Jaimito
based on the precendent set, retired jersey. best nux goalie ever, gm 7 cup final. linden or smyl didnt win it, nazzy was a playoff flop. retired nux jersey for sure if lui wins the cup with another team. bigbadbob
How can ANYONE suggest anything lower than Ring of Honour? Roberto Luongo, like KIRK MCLEAN got us to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final! If you go by the statistics, he's the best goaltender in Vancouver Canuck history. He's unselfishly waiving his NTC, what more does the man have to do to be appreciated? This city IS a goalie graveyard.

MANGO
IF he is traded...... - ROH definately, but not till he is well retired. - retired number.......no way If he is not traded...... - ROH definately - retired number.....potentially in summary, .....what is the critera. With most teams it is Cups. Canucks have no cups, so our standards are different. Our critera is more like service, devotion and community involvement. Im hoping whatever happens by that time we have our own play-off heros with championships to cheer for.
nuck nit
Gillis should honor him by taking him out to dinner, handing him a package with a half million bucks in it and offer his apologies. Then the nonor is extended by trading Schneids and begging Luo to come back in as number 1. Bring Eddie up,let him learn from Luo and see how he does if he is as ready as Gillis is implying. CrippledCanuck
yeah i don't think luongo number gets ring of honor or retired number, and only after a 6 season run with us = the canucks. and also especially after it has been rumored he has asked for a trade, and on his wish list of teams is CHICAGO, canucks biggest rival. CoreyPerry
That is exactly what it is a rumor, until it is confirmed which I dont believe it has been. I believe he deserves the benefit of the doubt. People just need to chill out. He gave us six good years of playing his heart out while not being appreciated(as seen on cdc) for what he did ie MOST WINS EVER for a canuck goalie in less games, 2 presidents trophies, vezina nominations etc etc. He was asked by media who were fishing for a story that they could run with, if he would waive the clause he answered yes for the good of the team. Edler's Broken Stickz
Wouldn't be surprised if number 1 gets retired someday for luongo. Some of you really need to think hard about this. Luongo might have only played here for 6 years (hope longer) but in those 6 years he set records and singlehandedly saved this franchise. If it weren't for Luo we might have turned out like how the flames and oilers are right now. This team was on a rapid decline before we acquired Luo. If Luo never came here this team would look way different and I don't think all this success would have ever happened.

Canucksbiggestfan
#1, Kirk McLean never asked for a trade out of Vancouver. #2. Any Canuck player who asks for a trade should not enter the Ring of Honour EVER! (that includes Pavel Bure and Luongo).

John Garret's moustache
Luongo just doesn't deserve these things I don't think. Sure, he's set records for our team, but Vancouver's history is not necessarily such with all-star goaltending, and on top of that he's had the best team in our clubs history in front of him, and in the NHL for the past 2 years... John Garret's moustache
Best franchise goaltender, so Ring of Honour, and Retired Number? Yes, if Luongo does not play better in his next team. I personally want his number retired as a Canuck, and have him placed in the Ring of Honour, or after he retires, possibly in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
