I would actually say Lockwood is (one of) the driver's of the UM offense. He's much much speed and skill oriented than people on here give him credit for, and having watched both Motte and Lockwood at UM, they're not really that much alike. Motte was what you described as a "complementary player," even in college. His point production is a product of having NHL guys like Larkin, Connor, Hyman, Copp, Werenski, Compher etc... to play with. That's at least 6 NHL'ers, where as this year's UM team has, in my opinion, two guys in York and Beecher (maybe not even Beecher). Basically what I'm saying is that I'm pretty sure Lockwood possesses more skill than both Motte and Roussel did in their junior/collegiate careers (not that I've seen Roussel play in junior). Whereas the latter two have styles that might stereotypically label them as fourth liners, Lockwood has a modern third liner skillset: fast and skilled enough to drive a college/junior offense, while also playing hard enough to be a bottom 6 guy.

I guess the key to winning is to get outshot by your opponent.

I met Quinn in 2017 briefly as we were both freshmen at U of M. Said hi to him briefly and he nodded back shyly. That was the extent of the interaction LOL. Why is the "solution" to the powerplay always "shoot?" Shooting in contested lanes on the powerplay is recipe for a defensive zone clearance from the PK, and we saw it several times. The second unit can get away with it because it seems like they're good puck retrievers, but the couple of times we shot into traffic on the PP, we just ended up wasting valuable time. The answer to PP woes is almost always more movement, with the puck and with skating as you presumably implied with your first sentence, not "shoot more."

There's a whole generation of people from all over the world that have been positively impacted by Kobe, both on and off the court. It's completely ignorant of you to say all of that should be ignored. You're discounting the lives of many by saying it's a travesty. Look, I'm sure there are Kobe fans that will mindlessly forgive Kobe even in the case that Kobe murdered someone, but this isn't even close to the "forgiven because of wealth and fame" case that you claim it to be. People have very good reason to idolize him even past his accusations. There is a reason why a vast majority of self respecting girls and women who play basketball respect and idolize Kobe as an athlete and human. Do you think they're looking past his accusations as well? No, it's because he's done 99% more for female empowerment than all of us. I think you're holding on to the idea that all of us defending Kobe are biased in the lenses of great athletic accomplishment, when in reality, you're the one who is biased from all the hatred you feel towards someone who has been an unbelievable player and human being, while hoping that everything bad you hear about him is true to advance your narrative.

I don't think you know enough about Kobe if you think that he wasn't a good person. You're letting an untestified, unconfirmed incident shade your perception of someone who has given back and contributed to society not only as an athlete, but even moreso as a person more than almost anyone in the sports world has ever.

Having watched him extensively, Quinn was faster at Michigan I'm pretty sure. There was a reason he was touted as one of the, if not the fastest skater in the draft. I don't think every scout just gaffed on the eye test of how fast he is lol. He's added some weight and it's slowed him down pretty evidently. It's made him a better player though I would say.

Yes... those were his late 20s years though, and we were all uncertain until late last season if he was even a good goalie. So the fact that you're saying it's now or never for a 24 year old Demko is kind of counterintuitive. I think we'd be fine going forward with either goalie, but Demko definitely needs a year of at least 30-40 games.

There will likely be other injuries when they return, so it's not the most pressing issue. I'd sit Beagle personally as having Sutter is kind of redundant. And of course Schaller as well.

I think coaching is generally overrated in hockey. It's much more of a player's game compared to basketball and especially football. So that, combined with my belief that Green is doing a fine job, makes me disagree with your opinion.

Two assists for Lockwood tonight. In the coming months it'll be interesting to see if he plays with the Canucks at all this season, or just in Utica. I'm biased but I wouldn't sleep on Lockwood yet. His 2/3 PPG point production has been partially a product of an offensively inept team (he leads the team in points). He also has a laughably and unsustainably low shooting percentage so luck hasn't been on his side either. He still plays hard and is the most noticeable Michigan forward, though it would be nice if he started producing more on the stat sheet. UM's offensive ineptitude (until our recent 4 game winning streak) also shows how much of an impact Quinn had offensively last year.

Hopefully Vegas loses in a few days so that we can go into the All Star break at first

Goal differential has never mattered in the standings I'm pretty sure, ever, so I don't think it's an issue. Goal differential is a pretty good judgment for the superiority between two teams close in the standings, but it's nice that it's almost never applied in the tiebreaker, as sports should be always about Ws and Ls.

Well Murph does mention that penalty I believe. I think he just doesn't want to seem adamant that it's what started everything, especially given that Sestito said that he "took one of their guys out."

I don't know if many remember, but he had hands too. And he showed them off a couple of times.
