  1. Well, I have been thinking this for awhile wonder how to work this. IMO, veteran players that sign long term contracts should have the team be able to buyout at full pop, 1/4 of the years, with no penalty, but at full cost to the team. So, basically a 8 year deal could have 2 years bought out free, at the teams discretion. The caveat is that the last 2 years should be as minimum the average of the contract. It should includes all moneys.....regular pay and bonus's. For example....OEL's last 2 years could be bought out at his cost in full (no putting it over those 2 years) So, the total 14 million up front, right away. And released out right. This is not going to change a signing in regards to length, but will allow for a more competitive league, with no Tampa Bay injury sick bay............I mean, there are ways around todays over spending.....so why not give them a way out that is legal? I think it benefits the Canucks, amongst others
  2. I think this whole issue is really about the mis-understanding of our charter of Canadian rights and freedoms.......... They are not rights and freedoms! They never were. They are privileges , which if not followed to the letter of the law, can be taken away from you. Well, who makes these Laws? Well society does in general. It is the masses who write the laws, by way of our elections and our Judicial system This is IMO, where it has eroded, and where we need a re-boot! Not to change them, but get back on the straight in narrow, sort of speak. We the people have to get our politicians back in line doing our work.......... not the fringe right, or the fringe left, but the middle, who ever they/we are It really comes down to rights and wrongs......... - You can not have a fringe element (Freedom fighters) blocking streets - You can not have homeless shooting up in our parks - You can not have Companies not putting in safety/environmental or financial safe guards in place when operating in Canada - You can not pick on/alienate/bully anyone regardless of color, age, sexual preference, or beliefs It is not to say, we do not listen, it is not to say, we do not help, but it is to say there are rules, which everyone has to abide by. We do not need to be Liberal or conservative, we need to be just: conforming to the standard of correctness It should apply to every and all Canadians regardless if they are the Prime Minister or they are the homeless I know it sounds like a speech, but we need a correction, before it is too late! We need to stop dividing ourselves.....one people indivisible by God(s), and etched in law!
  3. Yes love thy neighbour............whether he/she is beside me, across the street, across the country or across the world. I am not a turn the other cheek kinda guy.......so no throwing rocks.......plz
  4. I am so tired of all this............. First off, our Canadian rights and freedoms are not Rights and Freedoms, but rather Privileges, that can be taken away if abused Secondly....we have forgotten common decency, where you treat "All" people equally............not white, not yellow, and not green................all Human beings! Thirdly........we do not punish according to the act, but rather the circumstance, it does not mater if you were born rich or poor, or white, or dark skinned, it simply should not matter Fourthly......there is only 1 race.........and only 2 sexes, and you can think what you want, but you can only act as society wants or face the consequences. 5thly...........Societies rules are meant to be followed, and if you are an absolute minority, meaning there is not a major group of people wanting the same thing, then follow don't lead. IMO, it all comes back to "Love thy neighbor" and what has happened is that has been distorted, to mean "Love those that agree with you" All our troubles have occured because Race, Nationship, or religion There is only 1 race There is only 1 earth and everyone is related to each other............all blood is red.............which is proven, decade, and eon, and millenia, over and over............... Silly Humans!
  5. Interesting take......love it.....don't agree..........but hey...........as good as anyone elses!
  6. I like this trade, but IMO, PLD's contract stance diminished his value. Not only that, but Miller is the much better player, albeit older. IMO, I see more coming back.
  7. You know Joe.....I am so mixed up on the 9 to 14 picks..........I am having a problem pinning them down.......and that is only if the top 8 go as planned Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov, Smith, Benson, Leonard, Dvorsky...........sorta the top 8 But if Reinbacher, ASP, Simachev, Wood, Danilleson, Moore, and Willander, etc get in there, all bets are off the table
  8. What second rounders? We never seem to have 2nd rounders.........not many, anyways
  9. @R3aL @Gawdzukes Well a little whiskey and some more reading and I have now got my top 8 1. Bedard 2. Fantilli 3. Carlsson 4. Michkov 5. Smith 6. Benson......Here is why he gets my #6 spot...........simply put, he is the best skater, and just about every quote reminds me of Quinn Hughes. How can you not like that! 7. Leonard.....Benson beats Leonard, and Leonard beat Dvorsky 8. Dvorsky......Ta Da! By way of elimination, Dvorsky get #8 and it is not because he is not good, because he is........I just think the other 2 beat him out Now for 9 and 10 Reinbacher, ASP, Wood, Barlow and Moore...... Who of these players gets 9 and 10? I think my order is Moore, Barlow, Reinbacher, Wood, and then ASP...................but I am not there yet Thoughts on these 5?
  10. Ok Guys, I am having a hard time firming up my top 10 The top 5 is no problem...........but 6 through 10...........??????????? 1. Bedard 2. Fantilli 3. Carlsson 4. Michkov 5. Smith But then Barlow, Benson, Dvorsky, Reinbacher, ASP.................all confuse me Especially Benson Then Danielson and Wood......I am getting just out side of top 10 vibs Thoughts? Where does Benson fit into this?
