We thank the GMs of LA, CLB, and BOS for the tough, but fair negotiations and wish them all (except LA) luck moving forward. Like the make up of the roster. There is a healthy balance of aging and rising stars. We hope the acquisitions of Brayden, Nikolai, Artemi, and TJ give the team that missing spark and launch us into the playoffs. Popular Post Nail
2023 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 5 Donal Farkas (LW/RW) A rookie in the OHL with Kingston who's put up absolutely insane numbers this year. 28 goals and 70 points in 61 games, to go along with an 8.07 avr. This is even more impressive when you consider Farkas is 6'5, 213 lbs and listed as a finesse forward. Farkas even has 211 hits so far this year, and is a shoo-in to win OHL rookie of the year. Some scouts are worried that Farkas is bullying the league with his size, and the offense might not translate to higher levels against tougher competition. Only 26 of Farkas' points are on the PP, the other 54 are all even strength. Jonathan MacLean (C) A 6'5 211 lbs center powerforward hailing from Great Britain, MacLean has drawn interest from NHL scouts along with European teams. In Britain's top league, MacLean has 33 points in 41 games this season and a 7.83 AVR. MacLean is very raw right now and will likely need some time playing in a higher level than he is currently, in order to fully round out his offensive and defensive attributes. Many scouts don't know much about MacLean heading into this year's draft, so teams may have to do their due diligence in order to consider drafting him. Maxime Korczak (C/RW) Korczak is a center two-way forward currently playing his second season for Prince George in the WHL. This season, Korczak has experienced an uptick in production, putting up 32 goals and 72 points in 63 games thus far. Even with his great production, many scouts view Korczak as a more raw player, someone who has a bit of work to do in terms of developing both their offensive and defensive attributes. His base attributes are good enough to start with, but the work for Korczak will start to begin once he is drafted to the NHL. Dan Sinard (RW/LW) Sinard has begun to move up draft boards after a strong freshman season at Michigan State with 14 goals and 27 points in 28 games this season. The 6'2 200 lbs winger is a playmaking forward, but his goal totals this year may be a bit misleading. Sinard's shot is not the greatest, and for him to score 14 goals this year might have been a lucky year. Sinard also has no regard for his own defensive zone, Michigan State plays a high octane style that allows for Sinard to thrive. There are many questions as to whether any of this will translate to higher levels. Nicholas Steben (C/LW) Scouts that went to watch Korczak in PG this season also got a heavy dose of Steben. The two were linemates, with Steben playing the left wing and both enjoyed offensive success. Steben was the playmaker on the line, with 19 goals and 42 assists in 63 games this year. At 6'2 194 lbs, Steben isn't a smaller player but he lacks strength in order to win board battles and get the puck from opposition. Steben is interesting, his rookie season in the WHL actually produced more offense than this season, which has scouts wondering if Steben's progression is stagnating, or if it is a product of a weaker team this season. 5 1
