[Proposal] New Look Nuckleheads

Recommended Posts

2 trades give this team a new look immediately.

To NYI: Alex Edler

To VAN: Ryan Strome, 2014 4th

WHY for NYI?  Edler is a star that needs a change of scenery and Long Island is in desperate need for a star defenseman.  Years of terrible have resulted in some great young players.  Strome has an extremely high ceiling but it stuck in a very impressive depth chart at Centre with Tavares, Bailey, and Neilsen ahead of him.

WHY for VAN?  Vancouver has too much money tied up in defensemen and Edler is probably the most likely to waive his NTC.  Getting a future stud in Strome to learn from Henrik will only make him better.

To TOR: Ryan Kesler, RFA Chris Tanev

To VAN: Morgan Reilly, Carl Gunnarsson, 2014 3nd

WHY for TOR?  No matter how hard they try and convince Leaf Nation, Bozak is NOT a #1 Centre. A Kesler-Bozak-Bolland-McClement depth chart looks infinitely times better than a Bozak-Bolland-McClement-Colborne chart.  Kesler and a cheaper stay at home guy in Tanev would look very good in blue and white.

WHY for VAN?  When 5th Rounder Frank Corrado is our best defensive prospect we need to replenish the cupboard.  Morgan Reilly is that guy.  Carl Gunnarsson replaces Edler in the top 6 and the 3rd evens it out.

Now, when trade deadline rolls around and there is some serious talent out there for the taking, we can take advantage with our cap space and make a push for the Cup before the Sedin's fade away.

1st trade is a steal fr NYI as I would ask for more than one unproven prospect for Edler who is going to put up 50+pts from the backend.(Reinhart comes to mind)

2nd trade. Why would the leaf do this when they barely have the cap space now to sign Franson and Kadri. Although this would be a good hockey trade you must look at financial situation in the cap world. More cap would have to come back our way or sweetin the pot for the trade to include either Kadri or Franson.
