Mastaj
The logic is as follows. If you have a crazed shooter come into a public space with an AK-47, your best defense is if an innocent bystander there also has an AK-47, so he can start shooting at the shooter. Ideally, several people will have AK-47s, so they can all simultaneously start shooting at the original shooter (who will of course be very obvious to them), increasing their chances of hitting the shooter before he kills to many people (innocent bystanders killed in the process can take comfort in being hailed as heroes by Fox News). By the time the police arrive, the ideal situation for public safety is if every single person has their AK-47 out and is shooting vigorously. Naturally, the police will immediately be able to recognize the original shooter and put the finishing touches. Problem solved. USA! USA! USA! Jägermeister
Yep, that freedom to bare arms is looking like a really good idea right about now...
Dazzle
New Jersey gun laws are probably overall more restrictive than Canada's, and the penalties for breaking the law there are also much more severe than in Canada, so I don't see how it's a gun control issue. Anyway, just wait until the economic system really collapses and takes society down with it, you ain't seen nothing yet...
JeremyW
Have any of you guys gone to an American forum and attempted to argue your reasoning for stronger gun regulation? I've tried, and it is literally impossible to convince them.

NightHawkSniper
"Right to bear arms", when's the last time Britain threatened the States? I would imagine we are well past that stage by now...

Electro Rock
Nope. Assault weapons are allowed in NJ as long as there is a valid license. Who wants to bet that this rifle is actually legally purchased?
Sharpshooter
"Assault weapons" in New Jersey are restricted by rarely issued special license, while anyone with a firearms licence can buy one in Canada. I'm not sure how it works in New Jersey but I would guess that its similar to New York state where you basically have to be on good terms with a politician or some ranking member of the police force in order to get any kind of special firearms permit. Fathoms
The contradiction in the thinking of gun control advocates has to do with the fact that every problem they have about men HAVING guns also applies to men WITH guns. We don't normally think of it this way, but enforcement of gun control laws is ultimately based on gun violence. At the end of the day, if the police (men with guns) aren't willing to murder a person for possession of a firearm and resisting arrest, than the law really isn't a law at all, it is simply a friendly suggestion. And if anyone is going to own guns, I would prefer that they demonstrate a lifestyle of peaceful non-violent conflict resolution skills, rather than be the types of people who threaten others with death should they disobey them. Kamero89
The "gun's don't kill people.." quote is idiotic, and the only argument that gun lovers have. Well bombs can protect you too, let's have everyone own a bomb. In the right hands they are perfectly safe. Bombs are just like guns, machines meant to to kill people. If everyone had them, everyone would be safe, except for the suicide bombers of course.
