playing against the Lions. Just one of many great players that Wally let slip through his fingers. Who needs a Canadian running back anyway?
  6. It’s time for the end of Wally ball. A major shakeup is needed as the team is sucking mightily. I’ve often wondered how the Lions can ignore the importance of building a strong offensive line. Then they let guys like Mike Reilly walk because he couldn’t function at a high level behind a crappy o-line. Jennings on the other hand, it probably wouldn’t matter if he had decent protection. He just seems to be too inconsistent.
  7. Adam Schein calls them the LeBronto Raptors. Another disappointing end for an over hyped team.
  8. This is so terribly sad. It is truly devastating to the families, friends and neighbors of these unfortunate souls. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by this tragedy.
  9. CFL officiating is so Mickey Mouse. Suits is squirming in the booth about it
  10. I wonder if O'Sullivan had the class to send a congratulatory tweet to Burrows.
  11. Couldn't have said it better myself. I've been enjoying this thread for a long time Farewell slayer of dragons. Best of luck in your future.
  12. Raider fan here since the days of Kenny Stabler and Cliff Branch. Congrats to the Pats on a job well done. Props to Atlanta for a great effort. It was a terrific game to watch. The only losers here are the pathetic whiners and snivlers. My other teams are Detroit Tigers in MLB and The Orlando Magic in the NBA and of course our beloved Canucks Who the hell has the right to tell me to cheer for?
  13. So stoked about my Raiders winning a big game against the Broncos. The O line was killer tonight. Really looking forward to the rematch in Denver. Could be for 1st place in the west. Been such a long time of suffering crap teams. Reggie'a doing a nice job of putting this team together
  14. I really got a kick out of the Hungarian Goalkeeper. Looked like a fat old fan in track pants ran on the field and played instead of their regular goalie. The guy has probably had a great career, but he really does look like he's well past his best before date. I don't know what was funnier. CR7s tantrums or the tubby goalie's fake punt near the end of the game. CR7 behavior towards his teammates would definitely not go over big in hockey. Props to him for the two goals and the nice assist. I guess you have to take the good with the bad.
  15. Wow, awesome game by the Croats. Hard to cheer against a team that works that freakishly hard. I can't believe the brutal penalty call. Good thing the wrong guy took the kick. Croatia fan section looked like a huge breakfast table. That funky Spanish kit looking quite a bit like my kids shirt after too much hot dog mustard and ketchup spillage. Go Croatia.
  16. Whaaaaa? Dunga is a dinosaur!! He wants to pack the back end and win 0-0. Big problem with Brazil is that the coaches are sooo overrated. The last half decent won was Scolari and the game has now passed him by. Otherwise who are the going to trot out to coach the Brazilian drama queens - Vanderlei Luxemburgo?
  17. Portugal always manages to underachieve. My wife and I cheer for them because we got married over there. As part of our honeymoon we saw a game at the Estadio da Luz. It was a derby between Benfica and Sporting. She cheered for Benefica and I cheered for Sporting - good fun. Meanwhile, 8% of the entire population of Iceland was at today's game. A gutty effort by the Icelanders, but I have to say that their goalie looked like he was completely losing it in the last few minutes there. 90 minutes of constant pressure will do that to a guy. Who said there weren't Cinderella stories at Euro?
  18. Bit of an overreaction or what? I just expressed a personal preference. I really enjoy the WC as well No need to get on your high horse.
  19. I prefer the Euro tournament to the WC and for once I have a dog in the race (Ireland). I'm not that hopeful. I'm guessing that the Germans and Spain will make the finals and Italy and France will be in the hunt. England will once again fail the get it together. Their fans will make total arseholes of themselves. This is one area where they excel.
  20. Not to worry mate Johnny Football, er I mean Johnny Bench is on Jerry's radar.
  21. I heard that Denver might be looking at Tim Tebow. So yeah, the qb ranks are pretty thin.
  22. Raider fan here. So far I'm real happy with the free agent pickups. Shoring up the D with Bruce Irvin and Sean Smith, and grabbing Osemele for the O line. Solid under the radar moves. Raiders are rising up from the ashes. Soon we're going to be real good.
