We need 101pts to clinch 2nd (100pts 3rd) every point the Kings and flames lose out on that number drops. So at 93 points our magic# is 8pts for 2nd (7pts for 3rd). If we win tonight, our magic# is 6pts for 2nd (5pts for 3rd). Then we would only need the Kings to lose out on 1 point and the Flames lose out on 2. Assuming we win our last 2 against Arizona and Edmonton.

All we need is to finish 4-2-0 and we are gaurenteed home ice in the 1st round. Although it will probably take 3-3-0 or 2-3-1.

It would be a major let down at this point for us not to get 2nd. Catastrophic if we miss the playoffs.

And Dallas is down to the magic # of 1 vs WPG (in DIV) or LAQ (W/C). 1 loss and they're officially out, 1 point by either WPG or LAQ and they're out. So much for all the big money acquisitions...couldn't even land them a Playoff spot!

How the Canucks can secure a playoff berth today:

- Kings lose in regulation

- Kings lose in OT/SO & Flames lose in regulation

- Kings lose in regulation, Flames lose in either regulation or OT/SO & Jets lose in regulation

- Both Jets and Flames lose in regulation

^ Hmmm... I thought it was any regulation loss by any of them today due to Calgary playing both Winnipeg and L.A. this week. Oh well, I'll have to recheck my numbers, but it would be nice if the Canucks had a couple of mean-nothing games. Of course they should get themselves in playoff mode, but definitely need to balance the minutes, and get Markstrom or Miller (if he's ready) some ice time.

Edit 2: I forgot about ROW being the first tiebreaker. So yes, L.A. losing in regulation will secure us a playoff spot, but not Calgary or Winnipeg.

What is the 2nd tiebreaker if Vancouver and Calgary have the same amount of ROWs?
