Thank you NBC

When NBC tells Bettman to jump his reply is " How high and when may I come down sir? " With the NFL season winding down don't doubt for a moment they didn't read the riot act to the league behind the scenes to get a deal done and quickly. The US demands Sunday afternoon sports on national TV and watching guys play poker just doesn't cut it. Have to fill that void between football and baseball seasons so let it be hockey.

Americans would much rather watch Poker, skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding etc etc etc than hockey. NHL will not fill the void between NFL and MLB. Thats what the NBA is for.

ESPN covers Xgames, they don't even want to touch hockey. Fox doesn't cover hockey either. If there was no NHL season.

NBC had it written into contract that if this season was canceled NBC would get a year added to end of their 10 year agreement for free. This would be in 2022 when the 1 year would be worth much more than 2012.
