canucks.brad
I couldn't imagine it hitting the east coast of the Island with too much force if it does make it down the strait. waves might hit east coast due to wave propagation. talked about it in my emergency management class

Justin.
Oregon and California are under WARNING. Tsunami WATCH on BC coast: North Coast+Haida Gwaii; Bella Bella, Bella Coola +Shearwater; west Van Island from Cape Scott to Port Renfrew. If you're on the west coast of Vancouver Island, do not panic, but be prepared to move away from low-lying areas if warnings are upgraded. -Vancouver Sun Stay safe Yankee and Island friends. Truculence
so are we in danger as well? by we i mean coastal lower mainland No. It's too far away. Hawaii has a low-level warning in effect, but BC/Washington are barely even under an advisory. The west coast of the island may see 2-3 ft waves, but that's about it. Things are very bad in coastal Japan though. Those videos at CNN and BBC are heart-breaking. You hope for the best, but the reality is that a lot of people are dying right now. Seeing people driving on roads trying to outrun the water and debris makes me feel kind of sick to my stomach. Quit posting confirmed deaths please. It's ghoulish and unnecessary.
Common sense
I was watching BBC and a tsunami wave just hit Sendai Airport. Wiped out a plane on the tarmac and the connectors between the terminal and the plane at the docks.
