Bieksa

For

Rychel

They have cap space and are looking for veteran dmen. Probably prefer to deal with west. Rychel is an offensive prospect that will help with our depth. Losing Bieksa removes some congestion from the right side and gives us the ability to make a play for franson.

Don't know if we'd get a 1st round prospect for Juice.

That being said though, the return should still be decent. If Juice can rebound to Top-4 level point production, he could still get two decent prospects/ players and a pick, like what Legwand got (NHL players Jarnkrok, Eaves and 3rd) or Cole got (decent prospects in Backman, Janmark and 2nd).

Hope we'd trade to Detroit for a skilled hidden-gem prospect like what Nashville may have received in Calle.

Bieksa for rychel is close enough in value that the only plus on our side would be a mid rounder which is basically a jensen

Bieksa just came off a career worst year, is 33, and a UFA in a year. Jensen is about a season away from being completely written off as a prospect if he can't turn things around. I doubt Columbus agrees your assessment of the value you're offering.

Columbus' best scenario would be they get a year or two effectiveness out of Bieksa while Rychel busts.

The more likely scenario is that Bieksa is marginal for a year or two and Rychel becomes a reasonably effective NHL player for several years.

Columbus' worst scenario is that Bieksa doesn't help them at all while Rychel develops into a really good player and stays that way a long time.

Imo this isn't remotely close in value, though I'd certainly be pleased from the perspective of a Canucks fan if this deal got done. It has the makings of a GM killer from the Blue Jackets' point of view.

How do people not realize that just Jensen doesn't add value to trades. Jensen has turned into a prospect with the same value as Conacher... Not an NHL player. If we were to get Rychel, and we were trading bieksa like the great reads. We would have to add an A prospect. Because Rychel is an A prospect. Bieksa has little to no value. He's slow, and a liability on defence. The only reason why we still have him is because we out false hope that he'll be good again like he was in 2011. Sorry Canuck nation. That's not happening.
