No more Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Niklas Hjalmarsson. There's a new young upcoming core on defense for Chicago now, and a lot of similarities between these kids with the former Blackhawks legends. Gustav Forsling (22 years old, LD, born in Sweden): His offensive game is unreal, to notch 61pts and likely break 50+ this year is impressive for someone who is only 22. We hope he can be our next Duncan Keith, but we haven't trusted him with big defensive responsibilities yet. But he does have the tools to win a Norris in the future. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Madison Bowey (23 years old, RD, born in Canada): This guy is looking like a young Brent Seabrook. 3rd on team for hits, 2nd in shotblocks, 1st in PIMs. Plays on the top PK unit, and 2nd PP unit. Probably our most well rounded defenseman. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hampus Lindholm (24 years old, LD, born in Sweden): Looks to be our Niklas Hjalmarsson. Good for 25-35 points, and play top pairing minutes and the top PK unit. He's also a top notch shotblocker. (Ranked 12th all time in RGMG) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Chad Krys (20 years old, LD, born in USA): Nick Leddy anyone? Quick, playmaking defenseman, who is known to struggle defensively, but has held his own quite well in the NHL. Was promoted to the 2nd PP unit in favour for Hampus Lindholm. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mike Green (33 years old, RD, born in Canada): A great veteran presence, doing everything we could ask for, plus more. Leading the team in hits and points by defenseman. Providing us with that puck-moving ability that we love to have in the backend. Very reminiscent of how Brian Campbell was for us. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Slava Voynov (28 years old, RD, born in Russia): Voynov was once known a young upcoming defenseman for the Los Angeles Kings. After his arrest and suspension, and spending a year in the KHL, he came back to the NHL, but never was the same. We feel he's found a good role here on Chicago, as our #6. If I lose out on #1 by 2pts this year I will be livid and make it the Anaheim Ducks mission to absolutely obliterate the Kings from here on out.
