  1. Still a bit more than what I posted... but not as much as when it peaked.
  2. Lots of SPAC and precious metals. I started at like 0% to retirement... so still good overall... but still sucks losing on unrealized gains.
  3. Cashed out almost all my positions.... took major beatings.... from reaching almost 40% to my retirement.... so now back to just 12% there. SPAC bubble bursting, GME throwing a wrench into the market, bitcoin/crypto providing some unknown factors, plus the usual Feds/interest rates/seasonality/etc. At times like think I wish I could just drink my troubles away....
  4. Probably the whole GME thing sucking energy away from the SPAC field again. I guess I will just be liquidating my positions in the mean time and maybe re-enter once it reaches low (at least lower than the lows now).
  5. Toffoli and maybe Leivo if the price was right. Tanev was a declining but he still deserved to be paid... thus wasn't part of the Canucks plan going forward. Markstrom may be playing very well, but he's not going to get any better. He's already 30+ so it's most likely downward from there. Overall, he's still unproven in the post-season..... where Holtby (who has accomplished way more) is paid less, with lesser term and is also the same age. Stetcher would have been nice, but he would have required a pay increase for him to be qualified.
  6. Forget lube... I need rectal surgery from this is week I'm having. Still got massive gains these last few months, but losing a Lambo amount in unrealized gains still hurts
  7. Since it's politics, of course it's politicking. But in this case, there's nothing wrong with calling a genocide a genocide. As for the two Michaels, it really sucks, but Canada has to stand by its principles. The MP's not voting just show how much of a hypocrite they are. All the virtue signaling, all the soapbox theatrics about humans rights, equality or whatever... when it comes to a symbolic gesture, they balk at it. Sure, it's just the Conservatives trying to get the headlines to win brownie points... but why didn't the Liberals go out and put this to a vote first? It's as clear as day that China doesn't play well internationally. They're a bully, plain and simple. While we've all been taught that bullies are just misunderstood.... in this case China is the bully that knows exactly what it's doing and is working their angle to get what they want. For those types of bullies, you don't appease them, you stand up to them.
  8. Today is a good example on why behavioural finance and market psychology are very important stuff to learn about.
  9. My guess.... it was CCIV. Probably lots of folks jumped into it in the last few days, got caught with margin calls, and thus mass selling of everything else to cover. Most of my portfolio is down today, even stuff unrelated to each other. Gold miners, Amazon, SPAC's, Apple....
  10. I think some people focuses too much on just the 1PP unit. I remember the Canucks used to have 2 very good PP unit prior to 2011. IIRC, Sedins with Samuelsson, Edler and Ehrhoff. #2 with Kesler, Raymond, Salo, Demitra, Bernier or something. A strong second unit means the first unit needs to hurry the heck up. Instead of thinking they have 90 seconds to work with, they have 1 minute and they better score or the next unit is up and they will try to get the results. If I was in charge of the Canucks PP right now... I'd take Horvat off and slide him to the second unit. Then have Edler as the other defenseman on the blueline.
  11. https://www.ourcommons.ca/members/en/votes/43/2/56?view=result Most of the Conservatives, Greens, Bloc, Independents and NDP (minus at least one CCP shill I mentioned above) voted yes. A large amount of Liberals didn't vote.
  12. Yes, that is totally true. Expensive stuff should only accent your overall look. Like a Burberry purse and matching belt to go add texture and colour to a more bland look or something. What I see lots of Mainlanders do.... a Moschino dress, then a Burberry cap, a Hermes scarf, a LV purse and a pair of Gucci boots.... all at the same time. Sometimes I wish the fashion police is a real thing. I love Japanese fashion, especially "gyaru"... but there's a big difference between flashy and trashy. Lots of rich Mainlanders seem to dress more to the latter.
  13. Just remember, even though it's 266-0, it really means only 266 out of 338. That means 72 MP didn't even bother to vote or just didn't want to upset their Sino-overloards constituents. I know my local MP abstained from the vote. He has been to China often, been apart of those semi-formal diplomatic meetings with the Chinese government, etc. Active on twitter to preach about human rights, protests in Chile, etc... but distinctively nothing was mentioned about the HK protest back in 2019. Something to think about next election. Does your disagreement with an opposing party trumps your candidate being a CCP shill? How much influence does the CCP (or RMB money) has on your candidate.
