Monty
Could do it easily Mg would just have to crunch some numbers, throw in Schroader, and whoever. We have 2 mill plus in cap space right now Ok, well until YOU crunch the numbers, because it is your proposal, it doesn't work. Then add the fact that it is serious underpayment for Kane. Vanfansince88
Ok ask Burrows and Edler to waive NTC. Burrows, Shroader, Edler, Gaunce,1st For big Buff and Kane.
Monty
^^^ Vanfansince88 Well let's see: Kane>Burrows: Burrows is one of my favourite Canuck players, and one of the best stories in the NHL. However, he is 32 years old, his production is in serious decline and has a cap hit of $4.5M. Kane is only 22 years old, will only get better, and has better numbers this year. Jets lose that deal. Byfuglien>Edler: Big D is one of the top NHL defensemen in points this season; no surpise. Edler, who I have always liked, is having major problems this season (possibly due to his back injury). Awful deal for the Jets. Schroeder = injured and mostly unproven. Gaunce: Completely unproven. 1st rounder: Assuming this is a 2014 draft pick. The talent pool is bare this year. Pretty weak draft pick. OVERALL: Assuming this trade ever happened, the Canucks make out like bandits. There is nothing positive here for the Jets. Monty
^^^Vanfansince88 Except now the Canucks look like garbage, because they are giving up secondary scoring. How often do you see trades where teams swap 2-3 major pieces of their team? Essentially the Jets are giving up 2 major pieces in Kane and Byfuglien for Burrows, Edler, Kassian, and Hansen. Major shakeups like that never, ever happen between two teams. It just doesn't. In the end, you have to give to get. The Canucks have too many NTC's in order to make this happen to begin with. All the assets that they have, the players first have to agree to it. If it were to be a player for player trade, the only Canuck the Jets would be interested in would be Ryan Kesler; however, the trade would have to include a draft pick AND Kesler would have to agree to waive his NTC. Now, since Gillis most likely wouldn't approach these players about waiving their NTC, any deal would probably have to wait until the off-season, when the cap increases; because then Gillis wouldn't have to look at moving players with NTC's. However, then the Jets would start the conversation with Bo Horvat.
canadiangunner
I would trade Horvat for Kane in a fricken heartbeat! If Horvat ever even comes close to the player Kane is it would be amazing....if we can get that type of guy right now it is a no brainer! Kane is a stud, players with hear and has amazing skill and very young. No way jets give up on him in my opinion.
canadiangunner
Would take Horvat, draft pick and top 4 dman to make this deal happen.

Monty
My honest opinion? If the Jets are trading Kane, they will look for a dance partner in the Eastern Conference: - Carolina: Jeff Skinner. The Hurricanes are absolutely brutal on the wing. They already have both Staal's to play center, so trading Skinner (a natural center) to the Jets (who need help down the middle), would be a win-win for both. - Islanders: Bailey, Clutterbuck, 1st round draft pick (2014 or 2015, depending on how the Sabres trade works out). The Islanders are more than covered on center, they are desperate for a winger. Clutterbuck is not fitting in well, and Bailey can play both wings. A player like Kane would fit in well, seeing as though they will probably be losing Vanek. - Senators: Mika Zibanejad. This might be a trade that works straight up, or a middle round draft pick going to the Jets. As a Jets fan, these would be the safest places for Winnipeg to look for a trade. Eastern Conference, lots of young, talented forwards that teams could ship back in a trade. And in the Islanders case, they would be more than fine at this point in trading a 1st round draft pick, as that team really can't wait much longer. sampy
Bro Jake (yes I know) said on 1040 that he talked to the Giants owner and he said Kane wants to play for Vancouver badly. Whatever it takes MG; Kesler, Edler, Horvat, who cares... Get Kane!

Monty
What if we package the following for Kane.. Hansen Jensen 2014 1st rd pick 2014 2nd pick Well, put it this way. If Vancouver had Kane and the Jets offered Hansen, Jensen, a 1st round and 2nd round in a terrible draft year, would you trade him to the Jets for that package? Didn't think so. He is one of few who can have an actual hockey conversation on these boards. @Sting: Very unorthodox way of highlighting a 3-way trade. I figured out your trade movement, but I don't follow your cap numbers at all.
