Boudrias
The width of the Intl rinks weed out marginal skating skills and elevates the importance of stick skill- maintaining possession of the puck. The North American game relies upon and emphasizes brute force to retrieve and possess the puck.I prefer to see skills displayed.Describing a physical game as 'brute' force is one way I guess. In my day a physical game required skill and determination as well. Not as much of the cheap shot stuff that you see today. As Cherry has said for decades restrict the size and armour out of the equipment and see what happens. To me the essence of hockey has always been the compete between speed and the physical play required to limit that speed.
-DLC-
Woooo Bieksa ties it up for us! Turned the game on (thought it was a later game?) and it's in the second...we were losing 2-0. Scored as I turned it on then boom (boom), another one.
goalie13
Bieksa scores! Powerplay goal, tie game. I turned the game on it was 2 - 0 for the Swedes. Canada has really turned it on here.

nuck nit
Bieksa playing a huge role on this team and he is firing rockets today. Tight game so it's a good one.
Down by the River
Not that I don't enjoy it, but a seven game round robin is pretty ridiculously long.

nuck nit
Speaking of ridiculously long, the NHL playoffs began April 16th and will end in mid-June. Last year it ended in the last week in June. The NHL should use a different format to end the season in May again.
-DLC-
What a great way to spend a Sunday morning. I love international hockey! Me too, just wish I'd been more on the ball...was up early making coffee but somehow thought it was a 10 start. Great action in the 3rd here...will be a barnburner finish! goalie13
The NHL should use a different format to end the season in May again. I love the format for the NHL playoffs the way it is. They should just start the season earlier so that the playoffs can end earlier.

-DLC-
Had a feeling, often goes that way...chance at one end then break out/score at the other. Great patience on that goal...and Ellis seals the deal.
nuck nit
Scheifle with the play of the game. Canada was lucky to win that one.