  14. Pretty much this. China's GDP is still rising due to massive government spending (never sustainable) and from fudged numbers on the local level. There are tons and tons of zombie companies where they're more or less surviving due to government money... once the money runs out... watch out. Jobs are only in China because it's cheaper. Their technology is still behind their competitors and still not the most efficient. But if it's cheaper, jobs will still be there. Once wages increase or competing countries set their own incentives, jobs will start trickling out... as it has been happening. Once China cross the rubicon where their house will start collapsing... watch out Taiwan. They'll probably start an armed conflict to deflect from domestic troubles.
  15. Hopefully this is more than just words. I want to see action. If anything, Canada should just welcome anyone with a HK passport to immigrate here. You want to really hurt China, think how much it would hurt of suddenly half a million resident from HK with all their assets just up and re-settled here. With more capital mean more investment in local industries. More highly educated workforce means better productivities and a higher skilled workforce to compete globally. I hate to sound racist.... but I definitely prefer HKer than mainlanders. Even most of my family from China originally feels the same.
  16. So many good advices on here. I was -30% for my portfolio before really watching stuff that people posted on here. Now I'm +250%. I really wish Covid would be over.... would totally buy a round of drinks for many of the fine people here.
  17. I don't mind the Canucks taking a flyer on him. Sometimes siblings can have some synergy with each other that they wouldn't have with anyone else. Maybe Emil will only be a 3rd line if he plays in the NHL... but perhaps with Elias there's some intangible boost that makes him a 2nd liner.
  18. It has always been a fear of mine to be "raided". Hence I never put any stop-losses. It was terrible for that short period of time where I literally lost Ferrari money... but the bright side that it bounced back up. Plus I've already sold enough to cover my initial investment, thus it's risk-free (although it would still suck to lose all that gains).
  19. I always wonder who actually believes there is a wage gap. I mean... it's been illegal for decades and I doubt any company would wish to be sued up the wazoo because of it. The problem is that many look at the numbers and come up with conclusions that fit their own narratives. Black earning less than "Whites" on average? Must be racism. Asians and Jews earning more than "Whites".... "well, let us remind each other of the struggle for all classes of people, that we need to come together for more goodness, equality, equity..." basically nothing. When you factor in type of profession, hours worked (especially OT), levels of education, geographical locations, etc... there pretty much is no wage gap. Jews and Asians statistically have higher level of education... and there's strong correlation between higher education and higher wages, especially if in the STEM fields.... which most Jews and Asians tends to go into. I'm Asian and almost all my friends/family who are also Asian are engineers, accountants, working in legal, medical professionals, CompSci, or teachers. This is assuming they're not business owners too. Only my white friends majored in Arts or something non-STEM. Then where do most Asians and Jews live? Mostly big cities.... I mean there aren't lots of Chinese folks up in Nova Scotia compared to say Toronto or Vancouver. Not a lot of Jewish folks in Manitoba too I'm willing to bet than say... Toronto or Montreal. Using the US... I'm probably going to guess that you can go on for days driving around Alabama and Louisiana and not find many Asians out and about. But you will see lots of whites and black.... and those two states are some of the poorest. When you think of Asian-Americans, what do you picture? The software engineer on the Westcoast and maybe the financial folks in NYC. Places incidentally with higher salary and higher threshold requirement regarding education. Then it goes back to why is the average Asian and Jews more educated than Whites, Blacks or Latinos? Or that being Jewish or Asian makes you're less likely to have a violent confrontation with the police than even whites? Is it racism? That there's some Asian-Zionist conspiracy to oppress the whites/black/latinos/aboriginals? Sure... if you want to hear something satirically comedic. Is it some type of genetic superiority? Not unless you really believe in eugenics (another topic for another day). So it comes down to cultural values. Some cultural norms from certain demographics is not conducive to being competitive in the marketplace.
  20. I guess from now on I should just put in some low-ball bid to buy more and maybe I'll get lucky.
  21. Wow.... flash crash of CCIV... especially the warrants. I was panicking when I saw it drop from $40 to $10 for a brief moment....
  22. I'm just thinking.... a regular heater already uses like 750-1500w. A mining rig with like 4 GPU uses about 1200w. Maybe a cost effective way to heat a home maybe? Make money while heating your place, lol.
  23. As someone who goes to and will probably be moving to Japan... it's so weird that there are so many restrictions regarding alcohol sale and consumption in Canada (and the US too). I know there are way too many folks in Canada that really don't know how to drink or handle their alcohol consumption, but limiting access doesn't solve that. People need more access to booze. Instead of treating it like some magic elixir, let people realize that it's nothing really special. While you have to be responsible when drinking it, that it's as special as buying a can of pop.
  24. If only he had Virtanen's size... or Virtanen has Hoglander's dedication...