  11. I like Schenn also, but Mayfield is way, better.
  12. Yes, for sure Alf. IMO, he needs a specific job. I think he could pull this off.
  13. OK People.I checked this with Capfriendly............It fits under the cap ($82,500,000) Trade #1..........Beauvillier..........for...................2023-2nd Trade #2..........Future considerations (Myers Sept. 15th) .................for...................2023 -2nd Signing #1........Mayfield (RHD) 5 years @ $4,000,000 Signing #2........Graves (LHD) 5 years @ $5,000,000 Signing #3........ Bear RHD 3 years @ $3,000,000 Signing #4.........Hoglander 3 years @ $1 250,000 Kuzmenko Pettersson Boeser Mikheyev Miller Hogglander Joshua Podkolzin Garland Di Giuseppe Aman Strudnicka Hughes Mayfield Graves Hronek OEL Bear Burroughs Demko Silvos Still need a couple of fillers................but we are in the range, and a much deeper team.
  14. Yes, and I am considering some more moves
  15. Yeah..............I have 3, 8 and 27 in the first round..................I am hoping Micjkov falls to 8......................Carlsson, Michkov would be unbelievable!
  16. Well, I kind of agree with you about the risk, as with them all! But when are we going to draft a RHD? Do we pray one of our 3rds, does the trick? I mean, we do not have any friggin 2nds, which just puts us further along before picking a RHD. I think, that it is very easy to pick an elite RHD, or an offensive forward...........not so easy on the rest
  17. Hey, I am not saying HonH is wrong.....or you for that matter, what I am saying is that he is in that area of the draft. Give or take. And as HonH said, the top 15 are really good. As for my pick. It totally depends on who is on the table............. IMHO, we have time to develop a 2nd line center............we can not continually ignore the absence of top RHD in our organization. In and around 11.........I would go Reinbacher, ASP, Dvorsky, and Danielson in that order............then pray for 2 to 3 years!
  18. I think you have to keep in mind that this is a strong draft and ASP is still talked about in the top 15 even by you. I am not saying take him. But Buttons, Mckenzie, etc all have him ranked in and around the 11th pick. Personal preference aside, and noting what you had said earlier, about him being solid defensively and a 40 - 50 point player. IMO, it all depends on who has been picked before Number 11. If he is there, I am not sure how you can not consider him.
  19. Again on ASP The top 32 NHL RHD by points ends at 29 points The top 32 NHL RHD by +/- ends at +9 So if he ended up with a 30 point season and +9, he would be a top 32 RHD, either a #1 or #2 Dman by stats.
  20. Here is Draft Pro's write up on ASP Fluid, smooth skating defenseman. Creates time and space for himself with patience, poise, and skill with the puck. Angles and drives players wide on the rush, stays with them positionally using speed and skating ability. Makes passes look easy at times by moving the puck up ice with control and precision. Visually keeps his head up, scans the ice to move the puck to the right places and smart in his decision making. Soft, controlled hands stickhandling with the puck. Protects the house admirably with stick control, skating, and smarts. Keen awareness of players in front of his net. High-quality shot for his size, quick and accurate. Needs to increase strength. Phenomenal on his edges. Excels in his transition game, will get involved in the rush and make things happen offensively. Will play physical despite his size. Can get caught chasing the puck a bit in the defensive zone. Shifty head fakes fool opponents and allows him to get shots to the net or find an open target for scoring opportunities from the blue line. Velocity on his slap shot can improve, but wrist shot is timely and effective from the point, getting it through traffic and looking for tips. Top speed is not a wow factor, but his movement is slick and quick in all areas of the ice and has fantastic lateral quickness cradling the blue line. Has been known to be a high-quality leader and character player in the locker room. Tremendous two-way defensive talent with lots of potential. - JH Their Comparison Player: Charlie McAvoy
  21. Draft Pro has the first 11 looking like this........... 1. Bedard 2. Fantelli 3. Michkov 4. Carlsson 5. Smith 6. Benson 7. Leonard 8. Barlow 9. Moore 10. ASP 11. Dvorsky 16. Reinbacher Just another opinion..........
  22. I am a little confused by your position on ASP ( Not to say we should draft him) But I would say a 40 to 50 point defenseman, who is solid in his own end, is an above average defenseman. I would go further and say that is a #2/3 Dman. I totally agree there might me better choices, but all those choices in and around #11, are not Bedard, or Michkov, and are not thought to be elite. I would go as far as to say that after 7 or 8, there are no elite players, but only good above average players in the next 5 or 6. I am just not sure, your words and expectations are fair, in regards to those player comparisons in and around #11 More a observation on the realities of how hard it is to find a 40 - 50 point RHD man who is solid in his own end.
  23. "IF" we are going to keep our 11th, which IMHO we should , we need to find that larger, pain in the arse, driver. (In the Tkachuk, Bennett vain) Some one who drives play and fights for pucks hard. Yes, we need a RHD, and yes we need a 2nd line center..........(8 years from now!) So, if it is a forward, I want that guy! This is the draft where, because of the depth of the draft, you may be able to get a guy like that. (Leonard, Barlow, Wood, Honzek......kinda in that order?. Not sure ) It is when we get into the RHD discussion that I am torn..........ASP over Reinbacher? I just don't know?
  24. Oh, My! If that sounded in any way that I was blaming Deb, that was not my intention. I am merely point out the omission. @-DLC- Deb, I hope that my comments did not point out at you. Again, merely bringing some additional points to the conversation. A 200 lb man vs 100 lb woman or a 60 lb child, is just grossly wrong, but in fact, whether it is a man or a woman, is just grossly wrong. Which IMO, happens far more than is reported on. To me, society, in general has a ways to go, in all area's. But let us not leave anyone behind! Love you Deb and all you bring to these forum's. Never stop! Sincerely JIAHN
