Luongo Article In Province, My Opinion

Recommended Posts

So Jason Botchford published an article in the province today, pretty much saying get rid of luo.

I dont disagree. I just have a few (some far fetched) possibilties of deals.

Luongo for Lecavileir.

Very possible, his familys in tampa, and they have similar contracts.

Luongo for Nash

Somewhat plausable. Especially with Nash wanting out of Ohio.

Luongo, Raymond, Tanev for Ovechkin

okay, i can dream. Only reason its slightly possible is the goaltending in washington, and Ovi not producing as much as he usually does in Washington.

Luongo for Getzlaf

its hard to know what ryan getzlafs age is, he looks 56 without his gear on. The only thing stopping this is Hiller

Luongo for Lupul (or) Kessel

I dont want this. Im from Vancouver i hate anything coming out of Toronto.

The halfwits at the Province published an idiotic proposal back in October suggesting Luongo be sent to Tampa Bay in exchange for Lecavalier and his 12 year, 84 million contract - at a ridiculous $7.7 million cap hit until 2020.

And they think AV and MG should be listening when they complain and whine about the way the Canucks are coached and managed.

These geniuses thought we need a grossly overpaid center more than a stellar goaltending tandem. And for $7.7 million, where would Lecavalier have fit in (?)..... behind Hank, Kesler (and obviously Cody the wonder boy, who was still here at the time, and who the Province spent endless hot air complaining about his lack of ice-time). 3rd line center, fourth line center? Just plain dumb.

These guys have the credibility of the National Enquirer.

Not surprising they would resurrect this while the Canucks are in a playoff series.

I consider publishing this kind of stuff right now to be sabotage/trolling. That SH!T can wait for the offseason. Professional standard journalism would not go there right now. That is bottomfeeding, plain and simple.

The Canucks are trying to come back from a 3-0 series deficit (3-1 now), and you're focusing on who's getting traded in the off season. These articles are 100% of a speculative nature and their only purpose is to draw attention to themselves (look, it's working!), and to be honest, thinking of what's going to happen in the Summer right now just proves what kind of a fan you really are.

Anywhere Luongo is traded to, the return will be low in cap hit.

They have to absorb less contract than he currently has so they can sign Schneider. If they take back the same cap hit then there's no point to trading Lou.

Anything either goalie is traded for will be prospects and picks or a lower 7 figure contract or someone they can burry in the minors.

Guest BuckFoston

Can someone please explain the appeal of armchair gming... You throw out completely ridiculous far fetched ideas that will never come to fruition, therefore no payoff or satisfaction. Nor do you have any sway whatsoever on what will really happen.

Luongo for Ovi would be amazing, but a pipe dream at the same time. Multiple contracts going the other to make it fit under the cap. What about something like this:

Washington receives: Roberto Luongo + rights to Mason Raymond + Keith Ballard + Manny Malhotra + Kevin Connauton + Kevin Bieksa 2012 2nd

Vancouver receives: Alex Ovechkin + 2012 2nd rounder

To fill the void of Bieksa sign three of Kubina,

Wideman, Suter or Stuart

Daniel ($6.1) - Henrik ($6.1) Ovechkin ($9,538,431)

Booth ($4.2) Kesler ($5) Burrows ($2)

Higgins ($1.9) - Schroeder ($1) - Jensen (.900)

Kassian (.700) Lapierre ($1) - Hansen ($1.3)

$39,863,431 on forwards

Hamhuis ($4.5) Suter ($5)

Edler ($3.25) - Tanev ($.900)

Wideman ($3) - Kubina ($2.4)

$19,050,000 on defense

Schneider ($3.5)

Lack ($.900)

$4,400,000 on goalies

Cap = $63,313.431
