Linden Vey being underrated on CDC

Rarely gives up possession? He had a -10 corsi today, and the eye test went along with that from my POV. He got outworked by Schroeder... Matthias' skating was never bad, it's just that he wasn't smart with it. Hell, he wasn't using it properly the first ten games of the season.

He had a poor game against The Wild, but he's still doing very well.

God forbid we have a rookie on the team who's performing decently.

So now we know why Cody wanted out... :frantic:

It's tough to put a finger on the role he should play on this team given who we have... moving forward I think we have this:

Danny - Hank - Burr

Higgins/ prospect - Bones - Vrbata

Matthias - Horvat - Kassian

Dorsett/ Kenins - Richie? - Hansen

The first line's a play-driving unit, or if they need scoring they'd bump Vrbata up. The 3rd line's physical, fast and can drive play and score. Same with the 4th line, and that's a solid bottom-6 we have given their size, feistiness and two-way ability . With that said, I'd think (and I don't think I'm alone in thinking this) that Linden would either have to beat out Bones or Higgins for their roles, or his development forces Vrbata out next season, and he'd be a PP specialist/ top-6 fill-in for now.

I'm sorry! I thought it was a joke and was giving the appropriate response

Tanev has an utterly limp noodle of a shot. His one and only saving grace in the offensive zone is that, like in the defensive zone, he's patient and doesn't panic with the puck allowing him to generally make a decent pass/make a smart/safe play (to someone with some actual offensive talent ideally).

He has pretty much no offensive creativity or "drive", very little in the way of offensive tools (wrist/slap shot, blazing speed, stick handling etc).

He's very much holding Edler's offensive ability back but due to us having no better options, we have Tanev, a good defensive 4th D with little offense and no physicality playing with our #2D. Pardon me if my panties are still dry.

I share the same opinion of Tanev.

Imo the signing, should it happen, will determine if there is any real difference between our current and previous gm

Someone must have made the Derek Roy comparison already, it's a fair comparison.

Both play a similar playmaking style, but both have a good shot. They both aren't very physical, Vey is actually bigger and still growing. 21 points in 53 games is good for his rookie year, I see no reason he couldn't develop into a Derek Roy style player. Imo he has the potential.

Derek Roy's rookie season: 22 years old: 49 GP / 9 G / 10 A / 19 Points. - 8

Linden Vey rookie season: 23 years old: 53 GP / 9 G / 12 A / 21 Points. +1

I'd be very dissapointed if the Canucks let go of Vey.

Agreed he could be a nice player for a lot of years, especially if he can balance out his inconsistencies defensively. Some games he's great in his own end others that line struggles. By the 200 game mark of his career I can see him having 110 career points

I think some fans forget that he is a rookie. The defensive errors and occasionally weak board work are so common with rookies, especially less physical, finesse style centremen.

Vey consistently shows flashes of offensive skill and creativity. His defensive game will come, and i'm confident his offense will keep getting better.
