Luongo's Trade Value Is Much Higher Than You May Think

Recommended Posts

this does make things REALLY interesting! there are no clear number 1 goalies available now... I also don't see LA trading Bernier this offseason and Calgary seems to not want to rebuild so that'll take Kipper off.

I watched almost every single game this year.

Roberto Luongo is THE reason why we won the Presidents Trophy.

He stole many games in which we won by only one goal between january and march.

he's one of the best goalies in the league and his cap hit/contract is not that bad.

Whether we keep him or Schneids Vancouver is in good shape in the crease.

The least of our worries. Either guy should get us a good return.

Lol, this ain't gonna happen. Schneider won't even fetch that much. We're talking about the next Adam Foote + a high pick that will likely turn out to be a star in the NHL. Those are prime assets and Luongo alone will surely NOT bring such assets back to Vancouver.

Schenn alone is a possibility, though, and I would be happy with that return. Since entering the NHL, Schenn has perennially been among the top 20 players in hits. He's also right handed. He's the perfect example of a core piece the team could use and would look good on a pairing with Edler.

Edler - Schenn

Hamhuis - Bieksa

Ballard - Tanev

I have not been on CDC for a few years.

now that I am back I really cant believe how delusional everyone is.

I left because I couldn't handle it and now it's like wow, oh yea.

Luongo is.. even by his peers

the most overrated goaltender in the NHL,

His technical ability, style, puck handling, speed, rebound control, breakaway decision making are very average. (he could not EVER be a goalie coach for example)

Statistically he is the lower half of all starting goalies in playoffs and regular season.

these are numbers, not opinions people.

People treat him like he is Hasek or Roy in prime, in reality he is not. he is a very average starter.

I hate how people throw around the word "Elite".

Elite to me... is future HHOF, or Vezina, Hart, ect.

if Luongo retired today do you think he would be in the hall? How many Vezina wins? Hart?

The fact that his worth is debatable should be enough for you Luongo Lovers to step back and really look into his past, or his black and white statistics.

I really hope someone overpays Gillis for Luongo, I hope im wrong

Just dont want all you passionate people to get your dreams shattered when the day comes.

I think that's the media talking. I know for a fact that many leafs fans are willing to wait a little longer if it means they don't have to trade the farm. A quick fix with Luongo will not lead to long term success.

Luo career

Reg Season 919% 2.52GAA

Post Season 916% 2.53GAA

Minus the Anahiem/ Dallas year (The last 4 years)

he is .903% 2.97 GAA in the playoffs

So on average we need 4 goals to win a playoff game with Luongo in net the past 4 seasons.

Ya.. he is sooo Elite.
